Snitches get stitches
Snitch.
Snitches get stitches
I'll worry about it when people learn what the word bullying means. And since this thread is about behavior on a message board, I'd say never. Don't like what some one says? Get off the computer, no one has to be here.

I report all the time, it's the ex-Moderator in me.![]()

I'm pretty proud.Lmao I bet it was marvelous!

For the most part, moderators try to not hand out points. We get lots of posts reported to us...it's amazing what people will report. I've had people tell me to get rid of a thread because posters were mean and not helpful. But in reality? The OP just didn't care for the responses they got! No one was mean. On the other hand, some posters just can't play nicely, within board guidelines. They go off on a tangent about a particular poster. So sure, they tend to get reported. And if they have violated those guidelines, get awarded points.
Most mods try not to be heavy handed. But we want posters to feel comfortable posting on the DIS. They shouldn't have to worry about getting harassed or insulted. Most posters that get infraction points know they were threading on thin ice...so don't have a huge issue. We just want things to be civil. You don't have to agree with everyone but you do have to be civil

I agree with you. MOST moderators, like yourself, are fair and are just doing their job. There is one, unfortunately, that has extreme biases and stalking tendencies.
I could hazard a guess.....
And one could respond to this just as easily with a Can't follow the rules and don't like getting points? Get off the computer. No one has to be here.Don't like what some one says? Get off the computer, no one has to be here.
Perhaps some people get points that they didn't quite deserve. But let us not pretend that they're getting points out of the blue for sunshine, lollypops and rainbows either. When someone walks right up to the line and waives their foot over it without stepping down, some mods are going to interpret that as crossing the line. Some aren't.BTW, anyone who thinks everyone who gets points deserves them needs to remember that mods are humans and have their own personal opinions.
Where does verbal bullying fall into the above equation?
When I say something you don't like to hear, in a forum and you tell me to stop or you'll report me for 'verbal bullying'. If someone starts a thread about "name a weird food you have eaten", I'm allowed to talk about the dog-meat restaurants in China and Korea I actually took a liking to. If you tell me you don't want to hear that I preferred braised pug over the more affordable St. Bernard stew, that doesn't mean I'm bullying you if I continue with the cuisine conversation. And yet, that's just what I come to expect anymore.
