Hello all fellow banana heads....Cannot believe we are 19 days out from our great cruise....I work in a supermarket in New York and will be flying out on Friday night....leaving on an 8:40 p.m. flight out of Kennedy International....getting into Orlando a little after midnight....we are staying at the Wingate Inn....which is real close to the airport...just wanted an inexpensive room to get a good night sleep and not have to fly out in the morning....so...if anyone has stayed there I would appreciate any info...

My wife and I are truly looking forward to this cruise. Over the past couple of years, we have had some tough times. Just a small background is needed. We had a house fire on July 4, 2004. Unfortunately, we lost our home and our beloved pets. We lived in a hotel for 10 months, and finally moved back into our home last year. After we moved back home(and I must say thank you Lord for good insurance....since our insurance company was great and really took care of us) we adopted a beautiful black lab....he was a spitting image of one of our dogs we lost in the fire. He was just a real good dog, but unfortunately he developed liver cancer and passed away. On the brighter side, we have adopted 2 puppies, a Corgi and another black lab....and as much as they are driving me nuts with all the puppy stuff....digging holes in the backyard....chewing on new furniture....they keep me smiling....sooooooooooooo.....we really are looking forward to sitting back....relaxing and thanking the Lord for another day.....and believe me, when you come so close to dying, since the fire happened during the middle of the night and we were very lucky to get out, you thank him for each day on this earth.
Truly looking forward to a MAGICal cruise with all of you MAGICal people!

Good morning,

Tom, I know what you mean, after being in critical condition 4 times I look at life a lot differently these days, and I dont sweat the small stuff and I am thankful for each and every day!! Even the bad days are better than no days!!
Your puppies will keep you busy!! We adopted an abused dog 4 months ago and she is just a little over 1 year old now. She keeps me really busy and is still cutting some teeth, so we have to watch for the chewing problems too.

We have a sandy patch around our pool deck that she wants to dig in. There are electric wires burried there for the pool and they could kill her if she bites them, so this weekend we are putting down chicken wire over all the sandy areas, bury it in the sand and cover with a thick layer of mulch. Then if she decides to dig again she cant reach the wires!! I was afraid when we were gone on this cruise she would start digging out of boredom. So we are gonna fix it this weekend.

Well they say we have a chance of showers today, but I wont believe it until I see it!! We really need it, so I hope they are right. Gonna be in the low 80's so it will be nice even if it does rain.

I am still working on my last door sign, jsut cant seem to get it to look right. Oh well, I will try again today.

Hope everyone has a great day.
We will see who gets their Docs first!!
I hope it's me!!!

Kathy

Good Morning Nana Heads!!!

Another day to mark off the calendar.

Tom: I admire your attitude about your tough times. I'm sure you and Marilou enjoy your puppies. Dave and I had our share of tough times about 12 years ago, but it made us stronger as individuals and as a couple.

Meeting a friend for breakfast in a few minutes. Have a great day!

Jan

Jan,
my door signs are all the magnetic sheets I buy at WalMart. When I am done with them I wrap some saran wrap around them and then slide them back into the original packet they came in .

Then lay them at the back of the carry on bag where they lay flat under other things. So far all have made it ok. I think sliding and extra piece of cardboard in the packet would really insure they wont get bent too.

Where is everyone this morning??
Maybe I need to get out the WHIP!!! :rolleyes1
We only have 18 days and we have a lot more posts to make our goal, so lets get with it people!!!
Remember some of you will be arriving a few days before the cruise and wont be posting then, so we need to keep posting hot and heavy while we are all here to do so!!! ;)

Going to take Minnie for a nice long walk, when I get back I will expect to see a few more posts!!!! :thumbsup2 Just because youa re at work, is NO excuse for not posting!! You just gotta be sneaky and do it!!

Good Morning     ,
Well it was a rough night last night because DS was up till 1:30am and I was not feeling good. Poor DH was up and he had to go to work. Everyday wehn he gets hom is has the countdown till the cruise!! Today I have Mommy and Me and then I am coming home and relaxing. My sister was mad at me because I did not go down to my Mom's house for her birthday. It made me so mad because for my birthday my sister was in Mexico on Spring Break and she did not even get me a card or gift and plus she doesn't care about hoe her nephew is feeling or me. Well enough about that!! Well I am going to get DS dressed. Talk to you later!!!

Kathy: Your door sounds good :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 . I wish pixiedust: pixiedust: I had the time to make one :Pinkbounc .

Tom: Enjoy your puppies :dog: :dog: :dog: !! Wow you and your wife are very strong people!! Well the future can only hold good things for you :grouphug: !! Where do you live in NY because I am from NY???

Pat: Drew has one tooth coming in on the top but nothing else. I did not try the Cheerios yet because he is still out of it from his shots. I will let you know when I do. You should try Gerber Fruit Puffs with Laura. Drew likes thoses alot!!

Good morning everyone. I am a little scared of Kathy so thought I should add my post to the count LOL.

