Well, I was going to post a picture of DD's costume, but I don't have a clue how to do it.

I should know later today whether or not my DH will be going to Mississippi to help out with the relief efforts following Katrina. He has said that his Mom, our daughter and I should plan to go ahead with the vacation from 10/1 - 10/9 without him but I just can't see how I would enjoy it without him along. Disney did say they wouldn't not charge a penalty if we do have to chg / cancel but I've been so looking forward to going and put a LOT of work into making our ADR. There is always the chance they won't need him for the 30 days as planned but of course we won't know that until the last minute ... please send pixie dust my way that whatever happens is what needs to happen.

eeyore45 - Awww. My dd8 (going into 3rd too!) went through that the last two years. Finally, this year, she has two of her friends in her class. Here's some Pixie Dust and hoping she has a great year!

3Aumillers - I hope that you get to all go on your trip. Maybe they won't need him for the whole time. I know I couldn't go to DW for a week without my dh. Don't cancel if he can't make it, just postpone it. Good luck.

from what I understand the picture is fine in a post, but then it would be too big for a signature picture...

3Aumillers - I hope for a compromise for you and your dh!! I know last year when we were heading out, dh's company was going to hold him back (I waited to purchase his airline ticket) and I did make plans for just DD and I to go... I just kept saying, I cant imagine going without you... he was able to go!!

Thanks MommyBoo - we went to the 1 hour come fill your desk with supplies and see the school on Friday... she's been sleeping thru the night since... its different, but I think enough of us teachers were supportive, she does have the "better" teacher for HER learning style!! (she can be very stupporn.. dont know where she gets that!! (can you imagine a first grader crossing her arms, rolling her eyes AND turning her back on the teacher???!! That's my dd, she will get in power struggles to prove her point... so we avoid them... and we have to be very consistent!!) Luckily she has lots of other wonderful qualities!!

The good and the bad...

The bad is that you will need to take us off of the October list. I will call tomorrow to cancel POR and try to get rid of our tix to MNSSHP on the 6th (and cancel ressies @LTT @6:40).

The good is that we bought a house. Our closing is scheduled what was supposed to be the last day of our trip. It will be so great that DH, kitty and I will no longer be in apartment living.

Someone have a mickey ice cream bar for me !

DH's employer put a hold on all requests for leave to help out with the hurricane ravaged areas until we could determine the influx of evacuees to our area so the Disney trip is a go ... DH is very disappointed that he couldn't go but at least he has a vacation to look forward to in the very near future.

We'll be there Halloween night!! We're getting married at WDW on November 6 and were planning to arrive 11/2. However, my fiance wanted to arrive a day earlier... and if we were going to do that, I wanted to arrive *two* days earlier so we could do MNSSHP, one of the few major WDW events I've never seen!

I'm so excited!

And now that we've extended our trip two days earlier, that means we leave for our WEDDING TRIP NEXT MONTH!

Congrats on the house. Sorry that the closing couldn't be rescheduled as to not interfere with your vacation but I'm sure you will be planning another trip as soon as you can.

we could reschedule the closing for a later date, but it works well with the end of our lease.

we are already talking about what to do with our airline credits, but we will wait until we are in the house to book. we really cant complain too much as we will be on a disney cruise in february. and i think i read somewhere that they do have mickey icecream bars on board.

I'm hoping that the New Orleans airport can start running commercial flights before we are scheduled to leave. We got a great DING rate before Katrina reared her ugly head, and I'm just hoping we can still fly out. We are scheduled to leave on October 6th at 6ish a.m.

The family and friends that I have that live there have all gotten out of the city to safety. Not many know the status of their homes. They are glad to be safe and out of harm's way. It's going to be a long time before things return to "normal" but the sooner things begin moving the better it will be.
