Wine and Dine 2015

Good luck tomorrow everyone! I will be here nervously hoping everyone on the board gets in!

I am still waiting until the 7 month mark to try and get a studio in the case someone cancels and one opens - but I got nervous and booked a room through RD at the BC! I am likely traveling alone, so if I can walk and avoid busses and standing all by myself with no stimulation (people fighting over their place in line for the bus doesn't count!) and walk right back after the party, that is a win. Plus I will be spending a lot of time at the resort. It was however, hella expensive. The only reason I can (maybe) get away with it is that RD room only is still considered a package for Disney Visa 6 month 0% interest so it isn't due until April 2016! Here is to hoping I can get a cheaper DVC option, but for planning purposes here are some rates they gave me:

Poly - $419/night
Beach Club - $357
Wilderness Lodge - $302

It still hurts a little to type that :) But I am under a 2 week hold, $200 deposit due by March 30.

Being an offsite person typically it was crazy to me what the rates were for Beach Club when I booked, but I'm holding out hope for an extension of the military discount. Even with that, it's way more expensive than we usually spend, but we wanted to splurge and have the luxury of walking to two of the parks and especially following the after-party.

I have the link for registration saved in my favorites and am anxiously awaiting tomorrow. I'll be so relieved once registration is done and we are in.

I know - it really is expensive. The only reason I am considering it is mostly the 6 months to pay, since I just did PHM and I am still paying that off! So in a way it is helping since I don't have to fork it over for a long time. It is beautiful though with the new rooms - and that pool is amazing when you plan on spending a lot of resort time. I think you will love it! I stayed for TOT last year so I could walk to/from the race and it was perfect. Although, don't get me started on how the website says yacht AND beach club, but RD only does beach for discounts.

We have a last minute star wars weekends trip coming up that I agreed to go on since I upgraded to an AP after PHM, knowing I wanted to do W&D this year too. We have 3 girls staying at CBR and our flights are only like $180 so not having to buy tickets or a really expensive flight definitely helps!

Anyone else considering the Pre-Race taste or know anyone who has done it? I'm torn bc we aren't getting park tickets for this trip, so this would be a chance to really see the Osborne Lights and taste some of the Food and Wine food.

My DH wanted to get tickets because he is jealous I'll get to see Osborne Lights during the race. We were at WDW this past December and thought they were fabulous! Can anyone who did the Pre-Race taste last year confirm the lights were on that night?

I briefly thought about it, but there was nothing that confirmed to me that you get to do anything at Studios OUTSIDE of the private party at Indiana Jones - especially since the lights are in a completely different area of the park than Indy. Plus, I just can't justify $80+ per person for four samples of food and a cash bar, when we won't even spend that much at Food & Wine itself combined.

Ouch! My bank account hurts just thinking about it! But I really hope to splurge & stay at BC! Otherwise it's French Quarter for us!

The only way we'll do BC is if we get the military discount on it. I will probably reserve something prior to when they're released though. Just have to decide what!

:earsboy:princess:Hello All !
Running a Disney half marathon or marathon has been on my bucket list since I started running a few years ago. A few months ago, I brought up the Disney Wine & Dine Half to my boyfriend who shot down the idea of going to Disney pretty quickly. (He's going on a pricey hunting trip the week before so it was money related, not because he doesn't like Disney.. We went last year and had an amazing time). Today I sent him a screen shot of the reminder that registration opens tomorrow, and he was all for it! He said he even wanted to run it with me!!! So now I'm frantically scrambling trying to figure out as much as I can about it and be ready to register tomorrow!! This thread has been helpful but also gave me anxiety about registering and booking a room!! I called and got a price for Caribbean Beach & POP and I think we can afford to stay at CB (is that the correct acronym or is it CBR?). Anyway, should I book my room now and then wait to see what happens tomorrow??? Or just hold out until tomorrow for everything??! HELP!!! :smickey:

You can always put a reservation on a 7 day courtesy hold and finalize once you've registered.

I was debating the same thing about which one to stay at, POP or CBR and my hubby said since we are going back in January for Marathon Weekend, we should do POP in Nov and maybe CBR in Jan. I didn't really care which one since either way, I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!! I just reserved ours right work today and I'm hoping for the best with registering tomorrow.

I'd love to stay at BC. Loved that general location when we stayed at BWI a while back. But those prices. :( I am not even sure how many days we will stay. I'm thinking 4 nights (Thu-Sun) like we are for Tink.

Does anyone know when Disney will announce what charities have race spots? On the Run Disney site it says to "click on one of the charities below," but they're not listed. I've done 2 races with TNT, but I'd like to do one with Alex's Lemonade Stand if they are doing this race.

You can book and cancel with no penalty. You only lose out if you cancel within 45 days I think it is. Though this may be too late to help you for tonight. I'd say go for it and book in the morning, just in case there is a rush tomorrow after the race. I am sure their phones will be jammed!

You can always put a reservation on a 7 day courtesy hold and finalize once you've registered.

I was even given 14 days! Why sure RD phone operator. I WILL take you up on that! It is linked to my MDE already and everything. Now I just have to decide if I'm keeping it!

Tonight I was enjoying the BC thread and someone shared a video of the renovated rooms and Hidden Mickey's at the resort. (Ironically it was done by the owners of the company I work for…small world!) I showed DH the rooms and he's like, yeah, those are nice. Then they were talking about walking to Epcot and the Boardwalk and all the fun things and he said, how come we haven't stayed there? I said, well, it's a little pricy. He said, "adults only trip". I said, "wine & dine" and he high fived me. I think that's guy talk for book the more expensive room? Now I just need to crunch some numbers!

Good luck everyone! I am so worried about having to wake up to register (think of me - it will be 2am!) I don't know if I will be able to get to sleep in the first place :yay:

Am I right in assuming that those on the updated travel page are the "host" resorts? I booked the Poly on a whim (which I noticed is on there).

A question for those who have run the 5K before. Is there time to run the 5K and then get to ESPN for the kids races?

The kids races start at 10am. My parents are interested in running the 5K, but also want to see the grandkids do the kids races too. They are not fast runners, and would be in later corral. Do you think they'd make it if they got a taxi?

I'm not entirely familiar with the sequence of events at the kids races, but even starting in the last corral and walking, your parents should complete the 5K by 9am. If they were going straight over to ESPN via taxi, rental car or event bus (if available?) there should be more than enough time even if your kids were slated to go right at 10am.
