Why we won't use the Radisson anymore

Ah NOW we're getting somewhere. We've never stayed in anything other than a standard king bed room. Anyone else good/bad want to figure in?

Where were YOU staying when you had your good/bad experience there?

I would say this - the last time we were there there was a debutante(?) ball or prom or something with lots of young adults too dressed up staying there. I can just imagine what they'd use the whirlpool suites for. And if that happens regularly, you can get the picture, I think.

Yikes....sorry to hear you had problems. :(

Our family group stayed at the Rad in Dec. and were very pleased.
We had 5 adj 1st floor rooms w/no problems. We were fortunate to get the rooms @ $59 special. Truthfully, we have stayed in worse for double-triple the price! True, some of the carpet may need redoing, but everything else was clean and cheerful. We enjoyed the fish pond, hot tub and the pool was one of the nicest we've used. The desk clerks were friendly, room service was very timely, food tasty, and can't say enough for the bell hops - we never had to touch a bag. All 32 pcs.+ were delivered to our rooms, picked up nx morn and loaded on the shuttle. We were appreciative for their free service to the ship. Again, sorry for your disappointment. :(

Second time we stayed there there was glass on the floor, it was very wet, used condoms under the bed and we were pretty upset.
Now that is inexcusable and disgusting!

I am getting a bit leary of Radissons in general. The one at the port was fine....seemed clean enough, but not really "resort" quality in furnishings or decor....but a large room, close to the ship, and convenient. I *would* have stayed there again, but now???????

Stayed at another Radisson this summer.....boy web sites can make things look a lot better than they really are. The place was a dump. Filthy, AC that didn't work(IN NM!) run down and worn out. Radisson has a deal going with VISA to buy 1 night, get 1 night free. We could have used it at a Radisson Resort in AZ and saved a lot of money.....but we booked a different hotel and paid for 2 nights. I'm afraid the chain isn't as nice as I thought it was.

Oh yea...they forgot my points too. I called about 6 months later and they awarded them then. I thought it was fluke, but maybe it is another thing they aren't so good at....like housekeeping, perhaps!!

A poster to this thread mentioned that Avis is no longer at the Radisson.....I had not heard that before. When did it move its location?

Anyone have any other info? If Avis did in fact move from the Radisson location it would make a huge difference to us where we stayed next time.

From what I have been reading, it seems the Avis move takes effect Aug. 1st, I was just on the Avis website, and they still have their address listed at the Radisson, I guess that will change soon???

I've been hearing a lot of negative comments about the Radisson near Port Canaveral (even before I read these posts) & we're glad we've booked the Hampton Inn @ Cocoa Beach the night before our cruise in Feb. I've heard only positive things about the Hampton Inn @ CB & was wondering if anyone has stayed there recently & how it was. Thanks Cathie

We stayed at the Raddison at Phoenix Airport in April and found it also very disappointing. We stayed there only 1 night since it was close to the airport and we were arriving late. We waited 30 minutes while the front desk clerk answered the phone calls before she gave us a room --we were exhausted it was 11:30 PM Phoenix time but 1:30 AM (our time-fr MD). We couldn't believe it!
Then the room was shabby - even the toilet seat was worn out!
We complained when we got home and were told we would get a call within 48 hrs; the call never came (we called Corporate). Then when I called back they said they discounted 1/2 price for the room as a concession on my credit card , I believe.
You are right Raddisons are getting spotty.
As I mentioned before, I believe that this a beautiful hotel with a beautiful pool; they just do not keep it up; have limited staff. If it was managed the way it should be, they could charge much more since it is the nicest hotel to the port.

Cathie - when you booked the Hampton did you discuss with them the shuttle situation? When I called there last month the guy told me they had a shuttle to the terminal but it was $3.00 per person and it picked up at noon. Is this the way it is handled or was that guy talking nonsense?

Trishy - bad knee, stuck in a dirty room - I would be upset too. Good Luck with the knee problem - been there (except I wasn't on vacation in a not so nice room). Sorry you had a bad experience there.

We'll be there in September using 6 rooms - hopefully we won't have any problems. When we stayed in February we were in the first building to the left past the pool - while it wasn't up to the standards of our DVC accommadations, it was fine.

oh, no Avis is moving from the Radisson! That is the main reason I booked it. We're flying in on Friday and getting an Avis car from MCO and then going to MNSSHP. We are then driving to the Radisson to sleep and then head to port. We were going to get Avis again after cruising since we are staying until Tuesday. This was all going to so convenient for us since we are bringing our 11 month old with us.

Does anyone have any suggestions for us with this schedule? I thought I was done researching hotels.......

BTW Dave - your website is great. That's where I found out most of my info on the Radisson and Avis. Also on Target since we're planning on going there to buy diapers before the cruise.

