I am sitting on my couch, and of course on the DISboards, looking out my window awaiting this massive blizzard that is rocking most of the country (hasn't hit my neck of the woods yet). I was just wondering who else on the boards will be/have been/is going to be affected by this "Storm of 2011". We live in a Southwest Suburb of Chicago and they are predicting anywhere from 18-20 inches or of snow...possibly more :scared1:, of course my girls will be off of school tomorrow (already got the call). I just keep thinking how we will be in Disney in little over 3 months in the nice warm Florida sunshine and lazing around Stormalong Bay......ahhhh!!!!!

Getting hit here in Des Moines, Ia., right now. Mainly a lot of blowing at this time. They heavy stuff is supposed to show up in a couple more hours. Stay warm!!!

I live outside of Boston. we are currently getting 5-6 inches with 2 feet to follow tomorrow. Which is ridiculous because I already have 3 feet of snow in my yard. Where I'll put another 2.4 inches is beyond me.

I'm right smack in the Loop in Chicago, hoping they will close work tomorrow due to this storm. However, I do not have my hopes up and plan on schlepping in tomorrow anyway. Deadlines don't go away even when there is weather. *sigh*

Even if we do close, I anticipate a long Thursday and even longer Friday to make up for the day off.

In the meantime, hubby and I are prepared.

We've got a nice coat of ice on top of the residual snow and roads -- we're supposed to get another coating this afternoon and tonight.

Most of the schools and major government offices are closed because the roads aren't safe -- lots of slide-offs and other road accidents in the news.

I commiserate with those trying to leave SW Ohio for WDW -- we actually moved our departure up back in Dec to avoid a similar storm (fortunately, it wasn't as icy as this one).

Everyone, hunker down and think warm thoughts, and maybe Tink will fly by and sprinkle warm pixie dust and melt all this ice into slush...

I am in Southeastern MA and we are on our 4th snow storm. They are happening almost weekly here now. It started snowing at 6:45am. School was canceled at 6am. This is snow day number 4 w/ number 5 and possibly 6 almost definitely to follow. They are predicting anywhere from 6 - 18 inches :rotfl: over the next 2 days. I, like you, am definitely dreaming about Storm Along Bay. We are staying at the BC for the first time in May! I am a true winter girl, but even I am fed up w/ the weekly snow storms! Here, we are forecasted to get another one this weekend:headache: Here's dreaming about some sunny weather and and in our toes :wizard::wizard:

I'm east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. So far we don't have the snow, but it's coming!

Forecasting at least 15 cms and up to 40 cms (30 cms = 12") depending on the area people live in. Overnight tonight and continuing through Wednesday.

My kids think they are getting a snowday on Wednesday. I say *think* because if I can walk 'em to school, they are going! I just found out that this Friday is a P.A. Day. Staying home once this week is plenty! :rotfl:

In central PA - we woke to 2 inches of snow with a layer of ice on top. Freexzing rain off and on through the day, tonight and tomorrow. Schools are closed today, which may or may not have been necessary, and almost certainly will be again tomorrow. So much for Spring Break.

I responded to this and then went back and re read your post and realized we are both gonna be at BC in 3 months and 4 days :banana:

I'm sending out good thoughts for all of you who will be / are affected by this storm....it's going to be a bad one. Lucky for us, these past few storms have gone north of us...please be safe and stay warm.

We are expecting 25 cm (translates into 9.8 inches) of the dreadful white stuff tonight and into tomorrow.

Unfortunately, we aren't getting a lick of snow it seems this year. All this *BIG* snow storm of 2011 is going to deliever to us is lots of rain :guilty: VA's getting the short stick on this storm.

Stay warm everyone and keep thinking warm Disney thoughts! Here's to hoping you'll go from this :cold: to this :beach: in no time!

Here in upstate NY we've been lucky not to have been hit by all the coastal storms, but it looks like our luck has run out. We may have as much as 22 inches before it all winds down tomorrow. I had taken this afternoon off, and I just got a call from work saying we're closed tomorrow. And all I can think about is that I'm headed for WDW on Feb. 18th for my first stay at SSR, and all these darn storms had better be over and done with before I have to drive to and fly out of Philadelphia!!

Wow how awesome. You definitely need the warmer weather much more than I do. We haven't had a major snow storm since January 1999, I just don't like winter and love the warmer months. Hope you have an awesome trip at the BC, you will love it :goodvibes

Got ice? We do.. and there is more to come,, I'd prefer snow over ice... and it's weather like this that gets me into planning mode as it always seems like I am planning a trip, :lmao: But what else can I do while I sit and look out at gray skies, cold temps and ice.

Here in South Jersey we have had snow after snow after snow, there is still a huge pile in the yard from last week. With this big storm thankfully, we are getting rain. I fly out of Philly on Friday for some Orlando sunshine and I've been checking the weather like a crazy fool. Looks like I should be all good as of now. It will be wonderful to feel warmth and sunshine again for the first time in many months.:goodvibes In fact, one of the main things I'm excited about is that I will be able to walk outside without getting snow in my shoes. Sad but true.:thumbsup2

Hope everyone dealing with the incoming blizzard, keeps safe and warm. Trust me, I've been there and done that and I'm still walking on it everyday.

I'm in Central Indiana and we got hit with ice last night and are bracing for round 2....bleck! Come on April 30th!!!!!

More snow and ice here in NE PA today. We're on snow day #4 and I'm thinking tomorrow will be #5 with the 1/4 inch of ice expected tonight and tomorrow. I've graded all my essays, written lesson plans till March, done all the laundry, balanced my checkbook, and now I'm just bored. My family is patiently waiting for our split stay at VWL and BLT in August for the first time as DVC members. My husband and I are cruising to Bermuda in April for spring break and that can't come soon enough!! :banana:So sick of shoveling snow, driving in snow, falling in snow, and looking at snow. Where is spring?? :sad2:

We got a small taste today, not enough to close school, but after school vents are cancelled. Round two starts late tonight/tomororw morning - that'll be a foot and a half or so - sigh. We're in NY's capital district. I'm running out of places to put the snow! Although we've been spared some of the stuff that hi the seaboard, their's comes and melts...ours comes and stays!
I am hoping that we are paying our dues and that Feb 19, the day we fly down to my happy place, will be a beautiful day with clear skies!
