Why do the English wear hats on their foreheads?

One thought....I think Beatrice had a coat on, and it wasn't her dress. If you look at pics, there was a skirt underneath of a completely lighter fabric. Since it was chilly, commentators kept mentioning how some were covered up.

Another thought...she and her sister lack carriage. They seem to carry themselves much like Fergie. One would think as Princesses, they would have had some help with that, but it is almost as if they did not. I have had no etiquette training and mild scoliosis and I do not slouch that poorly in a formal setting.

You don't see Zara carrying herself that way. I'm going to have to blame Fergie. There just isn't any other explanation.

1 thing can help them where Royal training has failed. A private pilates instructor and get on some Pilates Equipment. By Zara's wedding, they will be walking upright!

Well, I clump and gallumph and my mother tried for years and years to teach me to walk softly. I tried, honestly, I did. But I recently found out I probably have a genetic deformity in my hips. It's benign, but something went off in my head and I asked birth female relations, who agreed that they galumph as well.

Maybe they're distant relations of mine!:rotfl:

(Of course, I have decent carriage. I don't slump!)

I actually liked some of the hats. :duck: I don't know if it has been mentioned, but how are those hats attached? :confused3 Pins, velcro, what?

Fascinators are usually on some sort of a headband that is designed to blend into the hair. You can kind of see the headband on a couple of Eugenia's hats.

I'm not entirely sure how the one Eugenia wore at the wedding is attached tho'. Probably by the same method, but I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't 2 headbands and a even some swimsuit glue involved.

Now Beatrice and Eugenie both looked a lot nicer in the dresses there! I loved the black on Eugenie! And, even the Queen had a very elegant dress on for someone her age. Too back Camilla can't take a tip or two from her. lol There were some nice dresses there.

Everyone looked much better there. Princess Mathilde looked beautiful, as did the Princess (I guess, she was with the Prince) of Sweden. Loved the Queen's dress.

I thought Camilla could have done much better, but she looks like she has a bit of a hard figure to dress.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie looked so, so much better. I wonder why everyone's fashion sense flew out the window for the actual wedding?!

:thumbsup2

I disagree with this. I think hose at a formal event is a must. I just think formal fancy dresses and a very protocol laced event calls for not having bare legs.

I agree - bare legs isn't quite the done thing at a very formal wedding. Plus over here there are only about 4 months of the year when it is warm enough to go bare legged!

The fascinatiors aren't really hats. They can be decorated headbands - you wear it as a headband and the 'hat' bit is attached to it. Or the smaller ones are simply attached to a clip.

I have had some slouching issues---pilates helped to maximize what posture I was capable of holding. So I was somewhat serious---

I'm working on strength training right now and rows and the pull down were the 2 that were highly suggested to fix the "uncontrollable" rolled forward appearance as both B and E demonstrated yesterday. This is what I am trying to fix on me as it is affecting my back somewhat. (Since I get all my muscles confused, I really cannot explain the mechanics by that.)

So while my post came across as a bit funny--in 2 months, we would see a bit of a difference. And when ladies are ummm...blessed with ladies....a strong upper back is very important.

I don't know what can help the walk...but I was mainly referring to how they held their upper body.

Joan now said that our Blue Super Hero is wearing a certain female anatomy on her head. :scared1: ---< kinda looks like her, don't it? ;)

Hey, I said it first! Joan, are you reading this thread? Stop in and say hi! :goodvibes

Wow, Chelsea looked horrible! :scared1:

looks like she started the party a few days before everyone else.

Chelsy is starting to look like Lindsay Lohan - partying ages you! Also, the outfit confused me because it didn't match.

Beatrice and Eugenie looked so much better there. They're really cute girls. Also, didn't the Spanish royal family look wonderful?

If everyone went to the ceremony and then to the palace, where did everyone change? Do you think they all stay at the palace?

They did not change for the Queen's reception.

I do know that Pippa changed at her hotel as she was photographed departing for the evening reception from their.

William and Catherine were at Clarence house and were photographed preparing for departure along with Prince Charles and Camilla.

I would like to know the history too! This is the hat that caught my eye this morning - I actually hit re-wind when she came into view.

while I mean this in the kindest way...and I know I will get flamed,, the absolute FIRST thing that popped into my head was Druzilla and Anastasia Tre'Maine from Cinderella. Basing it totally on their attire. I didn't read all the pages of responses, so I am hoping someone else thought the same. Note: I am HUGE stepsisters fan, just never thought I'd see them at a castle other than Cindy's!

Joan Rivers made a funny comment about the princess in the blue dress (one of Sarah Ferguson's daughters) She said she wasn't going to the wedding but then the mice in the palace worked so hard on that dress, she had to go. That was her Cinderella association. :rotfl2:

why does Posh always have to look soooooo miserable?....I watched it live on TV and she looked far haughtier than all the Royals!;)

she was standing in line to get into the Abbey..pouting waway with her nose stuck in the air like there was no tomorrow..:rotfl:

And YES...THOSE SHOES!!!:scared1:

I saw the clip from Kathy Lee and Hoda re: the royal snub, and Kathy Lee made the comment about Victoria Beckham looking like she had gas....:lmao:

Pippa was sitting up straight in the carriage, on the way to Buckingham Palace, did you see Beatrice and Eugenie riding with their dad in their van? the were slouched and gawking out the windows like they were searching for people they knew. Maybe their mom refused to let them have etiquette classes or something. I heard an announcer this morning say, that these two are very fashionable and like to push fashion forward.

They were slouched because they could not sit straight up with their hats on. :lmao:

I have a website in the UK selling fascinators amongst other things. Our visitors over the last 24 hours have increased greatly, everyone looking at fascinators including many from the US. In the UK the fascinator has been steadily increasing especially in the last 2 years. The Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) loves to wear these and looks amazing in them. A great reason to wear these is if you are going to a full day wedding, mostly with fascinators a clip in the hair can easily be removed and your hair hasn't been flattened all day. Some people just don't want the full hat look and with a fascinator, some which have the pill box hat with feathers etc you get a great look, very often a great price and its easily removed or replaced for another one for an evening occasion. Many of our fascinators are on a hairband and sit to one side of the hair and slightly forward but there are so many to choose from. I must admit I haven't seen anyone wearing them in the centre of the forehead before, I still think they looked great but a more flattering way to wear these is defintely to one side. The design for Victoria Beckhams was amazing, well done Phillip Tracey, why try to look like everyone else.

We have sent many fascinators out to the US so you are obviously getting the bug, either that or there are a lot of ex pats in the US.

I heard on the news this morning, the party is over, William goes back to the military on Monday

William is off for two weeks on honeymoon but he hadn't decide where they were going, Catherine doesn't even know yet.

Here is Eugenie at the pre-wedding dinner. She is a really pretty girl. He choice for the wedding just did nothing to flatter her.

Thanks for explaining that. Victoria Beckam's got me wondering how it was attached.
