Wine and Dine 2015

I am loving being able to get back to running outside! I did 3.1 miles on Friday, and about 3.5 yesterday (along with an approximately 2 mile or so walk with my mom). Today was a rest day, but it's supposed to be really nice tomorrow, so I'm going to try to take advantage of that. I have a 7K event on Saturday that I'm looking forward to.

And I can't wait for registration on Tuesday. Here's to hoping I get in! Anyone want to predict how long it will take to sell out? I'm thinking less than an hour, due to all the factors mentioned earlier in this thread (no Tower of Terror, bad weather last year, Coast to Coast, etc.)

Do you find the prices are better this far out or closer to the trip? I seem to usually book our flights 2-2.5 months before.

I've always been partial to JetBlue and they, for the most part, post the best rates the first day of release. Sometimes the price might go down so I just call and they give me a credit toward my next flight. I thought with the lower gas prices it might be cheap but I'm paying the most I've ever paid for a trip to WDW. Maybe it's because of the days I'm going or that time of the year. I'll just have to do more Swagbucks and Perk to earn more Disney giftcards for my trip!!

So I'm pretty sure hubby and I will be signing up (hopefully) to run the half! I'll be his first rundisney event and my second. I just did the princess half with my best friend last month! Races at disney are so addicting!

I'm really torn about whether to sign up for the 5k too or not. I was planning on it. My husband doesn't feel like we need to. I was still planning on it as I figured we would nap between races, and did I mention I'm addicted!!! But someone just mentioned not having kids for the weekend and being able to sleep in! And that idea never occurred to me, OMG that would be amazing too!!

I have exactly 36 hours to decide what to do.... So excited! I hadn't found the race section of the disboards before signing up for the princess so I had no idea how lucky we were to get signed up. Now the pressure is really on!!

So, the active.com link that huggybuff posted is the best/quickest way to register? I've been told to go to the runDisney site, then someone on a different board said the active.com website (they must mean this link) then someone said to go to the runDisney site but have the active.com site open in another browser. The link posted by huggybuff looks like the quickest to me.

For Star Wars the Active.com link got me in whilst the RD site was still bogged down. Have both open if you are worried :)

This is our first time to Disney without the kids. We are always at ropedrop or have an early morning character breakfast booked. Looking forward to lazy mornings at Disney, even if it is only for a couple of days!

I am assuming they have PhotoPass people out with the characters during the run? Or do they use something like MarathonPhoto for pictures?

Us too... that is good to know about the rates. I checked last night and it looks like the prices from Boston are pretty good if we do Thurs-Mon like we are for Tink. I guess I'll have to book them further out than I normally do. :)

In addition to MarathonPhoto, they usually have one or two CMs there who will take your picture with your own camera/phone. It works well during other races I've run because they are during the day. I'm not sure the quality of the shots with my phone will be good during a night race.

All depends upon the strength of the flash on your phone. I have an iPhone 5S and it works quite well, my previous phone (iPhone 4S) also worked well at illuminating, but the camera resolution wasn't as good.

You are far more likely to find a cast member with a character than a MarathonFoto photographer. Each character is supposed to have a 'handler', especially since it is dark.

I checked JetBlue from Baltimore, MD. Prices are crazy high. I'll sit on it and wait until Southwest releases their Nov dates in May.

Thanks. It was a matter if we would spend money on ordering memory maker or not.

I noticed that they finally updated the travel page for W&D. It doesn't look like they changed from last year. I wish they would have had Animal Kingdom on there!

We decided not to the 5K because we didn't want to do an early morning and a late night. I am a horrible napper, but also to the point of not having kids with us (fingers crossed) so taking advantage of sleeping in is a must! This is like a second honeymoon for us assuming we can convince someone to watch our rug rats so we plan to make the most of it!

The thing that gets me about the 5K for this is that it's the same day. I don't know that I want to wake up super early and then stay up super late, even with a nap in-between. Besides, part of the appeal for me about W&D is that it's at night and being from the west coast is that my body is used to being 3 hours behind. Don't think that would favor well for the 5K.

The fact that it's the same day as the half is why hubby and I decided to skip the 5K. If it had been the day before, we would have definitely done it. Instead, we'll probably have an easy half-day at AK and go back to the hotel to rest up a bit for the half.

Okay, have the page bookmarked for tomorrow! Good thing I did, too, as my backup computer wasn't "communicating" with my keyboard and I had to reboot it. I would have been stressing tomorrow! :) Thanks for the link!

We are celebrating our 15th anniversary while we are there. That's kind of how I sold this idea on my wife. Not that it takes much arm twisting to get her to disney! I honestly never imagined we would take a trip there without the kids.

Good luck tomorrow everyone! I will be here nervously hoping everyone on the board gets in!

I am still waiting until the 7 month mark to try and get a studio in the case someone cancels and one opens - but I got nervous and booked a room through RD at the BC! I am likely traveling alone, so if I can walk and avoid busses and standing all by myself with no stimulation (people fighting over their place in line for the bus doesn't count!) and walk right back after the party, that is a win. Plus I will be spending a lot of time at the resort. It was however, hella expensive. The only reason I can (maybe) get away with it is that RD room only is still considered a package for Disney Visa 6 month 0% interest so it isn't due until April 2016! Here is to hoping I can get a cheaper DVC option, but for planning purposes here are some rates they gave me:

Poly - $419/night
Beach Club - $357
Wilderness Lodge - $302

It still hurts a little to type that :) But I am under a 2 week hold, $200 deposit due by March 30.
