Who wants to stay at BLT "one day" but has no desire to own there??

:goodvibes I have seen all sorts of threads about BLT so I thought I would post this. I hope to stay there to "try it out" at some point, but we have no plans to ever own there. I would stay 2 or 3 days when I want to enjoy the MK area, but would not stay a full week. Just curious as to others that are excited about it being there, will try and stay but aren't planning on owning there. So please no negative posts. I just want to know if other DVC'ers are excited that another DVC resort is hopefully availalble to us....... to stay at, in the future.

I'm in this boat. For starters, we have no plans to purchase anymore points *anywhere*. But if we did, we would likely just buy resale from less expensive properties as the going price of BLT is way too much. also... I though I love the idea of being SO close to the Magic Kingdom. ( I LOVE it ), I think overall, our ownership of BCV is more appealing to me.

That being said, who knows, maybe staying there one night will super-wow us and we'll want to own there :) ... but I doubt it.

I'm not interested in staying there right now. Maybe at some point in the future, but it's not high on my list of things to do. :rotfl:

We love AKV. It is the PERFECT home resort for us. The 3 of us fit in a studio just fine, we love having the option of concierge, it's a really good fit. If we run out of points we can tack on cash nights in a room on the "lodge" side with a AAA or AP discount and probably come out better than paying the member discounted price for more nights in the villa.

I guess we are kind of weird because we weren't looking for a "vacation home" experience. I want daily housekeeping, clean towels every day, and I never want to eat any meals in the room. (We do like having the fridge.) A regular room at AKL is our idea of perfect, and the studios come pretty close. We stayed in a standard studio for 4 nights last month and I liked it. I didn't mind not having daily housekeeping, though next time I will definitely get extra towel packs. As circumstances change and DS gets older our preferences could easily change, so we have flexibility with DVC. I do not think BLT will ever be high on my list because of the points and because the studios are so teeny. Location isn't a big factor for me.

I "must";) stay at every DVC at least once....So yes I definately want to stay there once.....but have no plans to buy there.

The CR theme never appealed to me.....I would have gotten there one day because I actually want to stay at every WDW hotel as well. I'm glad that I have the option of DVC there for sure.:thumbsup2

I hope we stay there some day but no more than I would like to try out all of the DVC locations.

I would like to stay one day. But like many others, the rooms decor does nothing for me. The only reason why I would stay there would be walking distance to MK.

Count us in the "one day, but not own" group. The architecture holds no appeal to us, and its proximity to MK while being a plus is not enough of a draw.

I would love to book a day or so at BLT but only if I could get a Lake View room on the north side...so I could look longingly at VWL.

Of course, the north side of the "C" would be just a request, so I'm not sure I'd want to risk it. :rotfl:

yeah, a couple of nights would be fun.

I am not thinking I will ever buy BLT now, even though I was 4 months ago. I will try and get a couple of MK view studio days at the 7 month mark in a couple of years. If I get it I might change my mind, first because if I could get an average demand day at 7 months I might be able to get a high demand at 11 months, and second if the overall “feel” of the resort is more appealing than I am expecting.

We'd definitely like to try a few nights there, if we could get MK view. I guess I would settle for Lake view if I had to and knew we could find a good semi-public viewing spot, like the lounge, for wishes. DS hates fireworks up close, but loves them from a distance. (We can't currently watch any of the fireworks from within the parks without a major meltdown.) I'm sure that will change as he gets older, but in the short term, we always plan to watch the fireworks from a safe distance. Cali Grill and Ohana have both worked well.

Anyway, I'd be willing to spend the points to get a few nights with MK view at the 7 month window... for any size unit available. I can probably find someone to go with us if I have to book a size larger than we need. ;)

I have a small desire to own there for the location, but I really hate the decor. But everyone is different; my best friend's family loves that style of decor, and they never stay anywhere but the CR. (They aren't currently DVC owners... but BLT might eventually tempt them.)

I plan on staying at BLT every year in either a MK view or Lake view room.

One night in a MK view room would be torture. I'd have to buy points.

If I had the money I'd buy at BLT in a heartbeat! Maybe someday...:genie:

With only 20% of rooms having a MK view only those who own there will get those rooms. No MK view makes the resort a lot less desirable to me. We like MK but spend alot more of our time at Epcot. We will stay there at some point though!! I plan on staying at all the resorts eventually. Unlike DVCMike, I will not own at every one! You are my hero!

I am in the one day and out category. I would like it for the day I go to the MK, but I prefer OKW for my long term stay!

Same here, maybe for a quick overnight stay but no way I'm parting withthat many points, the locations isn't that appealing to me--I never stayed there on cash, so "tossing out" all those points just isn't my thing. To each their own, I'm sure others would prefer the location so no biggie to use all those points!

Hmmm, After crunching some longer term numbers, I'm thinking just the opposite... With the lower MF cost of BLT- a better value than AK (long-term) is buying points at BLT and staying at the cheaper properties....

Especially for us (off season vacationers), Im starting to feel better and better about a BLT purchase, even over the heavily discounted AK deals...

I might try it but have no interest in buying points. The only resort that might tempt me is GCV.

One day, many years from now, when I take my toddler-age grandchildren for their first trip, being very close to the MK will be a huge plus.

Of course, by then, they will probably have a POLY DVC, a fifth park, and some other STOL monorail resort................(and hopefully, said future grandchildren will have a father that is an Imagineer or a mother that's a doctor and own their own darn points :rotfl: )

In the meantime, BLT is up there with Hawaii and GCV as a place we'd like to try once before our current kids leave home. I'll waitlist for a MK view and eventually, I'm sure it will come through.

But - if I was looking to add-on for myself, I'd buy more relatively cheap SSR points and live in a THV for a couple of weeks every year. :thumbsup2  Or, I'd buy VB points to guarantee the 11-month advantage for my one "must-stay" resort. :cloud9:
