Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2024)

4 weeks to go and while the thread is reasonably quiet--before the bib number rush--can I query about a meetup? Looks like last year was Saturday 2 pm at Hurricane Hannah's. Anyone up for that (or an alternative time/place)
That's what I have in my plans--see you there!
That was my assumption for a meet up, as well.

For those of us doing the HM, a friendly reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday Nov 3 a few hours before the race. Clocks fall back from 2am to 1am. We'll still have to wake up crazy early, but at least we should get an extra hour of sleep.
On the subject of this, if you use your phone as an alarm and want to make sure your alarm goes off at the correct 2am (or whatever time you prefer)--change the time manually before you go to bed.

Thanks for the reminder.. last year I ended up arriving at the parking lot one hour earlier than needed… LOL

I was worried about this last year, but my phone handled the change just fine. I did have a wake-up call scheduled on the room phone just in case!

Or set a timer instead of an alarm to take the clock completely out of the equation.
I did this last year and it worked perfectly. 👍

I was worried about the time change because at the last minute my husband couldn’t go with me and I went solo. So, of course, I worried about the time change & would sleep through all alarms because I didn’t have my husband as a backup as I normally do.

So someone here suggested the timer and it worked like a charm. Took the whole time change/alarm out of the equation & worry out of it for me. That and I did do a wake up call as insurance I would be up. 👍 Planning on same strategy for this years race.

I am not sure if we will make the meet up on Saturday. Depends on a lot of things. The most important being if the RV is out of the shop in time to get it to Fort Wilderness. I have backup plans but still hoping to get the RV. If we do, we won’t make the meet up as we will get in Saturday and have to hit the expo.

Will try and find people at the light pole on Sunday.

I managed 7 miles today. Knee is hanging on. I think I can finish the half but I might need to walk the last 3 miles.

Quick question for those in the know. This will be our first trip since MW this year, after which they relaxed the park reservation rules. I’ve got an AP and DS has a park hopper. What are the current rules on making park reservations and park hopping? Thanks!

Park Hopping any time no restrictions
Park reservation wise APs don’t need one if you plan to arrive after 2pm (except for Magic Kingdom on weekends) or if it’s a good 2 go date

If the hopper isn’t a date based ticket than it may need a reservation but most non APs don’t need them

AP still needs, but if you have an onsite hotel reservation then you can make park reservations for length of stay and it doesn't count against the limit of 5 concurrent park reservations. (It's what I hold now)

As others have said:
- no restrictions on hopping
- AP requires a reservation, but I don’t believe they’re having issues with reaching capacity, so you should be able to change things around day of
- outside of some specific tickets, park hoppers don’t need reservations

We’re AP and have been making reservations just to be safe with the rules always seeming to be in flux. Usually just make any park that sounds good and can either change it anytime or not bother. You can hop now without going to your reservation gate first so they are basically meaningless. Honestly don’t understand why we still need the reservations but technically AP still does.

Did the rules change again? Last I heard you could only hop without going to your original reservation if it was after 2 or a good to go day
