Winter Snow Storm

Hey y'all can send some of that snow my way! I live in Mississippi and we hardly ever see any :sad2:

Come and get it - we'll GLADLY give it to you for FREE!!! Heck, we'll even help you shovel it into your car for the drive home!!!:lmao: Just think - a mobile kaki-gori...

We have been hit pretty bad here in Purdue. We didn't have classes today- only the 6th time in Purdue history!! There's a good chance that classes will be canceled tomorrow too! :thumbsup2

We are under a wonderful ice storm warning. DH just came in and said he hears it hitting the skylight in the kitchen. I would take a snow storm any day. So not ready for an ice storm. Schools are closed tomorrow for a second straight day. At this rate with all the storms we have been getting we will be lucky if the kids are out of school by July 4.

Michigander here. Live east of Flint. Blowing snow at the moment. Have gotten a couple of inches, but is predicated 10-15. I am out in the country so don't expect roads to be passable for awhile. We have a BIG tractor so we can plow out some. But still can't get to far. Bundling up and thinking of Disney. Will be there in May. Drinking coffee and thinking how my hubby will be home tomorrow so here comes a big hot breakfast and coffee after he gets the plowing done.

Checking in here in Columbus, OH. It's about 11:30 pm and someone just turned the ice off. We had a layer of ice when we woke up this morning and just had more freezing rain from about 5 pm on. We are already experiencing power outages but tomorrow we are getting 40 mph winds along with some snow. Just crossing my fingers that we keep power.

We're in Kansas City, and we definitely got at least 8-10 inches today, with drifts between 2-3 feet. This is the most snow we've had since I've lived here!

Oh man I am here in West Michigan and it is slowly brewing it's way up here. I have tomorrow off so a snow day for me! I rented cinderella, finding nemo and another movie for my snow day!! :)

I plan to spend the day relaxing, scrapbooking, disney planning and watching my movies!!

They say we might get 9-18 inches off snow! SNOWLY COW! :)

OK - now that the sun's up, the power's back on, and the garbage guys have gone by (bless you, Waste Management workers!!!), I can dress up and go outside to inspect my roof, which was pelted throughout the night by deadly shards of ice flung from the trees by the 30 mile-per-hour winds.

We're not out of the woods yet, but at least it's all supposed to change to sleet and snow today vice freezing rain. I just hope the streets clear up some before tomorrow night, when the lows are projected to be in the single digits.

If this is the worst we get, we'll have been lucky. And if you're in the World right now, enjoy the nice weather!

Well, here in Southern NH we're shut down. High school and colleges are both closed (high school announced last night and college this morning). DH works in Boston and his work announced yesterday afternoon that they would be shut down today. I work at a local law firm and got the email this morning that our office is shut down. You know its bad when that happens. From what I've been told they've only closed the office for weather about 3 times since the firm opened in the late 1800's!

It was still snowing pretty hard when I got up at 6:00 a.m., but it seems to be tapering off a bit now.

Checking in from SE Michigan - my school, University of Michigan, is the only school out of about 560 in the area to stay open. :headache: Thanks to some guy who sued the school 30 years ago for having a snowday, one has never been issued since.

Just south of Milwaukee checking back in with snow update: opened the garage door this morning to see if I should take a snow day from work and saw that the snow drift in front of my garage is over my head (I'm 5' 2"). :scared1: Garage door would not shut again because of the snow and I had to wake DH (it was 4:50 am) to help me shovel enough snow away from the garage door track to enable it to close. Still snowing and blowing out....

Civil emergency here in Lake County IL. Roads closed, people stranded, power outages. Had to shovel a path thru a 4 foot drift so my dogs could go out. Snow is still coming down hard.

Checking in from SE Connecticut. No new snow, but about an inch of ice on top of the two feet of snow from last Wednesday. It's raining now, but freezing on contact of anything not salted. My driveway is dangerous to walk on and it's gravel. Worried that the snow on the roof is getting too heavy. Temps going back down so everything will freeze solid in a few hours. Husband is in Vermont skiing! Drove up last night after dinner (four hour drive) :confused3.

The storm of 2011 is still continuing here in Canada. 20-30 centimeters of snow here in Kingston, before the storm ends later today. We had thunder and lightening earlier this am! Anybody out there not believe in Global Warming! Sending out lots of pixiedust: to anyone driving today!

Central Pennsylvania. A layer of ice on everything, the trees are beautiful, but my elm tree is losing a lot of limbs.

Pretty crazy here in Kendall county IL, roads impassable, 4 ft drifts, still blowing like crazy. The connection to my work server is down so I figure what the heck, I'll cruise the Disboards for few hours, hunker down, light a fire, make a warm hearty meal, and watch some cable. :thumbsup2

Being snowbound is kinda of fun, cozy...it's makes you long for the warm Florida sun-can't wait for June!

NY's Capital District chiming in here. Still snowing heavily. We need to figure out where to put the snow at this point. We have a long, winding driveway - about 600 feet long - we'll be lucky if we have enough width left to get the cars through!
My heart goes out to anyone who was traveling from or connecting through Chicago or any of the other closed airports!
