BLT Condo Meeting Discussion

No front desk and iPads aside, I believe the bigger push is to get guests to self-check in and use the phone digital key to access the room. Thus, lessoning or perhaps eliminating the need for staff at check in (cost reductions).

This works well so long as the Wi-Fi works well. At Aulani it did not and was a known issue with site maintenance. Physical key cards were needed in some room areas. I don't think that is the case with BLT.

Desk or no desk I still prefer someone in the lobby for check in. There always seems to be one random question that needs answered or need addressed.
This is "the way", No front desk. Went to the new Poly Tower and there is no desk, just a couple of Cast Members walking around with IPads. I wonder if after the Kidani refurb, we see the front desk removed. The new resort at Fort Wilderness will almost certainly have a front desk since half the resort is non DVC.

Our trip in August we did a split stay at RIV and BLT. RIV check-in was by far better. The front desk removal was after our trip so very recent - I hope what they are going for is the RIV experience and there are just kinks to be worked out.

Not that complaints should not be heard, but if changes are made due to the comments at the BLT meeting - you do know that will come out of our dues, right? I found nothing in the updated rooms that I would consider to be complaint-worthy, and I really don't care if the sofa is less comfortable - the murphy beds are a HUGE improvement - DON'T TOUCH THEM!

Certainly as a bed they are a huge improvement no arguments there but if you are not cramming in the max capacity into the room and would actually like to use the living room for some down time these are absolutely awful for sitting on.

Meh - they're not that bad, plus how much time are you really spending sitting on the couch? You could always fold down the bed and sit on that.

FWIW, I don't consider 4 people in a 1BR to be "cramming max capacity".

So we extended our trip and we are now staying at blt for a few nights because we got sick because it seems everyone here is sick and doesn't care and I dont want to go on a plane sick and get other people sick 😡

With that being said, Disney has been very gracious and attentive and I am even more happy and proud of our decision to become members. We're almost a year in and loving it (a little too much 🤣🤣)

Some observations, as soon as we walked in there were three cast members standing right in front that greeted us with "welcome home" and checked us in immediately.

It is kind of awkward seeing them standing there without a desk, as someone who used to work at a hotel front desk I would be pissed tbh if i was them, that desk acts as a barrier for some irrate guests 🤣

So now im in a studio hyper aware of the things people were complaining about. And I have to agree with the functionality of the room being not the greatest and thats from me being an owner and very proud of my home resort.

I wish they had the double curtains so we can have some privacy, but still see outside. I now understand the complaint about the mirror and getting ready although I don't understand why people cant just sit in front of the full length mirror so to me thats a non issue.

I wish the night stands were bigger, it sucks barely having room for a tissue box and other stuff I need. I also wish they had light dimmers.

With that being said, I still love my home resort and excited to see the Christmas fireworks from our room in a few minutes 😀

Our resort view room actually has a view of the castle and fireworks and we feel very greatful to be here, despite this trip having some hiccups and almost not happening altogether (not Disney's fault) Trip report coming soon! 😀

Ah and the parking lot is nowhere near full. Our bellman who we had back in January told us that this Christmas is pretty empty compared to years past, his reasoning is due to the economy, other cast members have made mention that people dont want to travel here, im not trying to get political so im not agreeing or disagreeing, just that noting that more than one cm has told us its very calm compared to years past and have given their reasonings

Once experienced, BLT balcony fireworks always stay with you.
It really is the best place to see them and really admire the detail and feel wrapped up in the show. Ive watched them from many hotels and none made me cry except my blt ❤️ (pit was close)

It was awesome at the end hearing everyone cheer from their balconies, def an awesome vibe, felt like it was new year, I really need to stay for that 🤣🤣

I noticed that there were people hacking up a lung all over WDW, in the airport, and even on the plane. Both my wife and I ended up sick the day after we got home. We were part of a very tiny number of people on the Mears bus, in the airport, and on the plane wearing a mask. I suspect we probably caught it while in Epcot or AK a couple of days before we left.

Yes its really bad, even some of the cms are hacking up a lung.

Youre lucky it happened to you after, I am holed up in the room, at least I have my nightly fireworks 🤣 Thank God for delivery services for medicine, but you still gotta go down there and show id 🤣

I feel like people here are more, um accepting of everyone just being sick. When we checked into blt I informed them right away that we were sick and I was standing very far away when checking in so as not to intrude in their space and cm just walked right up to me and said its okay I have a 5 year old niece!

I guess I should be happy because in California people would be staring at me like I have leprosy and an awful person for stepping foot outside 🤣🤣 I do have to consider that even with all of the wonderful seasonal offerings, this is probably not the best time for us to go given the high chance of getting sick. For the month we were there in September, nobody got sick.
