We were at Disney last week and I came down with Covid. Still recovering.

I’ve seen some others mention they came home sick, too. (Let’s see a show of hands!)

My daughter sent me this:

My feeling is that flu, Covid, and other germs are everywhere right now, and will probably get worse over the holidays, with everyone visiting.

Try and stay safe out there! 😷 🤧 🤒

my YDD got diagnosed with the flu late last week. Definitely lots of stuff going around!

We just got back from Disney yesterday. So far we haven't come down with anything and I've been taking extra immune supplements so hopefully that will help. I did notice there were a lot of kids/adults hacking and I tried to avoid them as much as possible.

✋ Hand up here, covid also,

...and we didn't even go to Disney! - DS and I were in Florida in early-mid November for a quick visit to see family. DS got sick a couple days after we got back, and we're guessing he picked it up on the trip home (since we didn't hear that anyone we visited got it). I started a couple of days after him. We're all better now, but we missed Thanksgiving. :(

(And DH didn't go with us, but still got bronchitis up here!)

I’ve not been at Disney, but picked up a nasty cold, probably from these little school kids.

Lots of people sick around here. The grandson had strep a couple weeks ago.

I was on WDW property during Thanksgiving weekend (APs were blocked out so only did resort hopping) and the week after my sister and mom were super sick to the point where they took off work for a day. Not Covid thankfully but just a bad cold.

I noticed A LOT of people at Disney coughing without covering their mouths. Some of this coughing sounded like hacking/gagging. I call it "the Disney ick".

Feel better!

I always manage to catch something at this time of year, especially if we travel or have a lot of holiday concerts and parties. I'm currently on day 7 of a yucky head cold. I haven't seen much in the way of Covid being reported here (I tested negative) but quite a few people getting the flu.

I just got back Sat. after being there for a week. Caught a cold, yes, just a cold, no I didn't go to the doctor. Started getting a runny nose on Thurs. by Friday it was a cold. Had to drive home 7 hours, not fun. Took all day yesterday just laying around eating chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese. Feeling better today and was able to sleep about 5 hours last night. We usually come home about every other trip with what we call the Disney crud. To add insult to injury I had my grand daughter with me on Wens. night babysitting while mom and dad (my son) went to Jollywood nights. Decided to go to Epcot and while I was trying to unhook her stroller she decided to escape. Thankfully into a bus que with people in it but I fell trying to grab her when she ran. Tore the living daylights out of my knee so I was having to hobble on Thurs and Fri.

We were lucky. We went to Disney for five days the week after Thanksgiving and none of us got sick. We did mask in crowded areas though, and we moved our reservation to Pop from All Star Movies so we could reduce our exposure on buses. We were hand washing like fiends as well, especially before eating or drinking anything. I hope those of you who are sick get well soon! :grouphug:

We got back Friday night from a 2 week trip to Disney and as I type this my youngest is sick on the couch and one of my daughters stayed home sick today too. I’m not feeling great either, just cold symptoms though. We tested ourselves for covid and tests are negative but whatever we have we caught at Disney. It’s a souvenir Id like to return lol

Thanks for the info - and I learned Disney has an Urgent Care facility. Didn't know one was on property, good to know!
Where is it? Not sure I saw it. I did make note of a few I saw around the community, and a hospital, lol.

It might not hurt to bring some supplies. We made several trips to CVS - fortunately, we had a rental.

Our local wastewater surveillance here in Southeast Michigan has seen a significant rise in C19 in all locaitons. The county to our west also has that, plus RSV, Rotavirus, and Norovirus. Wastewater tends to be a leading indicator, but a very reliable one because it does not rely on people reporting home tests or visiting a clinic for testing.

I ran into a friend who works at the U-M hospital on Saturday. Anecdotally, he hasn't noticed an uptick in C19 admissions, but said there was a lot of flu. Not sure where that's coming from, because none of the monitoring sites are showing much activity at all.

Ever since I got the fever and chills flu at WL several years ago, I have traveled with enough cold medicine and cough drops to cover me for a week. I also carry a glass mug and one of those immersion heaters to make hot tea in the room (I can’t stand the residual coffee taste when I try to use a coffee maker for tea). I remember wanting a hot drink so badly, and I was so sick I couldn’t leave the room for three days. The first thing I did when I could leave the room was get a bowl of chili and a cup of hot tea.

Yes! Not even trying to cover! I noticed it, too, especially on the planes. A kid of about ten was coughing in the seat right front of us and I never saw him cover his mouth or saw him Mom, seated next to him, remind him to cover. Or put a mask on. The same thing happened on a flight we were on in October. Someone in front of us sneezed the whole way home. Never made any attempt to cover his mouth or sneeze into a tissue or anything. DD got sick several days later (negative for flu and Covid) and it eventually turned into bronchitis with the need for antibiotics. Ugh!

Oh, man, that looks ugly! And painful! Sending healing vibes. :flower3:

Btw @MikeandReneePlus5, I have been taking Vitamin D for several years now.

And this is why I scrambled around town this weekend to get my flu shot and covid booster just in case for our holiday travels. I know it's not a guarantee but after having Covid this year I'd like to avoid catching it as much as possible.

I've been coming back with the Disney Ick for decades. Now I'm smarter. I try my best not to touch the handrails in queues, or anything else I don't absolutely have to, and we wither wash up after a ride or use copious amounts of sanitizer. It seems to at least help a little.

There's a yucky little bug going around my area. Coughing with lots of mucus and a snotty nose. If you don't spit it out if you can and swallow the mucus, it gets into your stomach and makes you throw up. My Godson brought it home from school and gave it to everyone in the house last week.

would encourage everyone to consider a Vit D supplement in the winter if you aren't getting enough sunlight.

I heard one doctor say "there is no such thing as cold and flu season...it's Vit D deficiency season". Maybe dramatic, I can't verify accuracy, YMMV

r.e. bold -- D3 + K2 provides better absorption. We are FL Residents and still take D3K2 all year long.
p.s. -- I'm NOT a Dr. but have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express
