Pippa was sitting up straight in the carriage, on the way to Buckingham Palace, did you see Beatrice and Eugenie riding with their dad in their van? the were slouched and gawking out the windows like they were searching for people they knew. Maybe their mom refused to let them have etiquette classes or something. I heard an announcer this morning say, that these two are very fashionable and like to push fashion forward.

They were slouched because their hats wouldnt fit if they sat straight up right!

I'm dying laughing watching the Joan Rivers special. Said Beatrice is wearing an IUD on her head and Eugenie almost didn't go to the wedding -- until all the palace mice and birds got together to make her dress.

I am so sorry I missed that! Will have to look for the replays. Havent stopped laughing that our super hero has a name now!

I would like to know the history too! This is the hat that caught my eye this morning - I actually hit re-wind when she came into view.

But my first thought was "Look! It's Anastasia & Druzella!" that was

When I saw those two girls especially, but also the hats generally, the first thing that popped into my mind was terry gilliams movie brazil. It's streamable on netflix. See if you dont think they look the same.

Crazy hats seem to be Beatrice's "thing" as evidenced here at Peter Phillips wedding (her cousin.)

My mom was a big hat person.. Nothing made her happier than buying a new hat, so of course I took special notice of all the hats today..

Some of them - either with very long pointy feathers - or what appeared to be spikes of colored wires sticking out from them every which way - could seriously poke someones eye out if the woman wearing such a hat turned her head too quickly..

Beatrice's hat took the prize though.. That one was....ummmm..."interesting" - to say the least..

I have been all over the net trying to find a good pic of B & E that is comparible to Anastasia & Drizella. It was my first thought as well! And I can't get the image out of my head. Particularly with the the blue velvet Bows on Eugenie's jacket.

Wonder if they are running odds on if he will have a fascinator on by breakfast.

said she has the worst nose job ( it was crooked) and that the canoe hat point right at it....

Exactly. It's always seemed to me to be a bit of sport for these big occasions for the women to find the most outrageous hats as possible. I think it's all meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. It's obviously not something they wear during their daily lives, but part of the tradition of these kinds of events. The hats are always my favorite part of lavish English events. The crazier the better I say!

On most big occasions I'd agree, but it seems like they are trying to upstage each other, at best (the Bride, at worst). It seems like a wedding would be a time for - a neutral hat? Is there such thing? Maybe the word I'm looking for is subdued.

I think you can be fashion forward without being over the top.

And as for the pp who said Beckham was said to be wearing his medal on the wrong side, a patient told us that this was because those serving in the military wore their medals on the other side. Apparently Beckham was correct, as he was a civilian honored with the medal? But then again, this patient is from Ireland, and sometimes I think he's pulling our leg.

I would love to wear hats, but my big head prevents it. I mean physically, not psychologically.

This dress was actually from the pre-wedding dinner..not the reception, but she looks better here, although I am not crazy about all the tin foil looking stuff on it.

Now Beatrice and Eugenie both looked a lot nicer in the dresses there! I loved the black on Eugenie! And, even the Queen had a very elegant dress on for someone her age. Too back Camilla can't take a tip or two from her. lol There were some nice dresses there.
