You probably won't wind up using the old lens on the new camera anyway, since the new camera will come with its own 18-55 kit lens. When you take the conversion factor into account, the 18-55 lens gives you the same field of view on a Canon DSLR that your 28-80 gave you on a Canon film SLR.
The 18-55 kit lens included with many Canon DSLRs is a very nice lens, sharp, fast-focusing, and clear. 18mm is a great wide angle for landscape shots, and 55 is a nice moderate zoom. I used my 18-55 kit lens on one WDW trip after I bought my Digital Rebel and was very pleased with the pics I got from it.
I did want a longer zoom for stuf like Kilamanjaro Safari, however, so I wound up buying a Sigma 18-125. My 18-125 hasn't been to WDW yet but it has the same field of view on my Digital Rebel as my old Sigma 28-200 had on my film Rebel. I took that film Rebel and 28-200 on many WDW trips and found it to be almost the perfect walkaround lens (everybody wishes for a bit longer zoom or a bit wider wides at times).
