whoa!!! have you ever seen a 1,000 point resale contract?

I remember that 2,000 point OKW contract when I first bought 4 years ago, it was on the timeshare store website for well over a year. I think they were asking $48 or $52 (this was around 2000 when resales were closer to that price). I heard it was actually owned by a corporation. I think it had banked points too. Wonder what happened to it?

I remember that 2000 point contract as well. At one time it had 2000 banked points and 2000 current points.

Looking at a large 2000 point or even a 1000 point contract today does seem odd. I would hope a guide would explain the issues associated with large contracts to all owners desiring a substantial interest in DVC.

Individuals who frequents these boards have a tremendous advantage over those who don't. We oldtimers...we purchased back in 1995...didn't have the resources that are available today, namely this board. The only person we knew who knew anything about DVC was our guide. We discussed purchasing enough points for extended OKW stays and he would have been thrilled to sell us one 2000 point contract on the spot. I wouldn't have known how much of a burden such a large contract would have been until I discovered the resale market and this board. I suspect these large contracts were originally purchased many years ago. The benefits of smaller contracts vs one large one was never discussed by our guide and we didn't know any better to ask.

We got lucky in that none of our 9 contracts have more than 210 points.

I wish I would have broken up my 250 point contract into 150 and 100. That way if my plans change in the future, I could selloff the 100 and still have 150.

I can't credit the boards with help on this one, but by accident, we ended up with a 230 point contract and an add on of 150 points. I think we were lucky! I can't imagine selling them, but if the need arose, we would have the right size contracts to sell.

I remember the 2000 point OKW resale at TSS and I even seem to recall it being the same use year as our original 210 point purchase. But for the life of me I could not convince my wife that we should buy those points. I told her that just because the asking price was higher than we originally paid for our primary residence was no excuse for missing out on an opportunity to add on 2000 points.

Come to think of it, since 2000 points is the maximum per person per resort, I guess we couldn't have purchased it afterall. Drat.

Actually those limits are buying from DVC, not actual ownership. DVC would have either had to buy it back ot let you go over the "limit". You should have given it a shot.
