Whoo Hoo and Boo Hoo! Our Magic'al Trip Report for Oct 8-15th!

I will say, I've never seen so many people sick on board. There were still people throwing up at the shows, in the bathrooms, and in the hallways, so I hated that for them.
Hopefully tomorrow the sun will shine!:)

When I got back to town, I heard one of our co-workers (whom I don't know) were on the trip and he and his daughter got sick in the hallway. :( Poor things.

Thanks! As of today, his fever is coming down (it's been elevated this whole time), they've moved him out of ICU, he's losing his double vision(yay!), they're still waiting on tests, and he'll have to have more surgeries. We're trusting and believing in great things for this young man...but can't imagine what he's going through! Thanks for praying!:thumbsup2

Prayer continue for your friends.

Loving your trip report!!!!!:love::love:

Thanks so much Linda!:thumbsup2 This is one of those times when "we're all in this together"...:rotfl2:(sorry, couldn't resist!)
And yep, glad my dh and yours connected at Budget!:rotfl2: I bet we called him about 10 times, and he didn't know anymore than the time before when I called..poor things! Our greatest 'strain' with all that? His parents were SO worried we were gonna go through those EARS without him! They kept going over to the escalator looking for him and wanting me to call, and I finally said "He'll get here, when he gets here, it'll be fine".
And of course, we weren't gonna go through Mickey's Ears without him!:goodvibes:
Glad to have you reading, throw some of your pics, comments or your stories in here anytime!:)

Chiming in since I love your TR. LOL! I will definitely remember this cruise since we brought the worse weather ever with us the first couple days. I never got sick but DH was pretty unsteady. We had brought dramamine and motioneze which are drops you put behind your ear. We both used those Sat and Sun and we were fine. It was sure funny watching us walk though weaving from left to right like you were drunk.:rotfl2: EVERYONE we saw Sat night was doing that. Just like in Disney cartoons. I made the mistake of going up to Deck 10 since we had Palo ressie Sun morning and fell on my b--t. The wind was that bad then. Had to go back inside to use the stairs. It was great fun though the whole trip and can't wait to relive it with you.

Oh and we made the mistake of using Budget when we got back also. We got there at around 9:00am and I had made the ressie for 10:00am to allow us time in case the ship came in late or we got off late. Anyway they told us that they could not give us a vehicle until 10:00 since that is when we had booked it for?:scared1: The lot was FULL of cars no kidding. Finally after checking with them again at 9:40 after sitting outside in the hot sun because there were no available chairs inside, they finally said OK we have a car for you now. The car we got was of course one that was sitting outside the whole time we had been there along with a row of others that no one had come to get. I had even told DH that I bet we will get one of those little ones there. I will not be using them again either.

Glad to see you Laura!!! I won't EVER forget this cruise! The wet, swishing back and forth, feeling like we were in a drunken stupor and we hadn't had anything!:rotfl2: We laughed and laughed. And can't believe you fell! So glad you didn't do damage! Could've messed your whole cruise up! That's what I told dh about Sat and Sun..I was so worried one of his parents was going to fall, we kept a hand on them both! In fact, I think all the room hosts got so used to us using the corridors for traveling, they were smiling everytime they saw us sway back and forth! But we learned quickly for the inlaws, having a 2ft opening with rails on a side or two was better than walking out in the open space with nothing for them to 'grab' hold of!!! Great memories for sure!

I really didn't understand them (Budget) on the 15th!:confused3Customer service is a BIGGIE to us, and it seemed that day, that the main person in there was either REALLY having an off day, or just didn't know how to handle customers. Of course, it won't matter for the few of us who did have bad service, they are at a prime location, and will be used anyway. However, that being said, when I got my online survey to fill out, I did let them know what poor service and attitudes we received. So sad, and yes, we know things happen, but you can always be kind and keep the customer in mind. But here's hoping that maybe it was just one day in lieu of many! We'll probably use another service or try the Hiatt MCO or Disney property next go 'round (and hope that's sooner than later).

