Who used Noxzema growing up?

I did!

I remember using my fingers to scoop it out of the jar, then spreading it on my face (and hoping it didn't get in my eyes - the sting!), then rinsing it off with water from my hands, just like they showed in the commercial. Later, as a young adult, I still bought it but I used a facecloth for better control. (And realized the scrubbing part of cleaning your face was just as important as any products used.)

I stopped using Noxzema somewhere along the line, but not too long ago I noticed it came in "wipes" form, so I bought some just for old times' sake. They had the same smell, but recently changed it to a different smell  - more generic. I bet feedback was that people didn't like the smell - maybe some of them had never used the real stuff.

Anyway, I bought my daughter some of the wipes and one of her friends noticed the label said "Makeup Remover" (among other more traditional uses in smaller print) so thought that's all they were good for. Apparently not familiar with Noxzema. It made me think about it again.

Funny part, my 87 year old mother still uses Noxzema the old fashioned way. Open the jar and there are the handprints inside, lol.

So, who else used it besides me and my mother?

I did and I still do! It's my favorite face cleaner, and help moisturize my skin better than most other things I have tried. And I love the smell!

My mother used it so I did too because it was there. I haven't used it in years thought.

I didn't use it, but I remember being in elementary school and thinking that the guy from this specific Noxzema commercial was all kinds of attractive.

ETA: I also thought that the girl was all kinds of beautiful and just now realized she was Betty on Dead Like Me!

I did as a teenager, but stopped when I got older because my face is too dry now!

Man, the smell of that stuff. It was like rubbing Vicks Vapor Rub on your face:lmao:

Because anything that smelled that strong must work!

I used it when I was a teenager and didn't realize that they still sell it!

My mother has used Ponds Cold Cream all of her life and she had amazing skin.

Do they still sell Jean Nate? :rotfl:

What is Jean Nate?

I got severe sunburn about 2 years ago on my legs and asked the pharmacist what was best to use. You guessed it - Noxema. Best if kept in the refrigerator. Imagine, with everything out these days. And yes I used it on my face growing up too!:rotfl:

I used it! Where can you buy it now? I have looked for it and can't find it.

I used Ponds as an eye makeup remover, too. (Noxzema too painful for eyes!) Ponds was a little too greasy for me for regular use, though. I still remember how Ponds smelled, and the texture of it. And how my vision was blurry for a little while after taking my mascara off.

Yes, I saw Jean Nate recently in WalMart. Shoot, I never thought of it but my mother probably would've enjoyed some of that too. I'll buy it next time. :goodvibes

Yup, used Noxzema for sunburns, too! (After frying in mineral oil!) :scared1: DH's family were more Witch Hazel people - kept in the fridge!

I did as a teenage and didn't mind the smell then, thought it smelled good, in fact :rotfl2: Don't use it now, haven't since my teen years, and don't like the smell now :(

Pretending you were in the commercial was one of the fun things about using Noxzema. I remember using it it when I was 15 and thinking if I kept it up, when I was 30 and getting old I would still look good!
