Will we get to see the CP?

We do not have a dinner package. We will be at Epcot on December 23, and plan to leave for home that day. I had thought about leaving at 3:00 (we have an 18 hour drive).

NOW, I see that Robby Benson is reading at the CP and there is a 5:00 pm program. I have always like him! Our wedding song was from his movie Ice Castles.

So a part of me wants to stay for this program, but I am wondering if it is worth it. Will I actually get to 'hear' him even if we don't see him? Will they turn people away, or is there standing room for anyone wanting to see the program?

It would mean not leaving the park until about 6:30 pm, making it longer for us to drive the next day.

If I thought I would get to see the program, I would stay. But if it is a BIG possibility we won't get to see it, we will leave earlier.

Can anyone fill me in on what to expect? Thanks!

Oh, I hope this works out for you!

Here's what I know: You don't have to have a dinner package to see the show. You would, however, probably want to make sure to line up very early in order to get a seat for the CP. It might also, seeing as it's so special to you, be worth seeing if you can make a dinner package reservation.

Even if you don't get into the theater, however, you will still be able to hear (and perhaps even see) the show. On more than one occasion, I've stood outside the theater and, since it's an open-air theater, been able to enjoy the beautiful music and the wonderful readings that make up the CP. I've also been able to see, on occasion - sure, not great, but I could see (truth be told, there's not a whole lot to see once the program begins... the reader is reading, not putting on a major performance). I've seen many, many people enjoy the CP by standing outside the theater and simply listening.

Also, if you are in line and don't seem to be getting in, don't give up! We stayed in line for at least 10 minutes after the show began, because we still could hear the show, unfortunately bushes were in the way and we couldn't see very much. Well, all of a sudden we moved, and had great seats, in fact, 3-5 minutes after we were seated, there were still people coming in. Where these extra seats came from I do not know.

DH and I were so thrilled with the show, that we made reservations for a dinner and show for the next night, which was a Monday. We didn't need the reservations because the park wasn't nearly as crowded, not even 25% of the number of people who were there the night before. This was a full week before Christmas last year.

I think the show is worth the stay, we're going again this year.

We won't have time to eat dinner after the show. If we could do a 'lunch' package, we would consider that, but we have to head out as soon as it is over. So we will have to take our chances on the stand by line. Thanks for the information! I am going to wait until that day and see how DH and my two DD's are doing, and if they are not tired, I am going to ask them to go to this with me.

Thanks!
