Why No WALL-E At The Parks?

Wall-E is a favorite in our house!

I don't think a M&G would work, but an updated Living with Land film or replace Captain EO would be great!

I'm guessing it's because Wall-E was all about anti consumerism, anti waste, and anti overindulgence... opposite of what WDW is all about! (we still love WDW, mind you :) )

I love Wall-E. Such a wonderful story and message. It's a shame the movie isn't represented. IMO it's a hundred times better than that Frozen which I felt was a weak attempt compared to other princess movies.

Wall-E would make a good ride or show for sure. He could easily work in living with the land or even update the video in the Land pavilion from Lion King to Wall-E.

You catch glimpses of him around the park but not often.

Or lived in a more frozen climate.

Outer space is pretty frozen! :rotfl2:

Seriously though, I agree with another poster's sentiment. Wall-E was very anti-consumerist, anti-crowd following, and anti-eating of junk of food. It is sort of the antithesis of disney. And I love Wall-E and love WDW.

I think it's a misconception that gluttony was a message of the movie. It's stated in the movie that "microgravity effects" would lead to weight gain on the Axiom, and the effect became prominent when they ended up in space for centuries.

The other social issues touched on by the movie were pretty common in other Disney movies (as well as those of just about any other movie studio).

Wall-E is one of my favorite movies ever, Disney or otherwise. I have bemoaned him not having a presence at the parks for a long time. While I get a M&G would be technically difficult, including him in either Tomorrowland or Epcot just feels like a natural fit. I've had in my head an Wall-E and Eve's space flight ride for a while. Done right it could be amazing. Alas, on my recent trip I had to settle for the one Wall-E Christmas Ornament I found in DTD.

:offtopic: Pardon me for the tangent...

You know, it's funny. Prior to the release of Wall-E, I used to think it would be cool if Disney World had a "super" version of the People Mover. You'd get in your car when you arrive at the park, and it transports you to the rides, becomes your ride vehicle on the ride, your table at restaurants, your seat for the parades and fireworks, etc. It would be covered and air conditioned, so you'd never have to worry about rain, heat, or sunburns. Think of all the walking and standing in lines it would save you, I used to think. It would be the perfect way to visit Disney World.

Sitting in the theater watching Wall-E when it came out, my mind went immediately to this concept of the "Super People Mover" I'd been hoping for as soon as we saw the Axiom. Yep, it was pretty much what I'd envisioned. The message in the movie was a good ol' slap in the face that made me feel guilty enough that I stopped wishing for my "Super People Mover." :rotfl2:

Back on topic...

I think the reason Wall-E hasn't been inserted into Future World is because it doesn't exactly match the theme. Future World's theme is a querky 1950's vision of the future. Wall-E is more of a modern day vision of a future. (Of course, Stitch, Monsters Inc., and Buzz Lightyear really don't fit the 1950's vision, either. So there goes that theory.) Hmmmm... perhaps it's the vision of a future in which mankind has literally destroyed the Earth that gives them pause?

I was going to say it was the bean counters, but Wall-E actually grossed more than some of these other movies that have attractions in Future World.

I thought it was very misunderstood too. It wasn't supposed to be a "shame on you lazy humans" type message. Sure there was a bit of anti-consummerism in it, but in a kind of a lightly-poking-fun-at-ourselves way. I thought the real message was about believing in ourselves, and taking control of our future, even when it was the harder route. And they succeeded :)

Anway, Wall-E is still DD(11)'s favorite Disney movie, and I really wish they could find a way to integrate it somewhere. Even if it was just a movie like they have with Circle of Life in Epcot.
