We are planning a visit to Disney for Thanksgiving & are considering staying at the SSR. Where is the best room location? How are the buses? Is it good for kids under 5? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Michelle

We are DVC members at SSR and I can tell you that we LOVE it. We will be there in two weeks for the third time. If you want to see DTD at night (PI Fireworks and lights) then you should stay in Congress Park. You really can't go wrong with any of the locations though. If you like a relaxed, upscale feeling but comfortably down-to-earth resort with all the amenities possible, great location and superior staff, then SSR is a great choice. If you have any other questions (Specific rooms), just let me know.

We're staying at SSR again in September and can't wait! It is a beautiful resort and one of our DVC "homes".

For kids, there's a play area, the pool, and one of those splashy areas where the water shoots out of the ground. Also, there are bike rentals, organized activites in Community Hall, and Downtown Disney is a quick walk or boat ride away. The Spa even has a few treatments just for kids (albeit pricey).

We've only stayed in the Congress Park section, but some of the Springs (closer to the main pool) buildings are now open as well.

Good luck with your decision!

It depends on your tastes and the way you like to vacation. We do not like this resort for our family. We like to be pampered and RELAX on vacation. We like to spend leisurely days lounging poolside. We like to eat breakfast in the room, lunch poolside, and then upon returning to the room dial up room service. This is tough to do at SSR. Food is not served poolside. You must go inside to AP ( which has an extremely limited menu) for any food. There are maybe 4-6 tables poolside to eat at anyway. Good luck getting out early enough to get one of those. AP at the moment is the only place on site to eat. The menu is small and the food so so. No room service! The Resort is spread out so if you are in the last building of Congress Park it is a haul with a family to the main pool. On the plus sides the pool is nice, the gym and spa great. Visually the Resort is very pretty. In a nutshell if your family plans to use this as a home base and be out and about a lot then you'll love it. If you are like us and want more service and don't want to be forced into eating off property or cooking in room then you might not like it. I've been ripped on these boards before for posting my view of this Resort. I hope this helps you out a little in deciding if this resort is for you. This place seems like more of a condo type Resort compared to a more hotel like experience of BWV, BCV or VWL. We are hotel type people I guess. I hope you have a great trip. Any day in WDW is better than a day at home. :)
