Windshield cracked by Golf ball while staying at Treehouse villas

If you park your car beside a golf course, you take that risk. Period. There ain't a golf course around here that wouldn't laugh at your claim (literally). I wasn't going to say that but that's literally the way it is.

The only thing you may have going in your favor is that it's Disney and you're a DVC member. If it happened to me, I'd be pissed but at the end of the day, I'd report it if I had insurance or pay for it OOP if I didn't have coverage. My bet would be that's the only way it's gonna get fixed.

That's the bottom line.
I know most golf courses have the policy that the golfer is responsible for any damage caused by errant shots.

OP needs to find the bad golfer that hit that shot.

Through the week that we stayed there, play was not as busy as I would have thought, yet I brought home 9 balls... 6 of them were Disney Logo Balls. Being a golfer myself, I'll not be returning your ball but using on the course..

We stayed in a Tree House Villa next to the course for a week and my kids learned all kinds of new words from the upset golfers. We even got to see a guy throw his club, that we all applauded for. :rotfl:

We went through this already and I did some pretty extensive research on the issue. From what I can see it's the golfer who would be responsible, not the golf course, which I think is not Disney now.

My insurance agent says that a golf course cannot resolve themselves of their liability from a golfer on their golf course unless they give each and every golfer explicit golf lessons before their round.

I did some pretty extensive armchair investigation on this subject when it came around before including posts from lawyer golfers. The recurrent theme was simply that the golfer was responsible and not the course. Personally, I'd put a lot more faith in that than an insurance agent but I'm sure there are exceptions and special situations. I'd bet that essentially every golf course has a policy that moves responsibility from them to the individual as well just like Disney does related to admission and theft from their rooms, read their tickets for an example.

wow, a lot of responses in here seemed to go over the top with their criticisms of the OP. I hope the heat isn't getting to some of us this summer!

OP - I'm sorry this happened to you, but I applaud your "roll with it" attitude.

Got a friend who works at a golf course, here was his response:

We, as the golf course, strictly adhere to the policy that the person who hit the golf ball is responsible for where it goes. And we've had all kinds of interesting scenarios play out. We do everything in our power to find the group/cart/individual responsible for the golf shot. If we can't, we turn it over to our lawyers and/or insurance to deal with. We have also payed out of pocket for certain things. $200.00 for someone's window is a small price to pay to be a good neighbor if it's going to turn into a huge, drawn out game of he said / she said.

So basically, what I'm trying to say is, who the heck knows since we've had many cases and handled them many different ways.

I was just going to post something like that.... if you ever stay at OKW and sit out on the patio/deck you life is in danger...and they are forever hitting the units too.... we usually come back in afternoon and use it for amusement... I never knew golfers were that bad and paid that much money to play being that bad...(never played or been on a golf course) you also see them hit it 5 or 10 feet :rotfl:

I resemble this statement!!! It is still fun to play and with the DVC discount, my game may improve over the next 40 years, lol. Balls do get expensive though.....

Oh I am sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone, just making a humorous observation as a non golfer. It was kinda scary at first hearing the golf balls bouncing off the unit...then started to watch the golfers and saw why it was occurring ;)

We were in second floor OKW bldg 37...love the view as it was a greens view, therefore no errant balls...but did watch one man go into the sand trap, hit it to the next sand trap, and then hit it back into the first sand trap again. When he noticed me on the balcony he picked up his ball and got into his cart and drove away. I love a golf course view and ask for one, but try to position myself in case of crazy balls.
