Hi Everyone , I know each has pros and cons and my trip isn't till Late Oct 2004 -Nov 2004 but can you tell my which you would choose and why .. Both are deluxe hotels but Poly is 100 more a night ( is that as its on the monorail line ? ) Its just me and my kids ages DD 10 and DS 8 at the time of travel - they love swiming and slide ( both have ample pools and each a slide ) not only is WL less but it offers bunk beds ( a seperate bed each AHHH ) Thanks for any input .. Michelle

I think the bunkbed set-up alone is worth staying at the WL! I wish more resorts had this type of sleeping arrangement! My two boys are horrible when it comes to sleeping with each other, "he's stealing all the covers" and "he won't stay on his side of the bed" etc, etc, etc!

I've stayed at both the WL and the Poly now, and I will say that the WL has an edge over the Poly, at least for me it does. The Poly has better transportation, hands down. But the WL is so incredibly themed, that you tend to not worry about how you are getting to the park! It has such a warm and inviting atmosphere!

It's my second favorite resort, with the Dolphin being number 1!

I don't know if you would get $100 a night improvement over staying at the WL honestly. I have to preface my comments by saying that I have never stayed at the Poly, but we just came back from the WL and had a great time. The Lodge seems to have a great atmosphere for kids and we found the transportation to be great for the most part. The boat ride to the MK was fun and the busses to the other attractions all worked well... The rooms are smaller than the Poly and you don't have a monorail, but still I think the money you would save would outweigh any negatives... anyway my thoughts.... steve c

I've stayed at both and prefer the Poly. To me it is worth $100 or more to stay at that resort. The pool is much bigger and the slide bigger and more fun at the Poly. My 4 y/o DD loves that pool and I love the Lava Flows served at the poolbar! The beach is beautiful and so much bigger and better then at the WL. The view from the beach of the MK and water parade are great too. Another good thing is that the beach is right up against the pool area, literally. So you can lounge by the pool and see the kids playing right next to you on the beach. The rooms are also huge compared to the WL! If you want the kids to have their own beds then the Poly can also work since they have a twin size daybed in all the rooms. So one kid gets a queen bed and the other gets the daybed. Being on the monorail is just one small perk and also well worth that alone. I could go on and on about the Poly with its fantastic kid friendly restaurants and activities! The WL is a beautiful resort I have to admit but the Poly is the ultimate. :D

I just got back from the WL and really liked it. I will warn you though, if you get a room that opens into the lobby area, switch your room! We were assigned to a room that opened up to the lobby and it was way to nosy. The restaurant on the first floor by the entrance is very loud and they ring a bell. We were easily switched to a room not opening up to the lobby and it was much better. The bunk beds are a huge plus with kids, my girls loved them. Also, I noticed a lot of construction going on at the Poly so I don't know if it would all be completed by your stay or not.

We are a family that loves the WL- that is always our first choice- the kids love the geyser, the pool, the deco, and I love that it is all in one building. Yes, we will be staying Poly Concierge this time because with the FTP this may be the only time I can....otherwise we would be at the WL.

Have been to both. They are both great hotels. My dh prefers the WL, I prefer the Poly. Room sizes are a big difference. It depends on how old your kids are. If they are small, WL is fine, and bunk beds are great. Our room at the Poly were the largest we have ever had. (and that depends on which bldg you get) I love the Poly and it's tropical feel. At night, it is gorgeous. The WL has great theming. We were in a courtyard room and the view was great, but one night we went to bed early for an early morning trek to the parks and some were swimming in the pool and were quite noisy. I would always get a woods view from now on. It has been awhile now, but transportation was really slow when we were there. We ended up driving to the parks. So, I guess I am not helping much, but my advice is to decide what your priorities are.....if it is $, you will definitely be happy at WL. The Poly has about priced me out now. If you would like to be on the monorail, poly is a great location. Bus service from poly was good too. Both pools are good. Let us know what you choose!

We have stayed at WL 15 times and Poly once. We just didn't like the Poly.

Pluses for the WL in my opinion are, each room has a balcony or patio(1st. floor) some rooms at Poly have no balcony. The WL has two sinks in separate room from shower and stool area. The WL has hot tubs and Poly doesn't. Bunk beds at WL and none at Poly. We found the boat from WL to MK to be efficient and pleasant.

We like the overall theme of WL much better than the Poly. This of course is different from person to person.

Room Size Poly 409 sq ft (largest of the Deluxe)
WL 340 Sq ft (smallest of the Deluxe)

At the Poly you can also walk to the TTC and take the Monorail to Epcot. And with MK Monorail at your disposal you have easy access to a number of good restaurants.

For a family I say the Poly hands down.
However I do like the WL for a nice childless stay.

I do have to say that I was torn about this too. We were booked for 7 nights at WL before the FT pkg. came out. But my dd has always wanted to stay at the Polynesian. So, with the new pkg we were able to change our resort for about $300 more. The next time we go, it will be to WL though. But for this Aug trip in the heat/humidity, I think the monorail access and the access to TTC will be terrific. And the Polynesian does have the character breakfast at Ohana. And the pool overlooking the water and the castle.
