Who Will Be There December 6?

We'll be there! :cheer2:

We arrive around noon on the 6th. We had planned to hit up the Magic Kingdom right away. We were hoping the expansion would be open by then and we'd have time to check it out before we head to Epcot which is open a little later. Now knowing it will be opening day, we may wait to hit up the MK until the next day when there might be a tiny bit less of a crowd - or we might be so excited we won't be able to sleep unless we catch a ride on the Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid!

Either way I'm super excited. :cool1:
See a bunch of you there!

IMHO,Disney should have scheduled the Grand Opening one day earlier! What a great way to "honor" Walt that would have been!:)

Also, this is going to be an even MORE exciting debut for FLE that it otherwise would have been, because FLE will debut "DRESSED" for the Holidays with garland, wreaths, trees, etc. everywhere!:):)

We will be there 11/28 through 12/12, but will only be able to see FL on the 10th, since it won't be open till the 6th and our previous MK days are the 1st and the 5th. My only thought of concern is that the 10th is an EMH night and so the park will be busier than usual and, of course, FL will be a jam packed
mad house. I'm hoping that maybe by the latter part of the extra magic hours, the crowds might thin out some and we will get to explore and ride some of the rides then.

We will be attending the Xmas party that night as well!! I wish it opened a day earlier as we will be at MK all day on the 5th.

I thought it was odd that they decided to open on a party night. But I think it would make sense for them to keep the area open during the party.

My fear is that now the party will be sold out because of people wanting to spend more time in the new area. (And now it all makes sense)

My DH and I were thinking the same thing...that party is gonna sell out for sure! We'll be there at that night, Happy Bday holleypie, and a morning that was going to be our "rest" day is now a full MK day :) So glad we'll be at BLT.

Does anyone know what is meant by "previews beginning November 19th"? Does that mean the expansion area will be open by that time, but not the rides? And will the general public be able to go to the preview?

Ahhhhhhhhhh so excited!!!! We arrive on December 7th for our wedding on the 8th and then our honeymoon trip!!! I'm so glad it will be open for our trip! We are also trying to get into BOG for a dinner one night... Hope the ADR's open soon.

Have any of you been to the MK or another park for an event like this? I can't help but think what a madhouse it's going to be. We'll be there for sure that day since we have the BBB booked for my DD.

Disney has previews for most new attractions/expansions/parks, etc. For several weeks leading to their grand openings. These are often for cast members, invited guests, VIP's, and sometimes AP holders. Because this is an expansion, it may have a special entrance for special ticket holders.

I attended previews for DCA back in 2001, and most of the park was open for the invited guests, including rides and some restaurants and shops. Previews are like dress rehearsals for the cast.

I was at DL for opening day of the "New" Tomorrowland in 1998. It was a nightmare. Radio stations had booths everywhere, and the lines were off the hook. Not to mention the fact that Rocket Rods broke down off and on for most of the day. A preview of things to come.

By contrast, I attended the 50th anniversary celebration of DL (7/17/05), and the crowds were considerably light. Just mostly real Disney fans, along with several thousand Disney-entitled elitists. The ladder is probably why so many normal Guests stayed away. The park crowd practically doubled the very next day. I'd be willing to bet that Universal Hollywood had near-record attendance on July 17, 2005.

I'll be there!! It will be our second day of our trip! I am taking my niece for the first time to celebrate her bday and her high school graduation...I should get the best aunt award!:thumbsup2

Sooooooo, now that they have announced this opening for that week.. do you think the "normally low-crowd first two weeks of December" are now going to be as busy as some of the holidays? I mean, that's big news and I'll bet a bunch more people are going to want to go so they can check it out as well as enjoy the holiday fun.. don't you think?

I am wondering about crowds too! At least we will be at Disney! I am anxious to see what happens and how crowded it will really be.. We will be there December 13-December 21!

Wonder of that's why they have painted over the grass that was on top of the Little Mermaid attraction with what looks like Snow???

We'll be there Dec 8-14 and as much as I'm looking forward to seeing FLE, now I'm nervous about crowds. I thought it would be a less crowded time to go... DH hates crowds!

FWIW,there seems to be a lot of "buzz" around that the Passholder,DVC and Cast Member Previews are going to take place BEFORE November 19 and that the "Previews" beginning November 19 will be open to all Guests with,in this case,Disney using the term "Previews" in place of "soft openings".:)

Of course, that is all just pure speculation at this point,-only time(and more announcements from Disney)will tell.:)

I think the crowds will definitely increase, I DOUBT they will be Christmas-week sized crowds..Most people have their trips planned already, but alot of locals and people that live close by will be going I am sure.I do think that the opening day is a going to be PACKED.

The Disney Parks Blog had a video the other week that mentioned that FLE would not be decorated for the holidays until 2013. (see last few seconds of the video)http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/07/christmas-in-july-at-walt-disney-world-resort-were-already-prepping-for-disney-holidays-are-you/

I don't think it's a given that FLE will be open during MVMCP on its opening day. If it's not decorated for the holidays, they may just be taking BoG bookings until 7 and call it a day.

I hope they choose to keep it up for the party. If I were attending MVMCP that night-I'd be so torn on what to do during those 5 precious hours.

We'll be there December 8th through the 16th, but I think we may just walk through FLE as I expect with all the media coverage (not only major media, but Disney bloggers and website owners) and even more obsessed fans than ourselves, it will be too crazy for us to enjoy (I don't handle massive crowds well). We're coming back next September so things will have hopefully calmed down more by then so we can really explore the new area.
