Winsor Pilates - anyone tried it??

I've been thinking of getting the Winsor Pilates DVDs to use for some of my workout days.

Has anyone tried Winsor Pilates? What did you like / not like about it? Is it worth the $$? Does it really help take inches off your waist / hips / abs???
 
Hi,

I have not tried pilates, however, yesterday while on the treadmill I watched the whole infomercial for Winsor Pilates. I was impressed.

I have place a hold at our local library to view and try a Winsor Pilates tape before I make my decision.

I wanted to get on this thread so that I could read the responses from others. I am curious also.

Lazy me thought, yeah, Pilates, no problem! Not true!!! This is a VERY tough workout. It took me two weeks of doing the demo video to 'get' the moves down right and be able to make it all the way through the video without DYING!!! Proved to me how bad I needed it though!

Now that I am into the regular video it has gotten easier and I've even moved out of the 'modified' position on most of the moves that were harder for me.

Yes, it works. If you do it 3 or more times a week. The results with Pilates have been faster than any other system I've tried and you do feel it, faster, stronger and you feel taller. It's very weird!

I really like it. We do Pilates 3 days a week and walk/cardio stuff two days a week. It's really helped the inches off! I consistently lose .5-2 inches off various areas of my body each week.

Do yourself a favor and measure your thighs and upper arms when you start and use that as a gauge to see if Pilates is working. those are my biggest differences.

I highly recommend it, but remember, it won't be easy and you MUST stick with it even when it hurts! and yes, you can curse Mari Winsor while you're doing it, we do!

I have Denise Austin's Pilates video (came in a set with her yoga one) I had to order the band that goes with it from her website. The video IS awesome!! Very focused moves, that bring results!! I love it!!
 
I use Winsor Pilates. I absolutely love the workout. It is not high intensity as in aerobics. The set is high intensity as in strengthening your middle range muscles.

This is not going to give you a cardio workout so you will still need a cardio routine. It will give you the strength to do a cardio workout. I was doing a great deal of walking/slow jogging last year and found myself hurting in that core area quit a bit. I discontinued the walking/jogging and regained all that I lost in weight and added back that ugly fat. I started again this last couple of months with Pilates AND walking/slow jogging. I am much better off right now at this time of year than I was last year and the only change I made was adding Pilates and following low carb/Atkins.

In the beginning I found that I had to modify the routine for me. I am still modifying parts of the routine, yet I am seeing results for certain. I FEEL stronger. I can do more. I am progressing. I am losing sizes. (Yep plural—sizes!) I realize it is the combination of the Pilates and the walking/jogging and healthy eating that is giving me positive visible changes. Yet without the Pilates I would not be as successful with the rest of my program.

DH is seeing changes in me and has begun doing the 20 minute workout and struggles too. He is such a good sport about trying and I love him so much for trying. The other evening my 85 yr old mother somehow got down to the floor and tried a couple of the exercises with me just to see what she could do. (I laughed with her and now hear that she is on her bed doing some of these exercises as she is able.)

I feel that getting the Winsor Pilates workout is one of the better investments I have made toward my healthier self and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
