Who would you book with?

We are thinking about a 2004 trip. Not sure of a 7-day or the 4 day yet. I usually book directly with Disney on all my land vacations so I was thinking of booking with Disney Cruise line for this trip. Are they more expensive than AAA and Costco and BJ's? Is AM EX cheaper? What about that new Disney Visa, do you get any perks with them.

I would like to save some money but I also want the Service of being able to talk to someone. Last time my in-laws booked through a travel agency and I had to get all my info from her, Disney would not disclose any info to me directly. A real pain for me the plan everything kidda person.

All responces would be greatly welcomed.

Also do you think a 6 year old will be bored with the 7-day cruise? She loved the 3-day cruise, the excursions don't seem for her so she may be doing the Oceaneers club and lab alot. Would 7 day's of this be too much?

Hi samoyed.

I booked our 7 day Magic for 7/31/04 through AAA. I got quotes from 5 places and they were the most reasonable. Plus you get the soda mugs. As far as getting info from them I probable contact the agent I am dealing with a couple times a month and she is very helpful.

Your daughter should have a great time. My son was 9 but he spent most of the day with us then went to the clubs in the evening and gave DH and I some quality adult time to go to the adult clubs.

We also book through AAA and get the mugs. They are easy to deal with and have some great rates.

My now 7 and 8 year olds have been on 3 7 day DCL since 2000 and we are going again in Nov. They have never been bored in the clubs even though they would prefer not to repeat the same activities over again,they go and meet new friends and counselors. I made them come with me for the excursions however they would have been fine staying on the ship with the club. I am sure she will have plenty of things to do. Check out the navigators for the 7 day and review them with her for the days you'll be on an excursion that way she will know what is going on.


PS I have booked with Dreams Unlimited for 3 out of 4 cruises and the only disappointment I have is that I didn't book my first cruise with them. They are wonderful.

My dad got quotes from dreams (through me) and from AAA for the 7/3/04 western, 3 staterooms cat. 6, and they were exactly the same except for the $200 Dreams rebate. I think he's going with AAA because he's a very hands on kind of guy and not internet savvy at all--he likes to be able to drive right to the agency and get any issues settled immediately. The other AAA perk is 10% off at treasure ketch if you spend $75, which probably isn't hard to do. No one in the family drinks that much soda pop--guess I"ll be using my mug at the iced tea station!

Why don't you book through DCL and then transfer the ressie to DU or whoever you choose when your cruise gets closer (maybe 90 days out) so you'll have control till then.

I would get quotes from a few, but Dreams has been great for a number of cruises for us. Any time I've had a question they would look into it for me and get back very quick. The rebate is a nice touch, but it is the people that make Dreams my favorite.

I didn't know you could transfer a reservation. If you book through disney and then transfer to Dreams Unlimited do you get the discount. Is Dreams Unlimited only internet or do they have a phone number to call and speak with someone.

We are thinking about a western in May of 2004. I have checked with DCL and AAA and they wanted over 3,900.00 for the 4 of us.
Allseastravel rate is only 3,195.00. Doesn't take much thinking.

When I have checked with DIS they have always been more than allseastravel even with rebates or on board credit.

I also just booked with allseastravel. I was originally booked with AAA. I was tired of the poor service. Which I found out from posting here, that many other people have had problems with them as well. She wasn't returning my calls in a timely manner or not at all when I'd have her ck something out for me.
Allseastravel was cheaper than AAA as well!

Does Allseastravel accept transferred reservations? We are currently booked through DCL (I wanted the convenience), but I want to transfer my reservations before the full payment is due to save money. I know AAA and Costco accept transferred ressies, but does Allseastravel?

Yes, AllSeasTravel does transfer reservations. I like to control things, so I booked my reservation myself with DCL(I wanted a certain room). They were able to transfer that, no problem!

I like to control things too. When did you transfer the ressies to Allseastravel from DCL. Our cruise is not until December 2004, but I still want to make sure I get the best price. Do you know if Allseastravel increases their prices as time goes by like DCL?

We transfered our ressie about 2 months ago and we are sailing in September 03. I don't know if Allseastravels will rise their prices as time goes by but you could call them and ask, they are very nice!

I may be dense, but what do you mean by control? If you have a good travel agent all you have to do it tell them and they will take care of everything. We have booked 3 out of 4 cruises with DU, was not in business for the 1st cruise. If I want something added to my reservation I just E-mail and always get a reply. Of course I think I am an easy client, have only contacted them about 3 or 4 times in all our cruises and only have called DCL to book our excursions, which you can do on your own no matter who you book with. I read of people calling DCL a couple of times a month, what for? If we would have been booked with DU on our first cruise I would have gotten an up grade. Had a message on our phone when we got home from DCL, left a week before the cruise, offering us an up grade. DCL did not automatically upgrade us, if we had booked with DU they would have known where to reach us at the BC. And as far as transfering near the end I really don't know what that would save because the cost of the cruise increases, only thing would be a rebate or shipboard credit like DU gives.

My in-laws booked the family cruise through a travel agent. I wanted to upgrade to a verandah. Had to go through the travel agent for that, ok that makes sense. Then I wanted to send a special gift to my daughter in our stateroom. I needed our ressie number to do that. Room number was no good. Well travel agent would not give it to me. Real pain. Called Disney, they said since the travel agent booked it, they could not give me the ressie number. Real pain again... Called the Gifts number and acted real dumb.... O' I don't have it with me and all.... real nice.... looked it up ordered the gift for me .... then acted real dumb again and asked her to give me the ressie number since I was at work and didn't have my paper work with me.... Thank goodness she was nice enough and gave it to me.....

That is why I don't use travel agents..... What's the big secret with the ressie number.... Did she think I was going to switch companies or find out the real rate she was charging me..... I would rather control everything myself.

With Dreams your itinerary prints out with both their reservation number and the Disney reservation number. It's not withheld from the guest.