Thanks for joining in! I'd love to hear your stories too! One of the highlights of our trip, was running into new friends because of the boards! Great Fun and made it a little more familiar for these newbies! Have'nt had time to organize my thoughts about Tues, but I'll try to do that later on. So sad even finishing up my trip report..then I'll feel like it's REALLY over...
Hence the...

Boo Hooo :sad2:

:rotfl:

Whoo Hoo!:woohoo: This day was to be a first for many in my family. First time in the caribbean, first time off the ship, first time to see St Martin, first time for the Rhino Riders! We were pumped!

First off, heading to Diversions before 9 to meet our fellow riders. Met a few folks (maybe 20?) in all. Not a whole lot of us, but we took up 9 little boats plus the 2 guide boats.

Before we headed off, got to talking with a cm about Disboards. Let's just put it this way, some cm's have a terrible view of us, and it did set my morning off wrong. I found myself explaining the benefits of Disboards, WHY we are on Disboards, all that Disboards do and how for us, it's always been a plus. This cm's comments were not so welcoming about Dis'ers. Made me :sad2: that there are those that feel that way. And I did find this cm later on again to tell him "Look, in every aspect of life, you'll find good apples, and bad apples, please don't label all Dis'ers as that!" But you know:confused3, just sort of bothered me. And in the end? We wound up seeing this cm all week long, laughed, kidded, and really enjoyed our conversations together. Hopefully, this cm's view of us were changed and they realized that most of us are on here for helps, encouragement, and a BIG dose of Disney Knowledge!

So off we head. We went through the inner most part of St Martin, saw the downtown area where so many work, and went through harrowing streets where folks obviously cut in/out of traffic every second of the day.:scared1:Glad I wasn't in a rental car for this ride! Got there, heard the 'spill' on how to's, and loaded up. I will say for those of you considering renting these? Know that Disney doesn't tell you if you are an 'odd' number of people going, one of you will not get their own boat, you'll have to ride with the guide. And guess who the nominated 'guide' rider was?:rotfl: At first, I wasn't sure about Mark, my guide, but there are ropes to hold onto, and we were flying!:lovestruc Loved it! And I got the best birds-eye view of the inner islands, just because he'd tell me what stars lived where, about the french/dutch sides, and the history. Then we stopped to snorkel. Which for my family? By the time, I got MY snorkel on...he was calling everyone back as it was time to go! So funny!:rotfl2: I'll try to load up pics...just haven't figured out how to get them off my handycam yet. ....yes, another long story!:goodvibes

2nd part of the day? We got back, and realized there was a 'bounty' to behold!!! :yay:Tons of characters would be out for Pirate Night, so we better get dd dressed!
And next after dining, was the pirate party! :yay: We had a ball! DD and I got upfront (as she had learned her lesson at the Sail Away Party and couldn't see a thing). The family was scattered, but we had a blast with all the characters, laughing and singing and dancing!

Next Up? The Pirate Dessert Buffet!....NOT! Of all the times, ds and dd decided.."Mom, let's go to POTC in the Walt Disney Theater. AT 10:30pm (I think)...I was like.."Y'all are killing me!" But what's a mom to do? So off we go.
1:30 am. Can I sleep now?:rotfl2:

Great times, great family memories to last a lifetime! Lovin' every minute of it!:lovestruc

Without naming his name, I found myself explaining the benefits of Disboards, WHY we are on Disboards, all that Disboards do and how for us, it's always been a plus. And I did find him later on again to tell him "Look, in every aspect of life, you'll find good apples, and bad apples, please don't label all Dis'ers as that!" But you know:confused3, kind of unsettling to say the least.
But HE was NOT gonna ruin my excursion!

Why didn't he like DISers?:confused3 I've been on the boards the last few years and for the most part, people on these boards are super helpful, generous and nice. And honestly, it's the people on these boards that give me information that make me give more to the CMs on the cruises because of the insights shared. Strange.

