Winter Break Back Jan. 5 or 12th?

I am itching to get back to WDW, but my daughter is a freshman in HS now, so it is a bit harder to take her out of school. I did notice that her Christmas break is longer than most schools in our area. She does not have to go back to school until Jan. 12. Do you all think the 5th thru the 11th of Jan. will be busy? When do your kids go back after winter break?

We go back the 5th...which stinks, because the kids' first day of break isn't until Christmas Eve.

I would think this would be a wonderful time to go. It always seems to me that each day after New Year's Day the crowds seem to go down. I would think that most schools would be back in session by that week. Lucky YOU!!!!!!!

My son is a senior this year and goes back Jan. 6. He will miss those 4 days of that week as we will be on the Magic. We will be in WDW on the 1st and 2nd. I have heard crowds get better after the 1st but dont know that for sure

I went in January once with my mom. It was very uncrowded! That year, it was very chilly - the high was about 50 one day - but it would be a great time to go!

I definitely think right after New Year's Day, it gets less crowded as folks have to get back to school and work. I would go!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing that would make the crowds bigger the last weekend would be the marathon. We were there Dec 30-Jan 6, 2006/7. It did get quieter after new years (on Tuesday), but everyone there for the marathon came in on Wed night so Thursday was busy. It was also harder getting out last breakfast in because all the traffic was re routed to accomodate all the runners.

Would it be possible to go Thur-Thurs? I know a lot rooms get sold out marathon weekend too.
