Ive always found the slowest times to go, but got a chance to go with family on Sept. 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th 8th, & 9th. How will this time compare to ...say January or first two weeks of Feb? Last year we got lucky and went before the hurricane hit (Sept 20th). It followed us home. This time if there's no hurricanes will it be bad? I know noone is a soothsayer here, but based on your previous experiences on this popular weekend... whatcha think??? Just the WORDS "labor day" scare me, and I picture hordes of people
(I like the banana.)

I've been there that weekend and it was crowded and hot. If you are used to going in January it WILL be different but you can still have fun if you plan it out a little.

I'm going to need to watch this thread since i will be going the week of the 3rd-10th and very courious what others think, i've only been durring july 3 times and durring the 2nd week of march so i'm thinking for me this week in sept will be less crouded then the other two... hopping anyways!!!

Thanks                      (The banana is cool)

We are going from the 8th to the 13th. I'm guessing the weekend following won't be bad guven that I called for a PS this past weekend and had plenty of options for Chef Mickey's breakfast.

We have gone during Labor Day Week numerous times and will be there again this year. We have always found it to be a wonderful time to be there. Not busy at all. I'm wondering if this might change now that they are offering the free dining plan during that time. The last time we were there during this week was in 2002. Last year we went during the week of Columbus Day in October and it was much more crowded than what we are used to during the first week in Sept. We didn't go in 2003 because I was expecting DD and didn't feel up to it. So I'm hoping it hasn't changed but if it is like it used to be, it's a wonderful time to go as far as crowds are concerned. See you there! :flower:

Thanks! All input is appreciated. I'm doing my last minute deciding. Gotta let them know by tomorrow.

will be there 5th thru the 11th - The dining plan may make it a little more crowded - and too the Night of Joy Concerts on the 9th and 10th in Magic Kingdom will make it a lot more crowded.

This will be our third year going over Labor Day week. The weekend of Labor Day is very crowded, however the day of Labor Day I have found is dead! I even found myself going up to rides and asking if they were open because there were NO LINES!

Now, like other's said it may be busier this year because of the dining plan. But because it's the first week of school you probably will only encouter, singles and parents with young children.

If I could that would be the week we go each year!

We'll be there the 4th through the 10th

this is good to hear we were wondering about the labor day and wonderered if we should do a park that day or head over to the beach...

Whats the dining plan? Ive seen this mentioned a lot lately.

I stumbled across a page on mousesavers where they listed the best times of the year to go and Labor day weekend was specifically mentioned! Unfortunately, it was at the bottom of their list, but at least it was there!

I've heard numerous times that LD weekend tends to be a bit busy, but then it just dies Monday. We are heading in on the 3rd and stay until the 9th! Can't wait- we'll probably just do DTD and get settled on Saturdaya s it will probably be busy. Have fun!

Our last trip was over labor day, and it was packed! (on Sunday) so Monday we skipped the parks, and the rest of the week was awesome- Untill 9/11 happened, that is! but that different. Anyway, if you avoid the weekend, the rest of the week should be wonderfull.

Go ahead and go for it. Most of the schools will start the tuesday after labor day. Ours here in Georgia start tomorrow and monday (Atlanta area). I have found it quiet easy still to make AR changes for that week. We are going 9-3 - 9-11. I think with the dining plan there may be a few extra people, but not overly crowded. Now I pray I am right.... :rotfl:

For your stay you can get the Free dining plan if it is available at your resort, just call CRO and ask about this plan. Hurray I think time may be running out to reserve this. You get 1 Counter meal and 1 Table service meal and 1 snack per night of your stay. So if you stay 5 nights, each person will received 5 of these and it is good to use up until midnight of the day you check out. You do have to purchase at least 1 day pass from Disney to get the plan.

We are also going Sept. 3-10 this year, after trips the last 2 years in July (both years, the week after July 4th). No way it could be busier in Sept. than it is in July. No way.

We will be there Sept. 3-10 as well. On touringplans.com (website of the unofficial guide to DisneyWorld), it lists the crowd level at a 4 that entire week (except Saturday the 3rd which is a level 7). Crowd levels usually range from 4 to 10, so this looks like a GREAT week to go. They have done a lot of research on this!

Quote from website:
How We Determine Crowd Levels and Best Days
A number of factors contribute to the models we use to predict both crowd levels and the best days to visit each theme park. Data we use to predict crowd levels include:

Historical park hours from the same time period in previous years
Disney's special events calendar (e.g., Grad Nights, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, etc.)
Legal holidays in the United States
Public school schedules (including spring break schedules for the 50 largest public school districts east of the Mississippi, plus Massachusetts and Connecticut)
Weekly historical occupancy rates for Orlando-area hotels
Central Florida tourism demographics
Actual wait time statistics gathered in the parks
Our own surveys of Disney guest touring habits
Disney's Extra Magic Hours schedule
Special events calendars
U.S. legal holidays
Outside sources (e.g., the U.S. Department of Transportation, Consumer Reports, etc.)

This translates into the following peak wait time at MK headliner attractions (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc):

Level 4 35-45 minutes
Level 7 65-74 minutes

Remember these are PEAK waiting times for HEADLINER attractions. You can always get a Fastpass.

That was GREAT info! Thanks!