Last October we stayed at the Radisson. The best thing about it was the shuttle ride to the Wonder. The room was not what I hoped for at all. I think I sneezed the whole night. There had to have been mold in the carpet. We paid 50.00 for the night so sometime ya get what ya pay for!

As I mentioned in my last post; sometimes it is good and sometimes it is not so good; depends on when you hit it ; our last stay in Sept was fine; no complaints at all. We will try it again August 29th and hope for the best. In some ways it is superb--location and pool are great; I think it is very pretty too; and price is great.
I forgot to mention I think the food is better at the small restaurant in the strip shopping center next door (going towards the ship). Also the greek resturant next to the mini golf is not so bad either. Thei Radison hamburgers etc are okay, but I would not eat breakfast or dinner there again. Lunches have always been fine.
Those who are going soon may have a good experience there; we have had more good experiences than bad, but the bad were pretty bad.
Good luck to those going there and look forward to meeting anyone else staying there the night of the 29th.
Anyone know the exact location of the Avis re-location let us know.
I realize it will be 1 1/2 miles away; I am surprised the Raddison did not try to keep them there!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We stayed at the Radisson one night last August before our cruise on the Magic. There was mold on the ceilings and walls in our room. Otherwise, the room was okay. I didn't notice until we'd settled in. We thought about asking for a different room but decided it would be too much hassle and the room was right near our friends. Luckily, we also only paid $59. I'm not sure what we'll do next time.

According to Shirley, in another thread, the new location will be on the 6600 block of A1A. I'm not sure whether they're on the east or west side of the street, so my updated map is only approximate in that regard, but you can find out approximately where the new location is on my newly updated Space Coast map.

I just read this on another thread, here is the new Avis location:

I got a postcard saying effective August 1, 2003 they were moving to 6650 N Atlantic Ave Cape Canaveral, Fl 32920

We had the two king bed suite in February. I waited by the car while DH and DD brought up the luggage. When they came back down they said "did you see the room?" I thought "OH NO!!"

Let me tell you, it was great. The bathroom was immaculate. Not a waterspot or hair was to be found. The kitchenette was just as clean.

DD has terrible allergies and she never so much as sniffled.

We spent a very pleasant evening there. The best part was opening the curtains the next morning and seeing the Wonder.

Sorry you had a bad time, but I couldn't have asked for a nicer room.

Hello everybody,
This is Shirley and when I read this thread I decided to go as high up the ladder as possible to find out what was going on - in fact when the operator asked me as to where she could transfere me to - my remark was to who ever is the highest on the manager or owner's on the rung of the ladder - I was transfered to a Mr. Joe Panackia and I express my concern over what I had read on this post - I found Mr. Panackia not only to be very concern, but very sincere in his conversation with me - I have never met him tho I do plan to do so since he sounded not only very straightforward but very honest and very forthright in his answers - he forward to letter to me that he has written to each of you and I am posting it here for all of those with concerns and his interest in you and your families.
The letter starts:

Hello,
This is Joe Panackia General Manager of the Radisson Resport at the Port. I really do appreciate it when our customers tell us when we fall short of their expectations of our service. I wish that every guest experience could be perfect but sometimes that just isn't the case - i certainly do apologize to those folks who wrote on the message boards - i do believe that we have a great hotel here and that overwhemlmingly our guests have a great time here and a great start (or end) to their cruise experience and in the case that it is not - then hopefully they will give us the chance to fix it and make it right for them. I take to heart the comments on the cleanliness issures mentioned in the board messages and, am, taking steps to correct this immediately!! I DO UNDERSTAND the power of these boards. There is no question that we have fallen short of our guest standards and most importantly to our standards! so quite frankly - i know talk is talk - THE REAL PROOF IS IN PERFORMANCE.
We have ordered new carpet for ALL OF THE ROOMS. We have expedited the order and it will be in 3 weeks and will begin installation immediately, although in the meantimewe had all the carpets cleaned professionally - yes we might have carpet that is ready to be replaced but it doesn't have to be dirty!! Additionally because of the demand here - we have purchased (7/09/03 2 brand new shuttle vans - one is a 26 seater and the other is a 15 seater in order to move people more comfortably and quickly to the port even though the trip is only about 5 minutes - i really hadn't heard to much about the "egg station" at breakfast - effective immediately we are adding either an additionals edd station or more cooks to do the eggs to order. there was posting about the pool being closed - unfortunately a child had an accident in the pool and we do follow to the letter the health department regulations when it come to things such as this.

I do believe in this hotel and our number one job is to take care of our guest. We are a locally owned hotel, we live and work here and take great pride in our hotel and want to continue to offer a quality experience. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to communicate with me directly and pass on their comments. I can be reached by any method listed below additionally my cell phone number 321-258-7568. again thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
joe Panackia
