I found all the info on here so helpful when I was planning (thank you!) that I wanted to contribute our trip experience.

My 3 y.o. has anaphylactic food allergies to milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame & mustard. She is highly sensitive and has had multiple severe reactions. We have a pretty tight comfort zone when it comes to food, and we rarely eat out. We all avoid her allergens around her. We also have a two y.o. Also, we are food people who love to eat & cook (and are pretty good at both!)

Disney was amazing. Just fabulous. We had a villa, so we made some (simple) meals ourselves. Most days were ate out once at a sit down restaurant, although we got snacks 3 days and ate at a counter service once as well.

Our 1st night was Narcoosee's. Noah, the chef, and his food lived up to our high expectations. My kids loved the fancy straws at the signatures. They had a fruit cup for an app, and for their main course was wild caught Alaskan salmon (one of my pet peeves is feeding kids crappy low quality food, so this was great!), roasted fingerling potatoes & steamed carrots. They scarfed it down in no time and thought it was delicious. He was able to prepare my husband and I wonderful entrees (I had sea trout, and I think my husband had scallops.) For dessert we had Divvies cookies. It was our best meal there.

1900 Park Fare's breakfast was next. The chef made us plates of Mickey waffles, bacon & fruit. Everything was yummy!

Citricos was another hit. Again, it was good quality food (steak for my 2 y.o. and grilled chicken for my daughter.) The chef (whose name is escaping me but he was so helpful!) was so thorough and good about giving us options.

Our next meal was Liberty Tree Tavern. I wasn't completely sure about how this one would be (food quality-wise) but we really enjoyed our meal. My carnivore children loved the meat plate, they were able to make dairy-free mashed potatoes, and the green beans were fabulous. The dessert there was awesome - raspberry sorbet with fresh fruit. We love Divvies, but it was nice to have something different.

We then ate at Le Cellier. Everything was good, and I liked that the waiter included himself in the conversation with the chef.

Raglan Road was another hit. My poor husband barely got any of the scallops he ordered for an app because my kids devoured them. The food was good, but it was more "chain restaurant" quality than we are used to. We were with a very large party that night, and we still were able to feel comfortable that our daughter could eat safely.

The last meal was Chef Mickey's. The food was the same as at 1900 Park Fare, although we did need to ask specifically for bacon & fruit that was not off the buffet. It was a fun way to end our trip!

Every park had Divvies available at one location (Magic Kingdom had the most options - everywhere else was just cookies.)

If you are grocery shopping in the area, we needed to do both Whole Foods & Kroger's (just up the road.) We couldn't find safe sandwich bread at Whole Foods.

It was such a great trip. And as much as I enjoy cooking, it was such a treat to eat a yummy meal out everyday. We can't wait to return to Disney!

it was fun reading your write-up. it is great that those restaurants were so accommodating. i agree with you, i want descent food for my kids too :)

I, too love the chance to not cook on vacation and be more relaxed.

Narcossee's continues to be our favorite.

Thanks for reporting back!! I'm so glad to hear that you had a great experience. Isn't Disney the BEST!

Just an FYI for next time: Most CS places at AK and DHS have the Enjoy Life cookies and they're DELICIOUS.

Loved reading your write-up. We were pleasantly surprised by LTT too, especially the safe mashed potatoes and gravy. Now I have some ideas for new restaurants to try next time.

It sounds like maybe they prepared safe food for your whole party? My DSs allergies aren't so bad that we need that, but I think it's really cool if they did that for you.

Thanks for the great reviews! I just ate at LTT and was also surprised how good it was with special diets! I really loved the sorbet too! Thanks again for the reviews :thumbsup2

I'm now getting really excited for my upcoming ADR at LTT. I've booked there before but cancelled for one reason or another. This time I've got a great time that fits well with our touring pattern so I'm sure we'll keep it.

I'm curious about the mashed pototoes I keep reading about. Are they the really smooth kind or do they have skins and/or intentional chunks? DD12 loves mashed potatoes but is VERY fussy about them. They have to have the pureed texture of instant (I don't make instant but I do whip them with a mixer) for her to eat them. Other places have done up fancier style mashed with some skins and chunks and I feel bad that the chefs go to this trouble to make them and then she won't eat them.

My dd's mashed potatoes were smooth and yummy! LTT is a MUST DO for our family - it's one of dd's favorites! (She is milk, peanut and tree nut allergic).

I'm an instant mashed potatoes lover myself. I would decribe the mashed potatoes as normal homemade mashed potatoes. Not perfectly smooth, but not chunky in a gourmet sort of way and I'm pretty sure I didn't see skins. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing they have a batch made up for special diets customers that are free of most common allergens. So I don't think they're going to extra lengths on the spot. I say that because I don't think you'd need to feel too bad if she turned her nose up at them. Same for the gravy. The chef described it as being made with the beef drippings and cornstarch so I'm guessing it's made up to accomodate gluten and many other dietary restrictions. We don't avoid gluten, so if had been custom made they could have used flour. Also, my DS was brought such a large platter of safe versions of everything we were eating, except for mac n cheese, no chef could have expected a child to finish it all, therefore I don't think they'd notice what went eaten and what went untouched. My favorite part of that meal was how DS got to eat essentially the same meal as us, he just had to eat off of his own plate instead of from the family bowls.

Here's a pic of DS's meal after some eating (I kept forgetting to take photos before he dug in). You can see the mashed potatoes a little.

I thought the LTT mashed potatoes were pretty smooth, myself. No skins and no major chunks either (compared w/50's PT which was skins and chunks!), and they were pretty tasty (not as good as PT IMO, but still pretty tasty!) I have a pic on my blog of them--I tried attaching them here, but the file was HUGE!

The Mickey waffles are egg free?

My son has peanut and egg allergies so we usually avoid waffles because some have egg. We are going on a make a wish trip for my daughter in Dec. so I was glad to read this!

I guess I have to find out more about divvies, huh? They are cookies?

Thanks!

Normal Mickey waffles are NOT egg free, but most of the breakfast buffets will make your DS a safe Mickey waffle. It will likely also be dairy and gluten free because they use separate waffles makers that are dedicated to accomodating a wide range of dietary restrictions. Still they are very good. Divvies makes cookies and other treats that are dairy, egg, and nut free. Disney stocks them at several places and they are often provided to food allergic diners for dessert. They are also available for purchase at the Main St bakery and many counter service places.

You need to send Special Diets an email. They will send you a lot of information about where to find special foods and a form for you to list your reservations so the chefs know you are coming ahead of time.

Great update to your blog snorris! Thanks for keeping this up trip after trip.

Thanks! I'm still working on getting all my reviews from this trip in--slowly but surely! Work and grad school seem to suck up most of my free time!

Yep, this is true--they do gluten free/dairy free/egg free/etc. so that they can cover most of the common allergies. Though, honestly, you can't tell they are gluten and dairy free--they are delicious!!! I love those Mickey waffles--my family even loves eating them too, when I (on the rare occasion) don't eat all of mine...though mostly I scarf them down pretty quickly myself! What can I say?! Those things are GOOD! :lmao:

Thank you so much for the info, we have an adr for breakfast at akershus so I'll call the number they provided to make sure he can get the egg free waffles!

Can your son have anything that was processed in the same plant as peanut/tree nuts? If not make sure you tell them you need them to make the waffles from the namaste mix and NOT bob's red mill. Bob's Red mill flour is processed in a plant that makes almond and some other tree nut flour.
