Why Not Give DCA A Chance

We will be visiting DL and DCA next month. We are die hard DVC , WDW junkies. I have read these boards, laughing place, mouse planet etc. and if DIS had as many negative posters as the others, I would of left a long time ago.
I can recall the first few times I visited epcot that I felt cheated, now it is my favorite park after MK. I learned to look and enjoy all the tremendous attractions, the art, the entertainment, the foods, the world as a whole offerings and enjoy them for what they are. I have a week to enjoy DL and DCA, I hope to find the hidden pixie dust there too. I love MK for all the reasons that all the DL fans love their home. I am sure that DCA has so much to offer. I just hope that all the negative posts are just from people who haven't taken the time to really look and enjoy DCA and it's theme. As a WDW world experienced groupie, I take each park for what it is and don't campare but enjoy and explore to it's fullness. I can hardly wait to explore and be part of all the different Disney Magical experiences.

I have given it several chances and my opinion stays the same. I don't want to pay 43.00 to see how tortillas are made. Now with Mulholland Madness gone indefinitely and California Screaming which valleys every other day DCA is reduced to a bunch of shows and restaurants the exception of course is GRR and California Soarin. Two E-ticket rides can not support a entire theme park.

I happen to really like DCA!!!! I love the atmoshpere & the restaurants. Let's not forget, Soarin' & Sreamin' :D It is a little light on attractions for the youngsters. I don't have kids, but I hope they'll address that issue soon. My only other "complaint" is that most of the queue areas are not covered, which will be a problem in the summer. But, for now, we are loving it! It is a very relaxing place. It seems to me that there is just enough to do in a day, for adults to get their $$$ worth. Have a great time!

DCA is a very beautiful park. I enjoy spending time there. I particularly like th Eureka Parade.
It could use a couple of more E ticket attractions, but there is enought to see for 3/4 of a day. Possibly longer if there are crowds.

The lighting of the park at night is particularly beautiful. Just go on a full stomach because food can be expensive.

Gosh, Screamin' had valleyed the day we were there, Mulholland Madness was closed, many shops were closed, it was pouring rain, and we had a WONDERFUL time! My children had a great time. I am very much looking forward to going back. It is more like MGM or Epcot, it really isn't about the rides. I can see how it does not appeal to people who want multiple thrill rides, but then MGM doesn't have that many, and Epcot has none... that is the comparison that I make. It isn't 6 Flags or Great America, Disneyland is right next door, Knotts is just a few miles away.. if you want more rides, just move over. DCA is a different kind of park, and eventually people will recognize its value. I loved it. Especially the nice restaurants. :

I wouldn't be complaining if the price wasn't so high. DCA is good but not 43 dollars worth...30 bucks would be a fair price IMHO

Having just come back from DCA I would say I would not pay $43.00 for that park again. Spending the whole day at that park was hard. We were really wishing we could go to DL. We even went out of the park twice. Once to eat and again to see a movie....still the day dragged on. We went on California Screamin' 13 times twice in row 8 and went on the Maliboomer 8+ times. We really liked the Redwood Challenge Trail because it wasn't just for kids. We didn't go on the rapids ride because it was cold and we didn't like Soaring over Cali because peoples feet were in our way. It would have been better in the front row. Tough to be a Bug is great ( we went twice) but Muppets 3D wasn't what I thought it would be. The Art of ANimation was too crowded to enjoy. The parade was really cool. I did think the the whole park needs more rides. Paradise Pier was where we spent most of our time. SOrt of a mixed review. The only way I would go back is if I had Park hoppers and could enjoy both parks at once :)

I don't think it would be as bad if they sold hopper passes to people not staying at the resorts.

I know there are some poeple that get to Disney parks often that go with the purpose of relaxing, slowing down, taking it all it, or things like that. Others only get to the Disney parks a couple times a decade. For those people, Disney isn't about taking it all in. It is about doing all the attractions.

MGM and DAK were half parks when they opened. BUT, they sold Hoppers. If this was your once every half decade trip to Disney, you could do the big things at these parks, then step over to one of the other parks to fit in as much as possible.

DCA doesn't give that option. If you want to do Screamin' and Soarin' you have to pay a VERY high price for a hotel room, pay for two parks on the same day, or devote a whole day to seeing a half day park.

Finally, I think the biggest problem people have is the theme. To stick half the park's attractions, into an area that is themed as an amusement park..... not great imagination there.

It seems to me that the theme was chosen, not because it was good, but because it allowed them to put a bunch of cheap attractions into a small area. Just the thing you need when you are trying to build a park on a shoe string budget in a parking lot.

And it seems to have gotten worse since it opened. Mulhuland Madness is closed until they can tame it down. The bee bodies are gone from orange stinger. Zephyr only runs if there is NO breeze. Screamin' gets stuck a lot. Soarin' has had dust problems.

I'm not sure who Disney's target market is for this park, but it clrealy isn't me. I'll go once just because I wan't to check out GRR, Screamin' and Soarin'. I highly doubt I'll leave feeling like I had a Disney experience, and I doubt it even more I'll go back anytime soon.

We had a good time during the preview days, but that said I doubt I would be willing to pay $43/person for the park. Add a few more rides and then it will be worth it. Paying $20/day for the preview seemed like a good value. After our trip my wife and I figured we could do a disneyland trip, stay on site, go between DL/DCA, and save the airflight costs over going to WDW. But once they cancelled the ability for AP holders to upgrade or even add our now 3 year old son they lost my respect and $$$.