It was so sad:sad2: Linda! I was sitting there, this cm mentioned something that made me think of some advice I'd been given on here. I said "Well, have you ever heard of Disboards?" "He said "Why? Are there any Disboarders here", and I said "Well, I've been on Disboards since 2003"...And oh my! Did I open a can of worms. This cm said some things that made me cringe as to his interpretation of Dis'ers, how his/her name had even been mentioned in a negative light, and I do hate that for the cm.. At that point, I said "There are always 3 sides to every story, and that everyone has a different point of view, and there are lots of Dis'ers NOT like that!." Hopefully? This cm was one that just happened to have one negative dealing, and by the end of the week? :confused3 Maybe we'd change their mind how they feel about us.:)

Really enjoying your TR. Just wanted to chime in that I think that CM is unusual and not representative of most...

At that point, I told him.."There are always 3 sides to every story, and that everyone has a different point of view, and to please NOT label us all in a negative light." Just made me sad that there are cm's that don't understand that Dis'ers LOVE Disney (for the most part) and we're not here to bash, conquer and destroy. Hopefully? He's just a rare cm that happened to have one negative dealing, and not all cm's (who know Dis'ers) feel that way.:confused3

Sullins...wondering if he was just mad he got "called out" and that his superiors are reading these boards too. If you really want to make him mad, start a thread on the general cruise forum and see how mad he would get...:lmao: JK. Makes me wonder how many CMs read the threads about people requesting certain servers. Very interesting. Great trip report!

I hope not!:confused3 The way I felt after speaking with him, I wished I hadn't told him I was a 'Dis'er'...and that's too sad! And I hated that his and others' outlook on Disboards was NOT in a positive light...Oh well, can't please everyone! Thanks for reading...loved our trip!!!

What's even more interesting? I didn't 'call' him out, was just a passing comment, and he took off on it. Though I found him to be a nice cm, we kept seeing him all week and made jokes, I did find it sad that his experiences with Dis'ers were so negative. Much like a 'mystery shopper' I noted alot on this cruise. And the reason I haven't posted on the main forum? He already said DCL is "notified when certain Dis'ers are sailing"...:scared1: I found that both disturbing and bothersome. I would hate to be 'labeled' every time I got on a cruiseship! Overall, we had a great cruise, hope to go again, and even hope to see this cm again, so this cm can see that there are alot of Dis'ers who are fun and kind!:goodvibes

Day 5 and St Thomas was gorgeous as we pulled into port..

IMG_1981.jpg

And here's the view as we dock, with the dock on the starbord side and a little walk to Havensight...

IMG_1986.jpg

And here's the crew's pool (we actually saw several cm's enjoying this at 3pm)..

IMG_1989.jpg

This day was a different day..(I guess that's the way we'd put it:rotfl2:). Being the organizer of this trip, this chik had told everyone.."Do what you want"..we couldn't really do excursions together due to the dynamics of our group (fil couldn't climb stairs, didn't like heights, etc), so dh and 12dd decide to head up to Paradise Point..

IMG_2043.jpg

This was the skyride up at the top of St Thomas. Alot was to be seen from 'way up there'...

IMG_2041.jpg

Big...BiGGer...BIGGEST? or Best...Good....Ok?...:rotfl: It was cool to see all 3 ships come into port..:cool2:

They enjoyed their skyride and then met us in town. By the way, just so all you AT&T people know, we CAN use our phones here! This was the first time on the trip we were able to 'phone home'. Loved it!

Next Up? The rest of us were wandering hopelessy lost (or bored) in town. Why? Well, we KNEW we weren't diamond shopping, we aren't a family that spends a lot on trendy souvenirs, and it was hot! And had we known for sure, we all would have had our phones so we would know how to meet up.
What we did find though was a TON of hagglers wanting to take us for tours, wanting to sell us things, and it seemed like everyone was waiting for us 'cruisers'. :goodvibes It was interesting, but wanted you to know what to expect when you hit downtown St Thomas.

We did enjoy this little 'surf' bar..food and service was good!

