Title changes-we just added our adult children

This is pretty far down the line for me, but I want to make sure I'm prepared. Does Disney only allow these transfers/additions with children? I'm looking to buy my first resale contract but if/when I decide to add on direct, I'd want to add my family (sister [married with kids] and parents so if they go without me they can still have the perks)
AFAIK, you can add anyone age 18+ that you want.

But I would think long and hard about who I’d share ownership with. Every individual owner would have the right to book and cancel reservations, bank and borrow points, etc., and they’d be responsible for paying dues too. Not to mention that DVC would be an asset that would count when applying for college financial aid and could be ordered to be sold in case of divorce, bankruptcy, etc.

To add to what Carol said, a direct contract with different owners means you’d have a different membership.

It would mean you’d not be able to use points between your resale contract and your direct contract without transferring between them.

Owners are limited to only one transfer in or out per UY.

To combine into one membership, you’d have to retitle the resale first to match what you want the direct to be.

I just read in the HRR that one owner is considered the primary owner and if there is a dispute beteeen owners, the primary owners decisions override the others.

Does not prevent someone from making or canceling, etc…but I didn’t realize that language even existed!

That's cool that there's a "primary". I'm not too plussed about my family having booking access as I'm the designated Disney adult in the family, so I doubt they'll be doing much. And if they do, I'd be happy to have them take the reigns on a trip!

Just thought I'd add that although the primary purchaser is usually the principal contact, it isn't always the case. The principal contact does not even need to be a DVC member and is a separate designation.

As per DVC:

The Principal Contact is the individual who will act on behalf of all Purchasers in case there is any disagreement among multiple Purchasers regarding the use of a real estate interest. The Principal Contact may be someone other than a Purchaser or Associate. A Principal Contact is not entitled to the benefits or privileges of Membership in the Disney Vacation Club unless he or she is also a Purchaser.
