Whilst reflecting upon our upcoming trip, and psuedo-planning, I decided to go through the bag(s) that we typically take with us.
And I discovered something tragic!
Something horrid!
Something...very sad.
Last year's backpack caved under the strain my dears! The strain of too many outfits, diapers, and wipes. The strain of TK, will you just put this in your bag for me, and oh, the ponchos, THE PONCHOS!!!!
It's got a hole. And it's of a goodly size. Now, normally, a hole would not phase me. Patch it, fix it, move on. Sadly this hole is on the seam, and is a complete rip up the seam, and belongs to the main/largest compartment of the bag.
Houston, we have a problem. This bag is not cleared for a Pirate's Life for Three.
Dagnabit, I knew I shouldn't have been so smug about DH carrying everything.
CURSES!!!!!
So here we are. In the land of what bag am I going to take?
Now, I am totally opposed to buying something new. I am very, very hard on my bags (as evidenced by the rip/hole) and I will not be purchasing something pretty and nice, oh no!
I will be digging through the recesses of my closet and seeing what I can come up with.
Off the top of my head, the frontrunner is a DKNY messenger bag I used in college. It's got separate inner zippered compartments I can keep my wallet/girlie stuff/camera in, a front compartment that will easily fit the autograph book, pens, guide maps...ahem...scrapbooking....ahem..., and the inner pouch should be big enough for two of DS outfits, two pairs of underwear, pajamas, and two overnight diapers. And wipes. And sunblock. You get the idea. I think it'll work.
However, currently I lack the ambition to test my theory.
And I know, before you say, whoa TK, don't load yourself down like some pack mule...the reason I'm picking this, hopefully, is the messenger style is easy for either myself or DH to carry, and truthfully, we won't be carrying it that much. It'll reside in the bottom of the stroller. Another criteria for said bag. How easily does it fit in the bottom of the stroller. Because I am quite sick of hauling that backpack in and out of there for every single security check...although we're not hopping, so I guess there should be less of those.
Anyhoo

that's my sad tale of woe.
Alas, dear backpack, we loved you well.
Maybe DH can still patch it.
