Wi Fi Connections

I'm desperately trying not to bring my laptop on vacation now that I figured out how to access email on my DS's (13) i-touch.

The Beach Club and Boardwalk to not have wi fi but I remember someone saying that there was a way they could hook up via the internet connections in the room and have wi fi.

Can anyone advise?

I do know the convention center has it but at a cost.

You'd have to bring you own wireless router and set up a wireless network in your room to have WiFi for the Touch.

You'll also need a patch cable, but Disney will provide it.

I thought all DVC'S had wifi? Is this not true?

All the DVC's offer free internet for DVC members but most of the WDW units are not wifi-you have to plug in. As pp said, they supply an ethernet cable in the room.
Our rooms at HHI and VB were wi-fi (we were close to the lobby) but not so at OKW.

Disney has WiFi in the common areas like the lobby and pool. It's not free to members, $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours.

Yep you have to bring your own AP. Which I always do so I can:

o use my laptop without sitting at the desk
o use my iPhone
o share the connection with my wife (yes we bring at least 2 laptops on vacation)

I highly suggest the Apple Airport Express:
o very small (slightly larger than a laptop wall wart)
o no funny antennas or anything hanging off it
o 802.11n
o will act as a IPV6 tunnel endpoint
o works as a USB charger.

And if you really wanted to you could stream music from your laptop to it.

Our rooms at HHI and VB were wi-fi (we were close to the lobby) but not so at OKW.

Just so you know, all rooms at HHI are free wifi now. I think that started in the last few months (sometime last fall?). It's wonderful!
