Who Wants To Be a Millionaire - Walk In and Win Week

Can Canadians go on Walk in and Win?

As far as I know, the rules for Walk In and Win are the same as any other taping of the show. And, according to the official rules of the show, the answer is no. Sorry.

"D. Contestants must be residents of the fifty (50) United States or District of Columbia, and must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted to the qualification site."

Rob, you're my new hero!! I told my hubby about you...my Millionaire friend who knows *everything* about it :D He laughed! (Either because he's glad I have someone else to talk "WWTBAM" with or he thinks I'm crazy. Jury's still out.)

My husband *knows* I'm crazy, but I'm sure he's happy I have you guys to babble at about WWTBAM with. :)

For my 101st, or Dalmatian, post :dog: a question. I was just reading a Trip Report post where the person mentioned that they had been at WWTBAM-PI! recently and the staff mentioned a 5 year old winning the cruise about a month ago. For those of you that have been there recently, did the poster have their facts wrong or did my DD's record for youngest winner get beaten?

Rob

Well, Rob...I was just there today and I hadn't heard anything about a 5 yo. I was also there Dec. 2-4 and again Dec. 22-23. When I go back next week, I'll ask a CM. I'm pretty sure that your daughter still holds the record, though.

Rob, they were telling about the 8 year old when I was there as well. They also said that a 2 year old made it into the HS but it was a brief stint.

I have an 8 year old grandson who is determined to make the HS one day. He loves to play Millionaire on the computer and I had to buy him his own Kid's version for Christmas. His memory is fantastic and he is not prone to his grandma's fits of nervousness so I have hopes for him.

I would love to see you on the show as well so please do post when you know when it will be shown.

I am assuming you can only appear on WWTBAM once in a lifetime no matter what you win,but on WWTBAM-PI! can you win the cruise more than once and,if so,has it been done?I would really like to go after a second cruise-as soon as I get the first one under my belt!LOL! :)

Yes, you can only appear on WWTBAM once in a lifetime. However, they do reserve the right to have people on the show more than once if they so choose. They have done so a few times. There was a tournament of champions during the Primetime series a few years back. There have also been two special zero dollar week series. One was during the primetime series and one during the syndicated series, where they invited back contestants who left with nothing the first time and gave them a second chance. Also, during the Super Millionaire run, each night one of the "3 wise men" was a former big dollar winner from the primetime show. Oh, and you can also be on one millionaire series, too. So, primetime WWTBAM, syndicated WWTBAM, and Super Millionaire all count as one.

Yes, you can win the cruise more than once. It has been done too. I know a person who won twice at DCA when they still had the attraction. I've also read about someone doing it at MGM. I've won once and assisted my DD to another win, so that almost counts as twice. Since I'd have to technically win 2 more times myself to have the most wins (assuming I'd have heard if anyone had won 3 times), I'm hoping that my DW or DS wins instead so that we can go for the family record. I know of a family in California where the husband and wife have each won a cruise. Their daughter was a winner on the kid version of Jeopardy!, so I suspect if the show was still running in DCA, she would have won by now too.

The rule is that once you win, you are ineligible for one full year. You can play for prizes in 30 days, but you cannot win the grand prize. In fact, if you get in the Hot Seat again and successfully answer the 500,000 point question, you are advised to stop. You don't win anymore prizes by correctly answering the million point question and if you miss it you drop back to the 32,000 point level. To my way of thinking, that would cheat the audience out of a good show. Would you want to see someone reach the million point question and then walk away?

Are you saying that you can be on each of these programs once or does an appearance on any of them count as your lifetime appearance? Also,at WIAW,after you have made it past the initial selection phase,do they give you a written test or just an interview? Thanks. :)

No, you can only be on one of them. I was hoping when they announced Super Millionaire that I'd be able to try out for it, but unfortunately that isn't the case.

And for WIAW, there is no written test, only an interview.

WEDWDW, it sounds like you are planning to stand in line for WIAW. Feel free to PM me if you would like to talk to me about anything regarding the show taping. I didn't tape as part of WIAW, but I certainly know a thing or two about what goes on behind the scenes and am willing to share if it would be helpful to you.

Rob, I believe I have read that being on other game shows disqualifies you for a period of time as well. I thought it used to be two years but might be different now. I have often wondered why anyone would want to go out for Jeopardy, with much harder questions and less money, instead of Millionaire. I do believe that if I had been on it when it first started I might have had a chance as it seems as if the questions were much easier then. I even knew it was Nixon on Laugh In. LOL

I have friends who compete in contests but I would not want to pay the taxes on some of the stuff they have won. JMO

You are correct. You must wait a full year after your original gameshow appearance airs on television before you can tape another gameshow. You are also limited to 3 appearances in a 10 year period. This doesn't just include traditional gameshows either. Dating/relationship type shows and reality shows also count.

Rob

I do not have to worry about dating shows. My husband, children and grandchildren will not allow me to date. LOL

Have you ever been on any other shows? Jeopardy often interviews in Indianapolis.

Actually, yes, but you'd never believe what it was. My wife and I were extras on "That '70s Show" last season in an episode entitled "Don't Lie To Me".

After two failed audition attempts for Jeopardy!, I'm still licking my wounds. However, I will likely try again at some point, especially if they come to Louisville. I've also been watching for Wheel of Fortune to come here, but they haven't done so at least since 2000 if not well before that because I've been watching for any opportunities since that time.

I got tix for the 1/13 show taping. I live 5 hours from WDW (N. Miami Beach), and want to be sure that I will see the show, and the rest of the park, when I arrive there. Anyone know for sure?

Also, how much time ahead should I get there? Thanks! ::MickeyMo

According to the Millionaire website, you should be at the Main Gate of Disney-MGM Studios one hour prior to the time on your tickets.

Of course, if you are wanting to see the whole park, you're going to need to allow quite a bit more time than that either before or after the taping.

SG, and any others that have expressed interest, I believe that my appearance on WWTBAM will be repeated on GSN on 1/15 at 8 pm. I'll try to alert you nearer to the date if it looks like I'm off by a day or two.

Rob

Ok, this question is just a little different... We received tickets for the taping on Thursday the 12th and plan to go. I have also been calling every couple of days to see if I can pick up a cancelled reservation for an Illuminations Cruise while we're there and yesterday I was able to get one for... yep, you guessed it... Thursday the 12th! Our WWTBAM tickets say that we should be at the front gate 45min to 1 hr early for the 6pm taping and that we are required to stay for the taping of 2 shows, but it doesn't say how long this will be. I'm guessing that there is no way we will be finished in time to walk or catch the bus to Yacht and Beach marina by 7:30, so I will have to choose one or the other.

Anyone have any ideas how long the taping of 2 shows takes???
