Will we make it? LL time and dinner…

So essentially my options seem to be….let Disney get away with charging me money for a ride time I didn’t select and I go eat my dinner at Boma…or I keep the ride time I didn’t select and Disney gets to charge me money for a missed Dinner reservation. So either way Disney got to rip me off in some fashion today.
Not that I have experience with this particular situation, but I'd be really surprised if you aren't able to get that no-show fee waived for your ADR by explaining to guest services what happened. Still though, I'd also be super frustrated in your situation. This new G+/ILL booking system just plain sucks.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Changing our dinner to 7pm, we tapped into Rise right at 5:05pm and got on pretty quick. Immediately after the ride we headed for the exit and an Animal Kingdom Lodge bus was pulling up within 2 minutes of our arrival at the bus stops. Perfect timing. We were at Animal Kingdom Lodge with 30 mins to spare before we could even check in for dinner. Sorry for my earlier freak out.

Glad it all worked out for you!!

As someone who uses Disney gift cards frequently I’ll probably use a credit card the next time I book an ILL. If I’m unable to make the time after it changes during the purchase and GS doesn’t help me the next person they would be hearing from is a representative from my credit card company. There is no excuse for the time changing after you make the last tap to purchase - you should know exactly what you’re getting.

This is exactly my plan.

Good idea!

No apology necessary! It is the system. You are supposed to be on vacation and not trapped by tech.

Good idea. If people start issuing charge backs for Disney’s IT design failure, maybe that will eventually get them to change

At Thanksgiving, we showed up for our Remy ILL at least 30 minutes after the hour window, maybe even more than an hour. No one said anything; our bands scanned fine. Our time wasn’t even listed anymore. We didn’t even have to talk to a CM. I don’t know if they have started cracking down or not though. I think they are more lenient when you buy ILL vs just a G+.

Interesting. Good to know. Thanks!

This is one huge reason we are only doing 4 ADRs over our 10 day trip. I don’t want to deal with the conflicts. If we want to we will book same day ADRs but we are fine doing QS places. There’s tons of places we want to try anyway.

Boma probably would have been more accommodating than tech support for LL. There have been times we’ve shown up 30 min late for our reservations (Biergarten Candlelight Processional Package, Topolino’s dinner, California Grill ahahah…) and the CMs were nice enough to check us in nonetheless and get us seated at the next available opening. Haven’t gotten charged yet for a no show fee but YMMV.

I am glad that this worked out for the OP, but this is a major blunder of the Genie+ system. How can families book dining reservations 1-60 days in days only to have Genie+ fail to take those reservations into account when serving up a time slot?

When this happens, please do two things. I goto Guest Services and the Blue Shirts (both if you have time) and complain that Genie+ gave you a reservation time different from the one you selected, and that it interferes with your dining reservation that you made X days ago and ask them why your dining reservation wasn't taken into consideration.

Then call your restaurant and tell them that Genie+ booked your LL in a manner that affects your dining reservation. That you know face a decision of being penalized $15 a person for your Genie+ selection, or $10 a person for a dining cancelation.

Both Guest Services AND Restaurants needs to hear the complaint that Genie+ isn't working with the rest of the vacation planning system. If both departments hear more of this they will have enough data to make some changes.

I also think just talking to the CM at the attraction and showing them your ADR should be fine, if your bands don’t just let you in. I have heard of people doing this for G+, since you can’t pick your time. Since ILL isn’t honoring times either, I think it should be treated similarly.

Excellent idea. Three of or party of six had Remy scheduled for 4:30 in early January. Left CR and went to EPCOT and walked to Remy and it was closed down. They said to come back later. Could not go back later as all six of us had dining reservations. So lose LL dollars for three or lose dinner reservations for all six??? We had rope dropped for Test Track and Mission Space that morning. We did not want to go all the way back for Remy but that was the time we were dealt. Then to have it closed. So dislike the whole Genie LL mess.

I believe you have the option to get a refund at GS if a ride breaks down during your window and you aren't able to ride later that day, but with today's technology it should be possible to request the refund through the app. In my opinion, I think the only reason they haven't offered this is because they know many aren't willing to stand in line at Guest Relations or wait hours on hold over the phone to request the refund and in many cases they'll get to just keep the money.

Welp, like many posts before mine I have to report trying to get a paid LL for Rise this morning, only to have my time changed significantly by the time I paid for it! And I was lightning quick too! Selected 1pm slot, and by the time I checked out it changed to 5:10pm! And of course you don’t find this out until you’ve paid! This is such shadiness by Disney!

Well, we have a 6:15pm dinner reservation for Boma tonight. Do you think we will make it, providing Rise is working during our window? (It went down multiple times the other day when we were there). Do you think if we tapped in during the 5 minute early grace period, we would get done with the ride and be able to get to Boma via the Disney busses in time, or would we have to Uber to be safe? I’m so mad at Disney this morning! This system is seriously a joke.

This is going to seriously irritate me, I can already see it coming. You get up at the crack of dawn to make your ADR's before your trip, THEN get up at 7 while ON vacation, only to cross your fingers that the time slot you're paying for is actually the slot you'll get. And if it's not, and the time you're given conflicts with one of those ADR's you busted your butt for 60 days ago, you have to either move or cancel the ADR or go stand in line at CS? This system honestly sounds awful. i hope you get it worked out.

Your thoughts are right on point!! We experienced this exact situation!!! Per going to Guest Services to get refunds when a ride you had a LL for - then it is closed due to a malfunction and you can't get back because of a dining reservation............. two thoughts - when do you have time to stand in line at Guest Services to get a refund if it is even possible on the same day due to keeping the dining reservation and 2. Why should the WDW ride emergency closure become my problem? Have a great trip but expect to be annoyed!!! Of our group of six over 60s, I am the only one that wishes to return. >:( SSad.
