why are they making mk emh earlier from 7-8am rather than 8-9am?

We just did a 7am EMH on 3/19 and while it was very hard to get up, it was soooooo worth it and I loved it. The park was almost empty and seeing the sunrise over MK can't be beat. Of course, staying at BLT made it so much easier to deal with, as we were able to walk out after 6:30 and be there in plenty of time for the welcome show.

I agree that 7 am EMH is rough, but SO worth it. We rode 7D a few times and Peter Pan was walk on. I'd much rather start early than stay late. Even at midnight Fantasyland is still busy!

The fact that a lot of people are simply not willing to get up and out while it's still dark is precisely what makes it so great for those who do it.

THIS! We did 7 a.m. early entry at Universal over Thanksgiving. Yes, it's early, but it has its benefits!

After waiting for the bus in the dark with other grumpy families, we still managed to get into the park by 7:30am. Not too bad. The park was not very busy until 10am or a little later. Next time, I am setting the alarm.

Yes, this was our 2nd to last day at the parks. We had started out at Uni on Saturday, 3/14, and this happened on Thurs 3/19. It worked out in the end though, because we were staying for the Wishes Dessert Party at 10pm. This trip was not a good example of relaxing. I will definitely do it differently next time.

While my husband is a bit iffy on the 7 am EMH, once we get there he loves being able to get tons of stuff done those first two - three hours. Not only do some folks not opt to go that early but some of the guests who would normally get there at opeining at 9 am dont come to the 8am open. Meaning 7 am EMH die hards get even more done!

I say this everytime this subject comes up but my husband rolls his eyes and says I only get up before 6 am for Disney!

Oh my goodness, yes. We just did 5 days in a row of rope drops and, while we made it for every one, the first couple of days we were in line at the turnstiles 45 minutes before park open and by the 5th day we were sauntering up just in time to catch the welcome show from the back of the crowd.

I dont see how this takes away from the resort benefit. You are still provided an additional hour or two. If you are not early birds, you can goto the evening EMH which would be open until 3am. Did that a few times MK was empty after midnight.

We did 7am emh in dec . It was rough getting up but ive never seen so few people at rd. We did everthing we wanted multiple times

I would have been right there with ya! Love taking advantage of morning EMH. The earlier, the better!

One thing I've never been able to get used to at WDW are the shorter theme park hours, compared to Disneyland. Both DLR parks open at 8am daily during all holiday periods, and all summer long. Disneyland stays open until 11pm or midnight every Friday through Sunday throughout the year, and also during all peak periods. EMH/MM at DLR is 7am during every day that the parks open at 8am to the general public. I'm an AP holder, so I no longer take advantage of MM, but it's a great perk to have out here.

At WDW, I tend to be more of an evening EMH person. I'll do mornings at DAK and MK. I used to love the 3-hour evening EMH at MK and Epcot. Especially when that meant being at MK until 3am.

Depends on how far from a border of a time zone you are. For instance i live in the west side of central time, it gets dark much later here than on the east side, also gets light later. You may be farther east in the zone vs orlando.

Yes it does! Also that is one of the weeks where it initially shows at 9 am opening and they switches closer to Thanksgiving and the whole week changes to 8am start.

It was week before last. That was partially due to the DST time change just occurring. I think it was dark until after 7am. It was definitely pitch black as the POR bus stop when we got to MK at 7:30am.

It's been dark here in Austin up until as late as 8am with the time shift. I would like to know what idiot thought moving it up was a good idea. It's not like Texas is London or Seattle. We get a lot if daylight. If it's not light here at that time, then where is it light?

Today the sun was rising at exactly 8 am as my daughter was riding Everest. AK opened before 8 ( even if the stated opening was 8)
So yes it was very dark when we were headed over yesterday for EMH at MK at 6:15

6am is still dark. I live within 15 minutes of the beach on the east coast. Sun is breaking the horizon just after 7am.

Sunrise this morning (pretty sure defined as when the sun breaks the horizon) was 7:15am this morning in Lake Buena Vista.

So between 6am and 7:15, it will take on that dawn effect where the dark gives way to light until it is daylight.