I am starting to feel the pinch of the cruise coming closer. I feel pretty unorganized. I think I need to finalize my clothes and then will feel alot better. I just want to try everything on and make sure it still fits. I need to buy the pantyhose etc and match up jewellery for semi and formal nights. I also got a pretty cheap 'shrug' at Walmart - I like it and the price was right but I want to change the button so need to find a place with fancy buttons. I also need to pick up some shoes for semi and pirate - found them at Payless just haven't bought yet. I am a little worried about my pirate outfit. The person on ebay is going to be cutting it a little close with the dates so that should leave me stressing to the last minute! I also need to get DH and DS to try on their outfits to make sure we have everything. I will feel better once some of these things start to fall into place. I think I can sneak a bit of time from work today so might try and make it over to the Bay (dept store up here) to get a few things. And - make a list!!!!!! When in doubt, list it out I always say LOL.

Tom and Marilou - sounds like it has been a rough go of it and I am glad you can have this trip to look forward to and relax! We had a tragedy on the DIs boards a while back (my purple ribbon is in remembrance) and it was a fire caused by leaving their computer on and it overheating. We now turn our computer off whenever not using it. Fire is a big fear of mine! Anyway - on to better things :grouphug:

Lynn hope you are feeling better and Drew gets back to himself quickly. DS had his 4 year immunizations the other week and I was crying with him  Kids really get to ya!

tonya - your return envelope is sitting on my desk. I promise to get it out to you today!! :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Banana Heads

Tom, welcome to the POFC Club (that's Parents of Furry Children!). Bill and I lost our best friend, Sam, last year ... he was a lab mix, 12 years old, but had diabetes and arthritis. The arthritis finally took him, but oh, how we miss him! Not a day goes by that we don't mention his name! And I'm sure Bob will chime in soon as he has a couple of black labs, too. He even posted some puppy pictures on here a while back of a litter they had! Oh, so cute!!!

Some of us are down to only 12 work days till we leave! :woohoo: I cannot believe how close we are, can you?!

Catch up with you later. Keep those posts coming so Kathy doesn't beat all of us up! :lmao:

Wow, I have missed alot in 2 days, On Sunday DH had to take me to the emergency room in the middle of the night. I have been having a cold and on Sunday the coughing was so bad I couldn't breathe, they gave me more meds in the ER and I spent all day yesterday in bed and plan on doing the same today.

Shell, no flu shot for me my doc actually tells me not to take it

Tom, welcome to the gang :grouphug:

Good Morning Everyone!

Tom: I agree, great attitude that you guys have taken. I LOVE the following quote from Charles Swindoll:

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes."

I hope everyone has a great day! We are rainy and foggy here this morning in Atlanta.

I had a dream the other night about the cruise. I was looking at Two Palms on Sunday and saw the waves were pretty rough, so I think that is what influenced it. I dreamed that Lisa and I got to the Port, she saw the waves, and said "I'm not getting on that ship, I'll be sick all week!" Then I woke up, so I have no clue whether or not she ever got on the ship! :confused3

Tom your and your wife's courage is a inspiration to us all. I look foward to meeting you and Marilou.

Kathy, I need some information about these door signs. Do you do them like a scrapbook page or design them on the computer? Just wondering, I was thinking about doing them, but I seem to be at a loss of how to start.

Sarah, NP on the check.

Everyone have a great Tuesday.

Good Morning All    ,
Wow, being sick with an infant is not fun ;) !! All I want to do is go to bed and DS wants to play and watch Elmo. Well let me go and see if DS will take a nap!! Talk to you later!!

What do the door signs have to say??? :confused3 :confused3

Good mrning everyone, I was trying to catch up from yesterday. I did not get a chance to post.

It is a rainy day here today. Yesterday was great. Bright sunshine :sunny: and warm for this time of year.

We are off to Frankenmuth today. They are famous for their chicken dinners and for the large Christmas store, Brohnners. I think I will hunt for my regional gift today. Frankenmuth is known as Michigans "Little Barvaria" My kids can't wait to go to the Christmas store. I get a free meal in honor of my birthday :) can't beat that!!

Lynn I hope DS is doing ok today after all of those shots :guilty:

Tom I am glad things are going better for you and your wife. I am thankful for each day too! God places storms in our life some times and I think they make us stronger. Have fun with hose puppies.

Well gotta run and get ready to go. :car: Have a good day everyone. I will try to check in later.

Lorna :firefight

I booked Happy Limo's Expedition (since our luggage won't fit in a towncar!) Appreciate all the input.

Good Morning Everyone-

BOB - I LOVED your quote this morning from Charles Swindoll. Thanks so much for sharing it. Have you ever seen him or his sister Lucy? She is an absolute RIOT!!! I've never had the opportunity to see him but I would love to.

LYNN - Sorry DS was up last night! It's so hard to be sick when you are a Mommy. I hope you feel better soon. Here's some pixie dust to help speed up matters pixiedust: pixiedust:

TOM - I admire your attitude towards things and I'm sorry for all that you have gone thru in the past year. I'm glad you are joining us and I'm sure the MAGIC will be wonderful for you guys.

KATHY - YES...please...some input on signs. I bought a bunch of scrapbook stuff and I have some small heavy duty magnetic dots plus a couple of magnetic squares (like you would use on a refrigerator to hold pics). I used to scrapbook so I'm thinking along those lines. Any special tips or ideas you would care to share?

