Who Will Be There December 6?

I'm scheduled for MK 8th - its busy anyways on a weekend but now it will be be mobbed :rotfl:

If anyone wants to, join our December Roll-Call board - link is in my siggy :)

We arrive on the 6th....not so thrilled about it opening on the 6th, officially at least!!! Ah well. I would imagine that crowds will be much heavier than usual. I have seem people posting in various areas that they are changing their dates so they can be there for this opening!! Add this to the normal PopWarner people and it would seem that MK is the place to stay away from until the following week!!!!
I know that in the past, when there has been an 'official opening' but previews leading up to the official opening, the attractions have been open to the general public, pretty much at least. But, you do have to be prepared for closures or slow downs. I think Disney does it this way so they can tweak things before the official opening. So, yeah, you can most likely access it after Nov 19, but it may not be open as often as you would think or run as quickly. So, be prepared for issues to happen.

Jennifer from the Disney Parks blog seems to have clarified this in the replies today:

"The preview period allows guests a chance to experience the new area/attractions prior to the grand opening. During a preview period, attractions and experiences may have limited operating hours."

No mention of passholder/CM previews in her reply. Sounds like the previews she's referring to will be open to any guest.

Wow that would be great!! I hope we will be able to try everything while we are there! Thanks for the info!

I'll totally be there on the 6th! :cool1: Going to have to be a Rope Drop arrival for sure. Wonder how this will affect the other parts of MK and the other parks and if they will be a lot quieter

Does anyone know if they will do some sort of special "Opening Day" event on the 6th? Is it something we should plan to attend, or just wait and go on our normally scheduled days? We were planning to attend MK on the 4th and 10th. The 6th was going to be our IOA day, but my husband is wondering if we'd regret not being at MK on opening day. Thoughts?

We are at WDW from 13th Dec thru till 27th. Our first MK day will be on 14th Dec so it should be in full swing by then :cool1:

Claire :)

We arrive late the 5th and are sooo excited by this announcement! We were hoping it would be open, as we are planning on doing MVMCP on the 6th! Can't wait!!

I was also wondering if the "preview" on Nov 19th will mean the new stuff will open to the public on that day or if it is just for passholders. I will be in Disney Dec. 3 to 8 and am scheduled to go to MK on the 5th. I won't be going on the 6th as crowds will be very heavy and probably the next few days as well. Therefore, I am hoping that everything opens to the public on Nov. 19th so that we can do it all before the grand opening.

Nov. 19th will be for the general public. AP previews will be before that.

From the Blog comments:

Crazy enough, I had 12/6 scheduled as our MK day anyway so all the better! Planning to be there at rope drop to try and miss the mid-day madness that will undoubtedly ensue.

That is great news! Thank you. Do you think all of the new attractions will be open for the Christmas parties as well? I'm sure the lines for the new attractions will be a lot shorter at the parties than during regular hours.

December 6 is DURING MY TRIP!!!!:)

I have never been at WDW for an event this big!:)

Anybody else already have a trip planned for then?:)

How exciting!:)
We almost moved our trip to December 13, but now I'm glad we did not and kept our arrival date of November 24. The crowds will be INSANE at Magic Kingdom and I just can't do crowds. I hope we are able to hit some soft opening previews during our last few days without all of the crowds and the media circus that will be there mid-December, but I'm not counting on it. When the opened CarsLand this summer at Disneyland there weren't really any previews for day guests. They even closed the entire park the day before the huge media grand opening.

We will be there.

We will probably also check out the AP holder event.

Have any of you been to the MK or another park for an event like this? I can't help but think what a madhouse it's going to be. We'll be there for sure that day since we have the BBB booked for my DD.
It will be INSANE and people who plan to be at Magic Kingdom on December 6, and the few day following the grand opening, need to prepare thenselves for the huge crowds. I don't think it will have much impact on the crowd numbers for the other 3 parks, but I would expect all of the crowd calendar numbers for Magic Kingdom to go through the roof for mid-December. I would say the Fantasyland expansion grand opening would be comparable to the CarsLand opening at California Adventure this summer. TG doubled their crowd numbers after the announcement for the Carsland opening and I would suspect they will do the same for the Fantasyland expansion grand opening.

Saturday the 8th is going to be crazy insane (Saturdays in December are always busy to begin with).

We're planning to be in MK on Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th. I'm hoping that by then, the frenzy will have died down a little.

We'll be arriving on property on the 6th..but we won't be at MK til the 7th.