We had nachos, mini hamburgers and a club sandwich..YUM! It's right on the main street, so you can't miss it if you keep walking.:thumbsup2

And so far? This was just half the day! We started our 'trek' back to the ship at about 1:30. Just jumped on the next taxi that yelled out, you'll get that "Need a Taxi?" yell just about every minute!:)

Shopped in Havensight for a little while, and the parents and dh went on back to the ship. Loved getting back on board to see the sights...

IMG_2063.jpg
Saw this ship..

And then the view as we were getting ready to pull out..

IMG_2076.jpg

And then we head in, get changed for our dining tonight at Lumiere's...

Tonight, 12dd decided SHE wanted to try escargot..

IMG_2082.jpg

Um, Can I just say, "I can't stand it?" She takes one bite, makes a small grimace, and then says "Mom, your turn!" Now, if you know me, I don't do jelly filled donuts, gum with gooey stuff inside, anything that 'gushes' out from inside. Just me, I know I'm weird, but it's a consistency thing. But I'm thinking..if my 12dd can do it, I can do it..kind of looks like a mushroom right? "Oh MY WORD!!!" Can I just say it just about messed my whole meal up. NOT for this disneychik...when I bit into it...... enough said!

But hey, at least we tried!!! And can I say for all of you other newbies like us? We have NEVER, I mean NEVER gotten so many character shots as we did on this cruise. Before, after and during dining, there are ALWAYS characters....so have those cameras and kids ready!

Next up? Tomorrow is our character breakfast! We didn't even KNOW we had one of these!:woohoo: More later...and lovin'our trip!:lovestruc

I am shocked that you were able to get so many. It seemed like every time I turned around the lines were huge. I did manage to get ours with my man Captain Jack though!:cloud9: I just took pictures of the characters when I could and of course everyone will be saying who is that kid in the photo and I will have to say I have no idea.:lmao: We did get some good ones at the character breakfast too with both of us. We LOVE Goofy!

We were thankful to be sure! The first night, we saw characters and I remember thinking "Oh great, I'm gonna have to watch a schedule and rush here and there"...But for us? We managed before dinner or right after dinner or after shows to catch someone for a pic!:thumbsup2 We were shocked too!
And lol, what a memory! Every time you show a pic? I'd just say "oh yeah, he's mine, you've not met him yet, or yeah, she's cute huh? We just keep them hidden"..:rotfl:

Saw this ship..

This looks like the excursion ship that Stacy + her family and we went on. There were 3 ships like this. Ours was called the Silent Lady. It was great fun swimming with the turtles and the crew was just great.

Awww! I wondered if this was the Turtle Doubloon Tour? Or whatever it was named? We really contemplated, but thought after Tuesday snorkeling and doing the Rhino Riders that we might have had too much sun or be tired from all we did. It did look like fun though! I'd love to see your pics from the Silent Lady. Where did you go? And did y'all snorkel too? We're always thinking about 'next time' and know we don't want to tour the town again..:rotfl: Thanks for chiming in!:thumbsup2

You are right. It's the Doubloon Sail and Snorkel Tour. It was great the crew was super attentive, helpful and very funny. As soon as we got in the water, we saw turtles!!! :woohoo::woohoo: I'll have to ask DH where we ended up for the snorkeling but it was aobut a 45 mins boat ride. Beautiful waters though. The water temp was perfect.

"Bones" was the other ship.

I believe he said this was the old customs house that everyone has to stop and check in before entering the island. Stacy, do you remember?

Wow!!! I HATE we missed this one! I had really contemplated it, but since dh's mom can't swim, I wasn't sure she could just 'hang' on the ship while everyone else snorkeled. Did your son snorkel too? I'm impressed if he did! So, next time we've got to try this! And looks like y'all had a ton of fun and sun, and I would love to have seen your son snorkeling! Too cool!:cool2:

And I see you're going next year in Oct out of Galveston....:woohoo: I'm still checking on our next cruise...but who know's:confused3, we could meet up again on another one! I'm doing my best!:)