SARAH - care to be stressed out buddies??? I know the cruise is almost here and I KNOW that I have a lot more to do...so why aren't I doing it??? I found out last night that DS's dress slacks don't fit him so I need to go shopping for those now. Other than that DD's clothes and DS's clothes are basically ready to go. Other than that.....ummmm....ummmm....YIKES...I have a long way to go.

I have to take DS to a foot specialist today. He came home from school yesterday complaining of pain in his heel and the bottom of his foot. He's having trouble walking on it. There isn't any swelling, there's nothing stuck in his foot...I don't know what is going on :confused3 . He told me it's been hurting for a few days but he thought it would go away. I hope it's something minor....we've got a ship to get on in a few weeks!

Have a great day everyone!

kelly

Just posting again to make Kathy smile :thumbsup2

Do we still need bananas or are we done yet?

Just in case....

Kelly

Tonya - officially the cheque is now in the mail :thumbsup2

OK, FL residents....I got these directions from mapquest for MCO to the Residence Inn. Can you kindly advise whether you think this is the best way to get there or are there things I should know like rush-hour or construction. We will arrive at MCO around 2pm in the afternoon.

Start out N on Airport Blvd towards S Access Rd - continue to follow Airport Blvd W
Take SR-528-Toll E exit - Exit 1A toward Cocoa/Kennedy Space Centre
Merge onto FL-528 E (portions toll - anyone have any idea how much?? - we can't get US coin up here so I'll have to get some smalls)
FL-528 becomes FL A1A S/Astronaut Blvd
End at 8959 Astronaut Blvd.

Mapquest advised it is 46 miles and would take about 45 mins to get there.

I have confirmed my rental car, flight and hotel ressies. I need to make appts for hair, nails and 'fluff and polish' ;)

I really need to do a bit of work to prove that I have been somewhat productive today so better run. TTFN pirate:

Tonya and Lynn,
Last cruise, I did my door sign on the computer using clip art, a little map of New York with a Pin where i'm from, and including my stateroom number and I forget either first or last name not both. I think it was the -___ wish you a Magical holiday!

This year, I started out on the computer but ended up doing a 12 x 12 scrapbook page with a paper piecing on it, instead. I'm much more comfortable with paper.

What to put on it? What do you want people to know about you? That you're witty, creative, celebrating a birthday, what ever . . . some kind of greeting, perhaps . . .

I see a door sign as being the same thing as the wreath on the door of my home, and the flowers planted outside.

Does that help?

Dutch's mommy - the directions are dead on - that is a straight boring highway.

Tiggerking - great quote!

Tom - welcome aboard!

Lynn - hope you feel better soon.

off to get flu shot.

Hello again everyone,

I haven't checked in for a little while. I have had a horrible cold the last week. I still have a little bit hanging on that just won't leave. It's a constant headache and congestion. ugh!

It's just been very crazy. I finally bought some clothes and things for the cruise but I need tons more other stuff. I really don't want to over pack, but I keep thinking of more things I might need. I decided not to get a formal dress for formal night. I just couldn't find one I liked in the price I wanted. So I just bought a nice pair of pants and a couple of dressy tops to go with them. I think it will be fine. I also got my son some dress clothes. He looks too cute.

I think I will work on some door signs tonight. Hopefully, I can get them put together soon. Well, I want to run. Lots to do today, vote, Walmart for magnets and other stuff on my packing list, Bed Bath and Beyond for curtains and a comforter for my new bed, one daughter goes to PE at the YMCA, another to Field Hockey practice and then Martial Arts, pick up some pictures at Costco. Anything I can do for anyone else?

Welcome Tom, I glad you will get to relax and enjoy this cruise. It's been a bit of a rough year for our family, we are really looking forward to this time as well.

I was sitting here reading all the Rush-Rush-Gotta-Get-This-Done posts, and something occurred to me ... why don't we all just give LYNN our shopping lists and let her do her thing? :rotfl2: Seems to me that would be a whole lot easier, seeing as how she's a shopping pro!!!

Carrie, I found a really pretty eggplant-colored gown marked down to $45 online! Don't know what size you are, but if interested, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.

Well, I made my waxing appointment! (sorry you had to read that, Bob!) I've never done this before so it should be quite an interesting experience :scared1: . Some of the girls in the office swear by it for vacations. And for whomever asked ... Brazilian?! No, I don't think so! :rotfl:

Bob, my dream the other night was that the trip was CANCELLED! So I'm panicking, telling DCL, "You can't do this! We have a whole group of people planning on this!" Kathy and Greg were there with us trying to help, but Kathy was basically just trying to comfort me I think :lmao: .

Lorna, I've heard about that Xmas shop in Frankenmuth! Hope you're having fun!

Jeff, I thought about you the other night. Bill was going through all the shoes he would need for this trip ... the sandals, the sneakers, the dress shoes, the water shoes ... I thought, well guess it's not just Jeff that's going "overboard" on the shoes :lmao: .

Kelly pixiedust: That's for John's foot!
