Who Thinks SW Fares Will Go Lower?

i haven't seen a ding yet from PIT to MCO for Sat or Sunday...are they usually excluded? None for Columbus Day last year that I 'caught'.

Q: are they usually only for the connecting flights?

i'm so confused:confused:

I've never had to do a connecting flight - I've always seen them offered on both nonstop and connecting. It was Columbus Day 2005 when we got our deal - I didn't check in 2006 - and we flew out on a Sunday and home on Friday. This year, we could only get the $49 deal on a Tues or Wed, so we're going Wed to Tues this time. The kids have to miss more school, oh well:rolleyes1

I think you just have to keep checking - I'm not sure there are any hard and fast rules.

I just checked the SW schedule from PHL/MCO for the second week in March
(actually 11th thru 15th). It's completely WIDE open, which is very unusual for spring break time. DH and I were thinking to squeeze in a few days of sunshine after our snow/ice storms this week in PA, but, not at $122 ow. I can't believe they haven't dropped their prices yet at three weeks out. I'm betting within the next few days we'll see quite a few Ding fares to try and fill those empty seats. In so far as those traveling in a few months .......in the past I've always had luck with SW at about 8 or 9 weeks out, so, if you don't get a sale fare before that time I definitely would check on a daily basis when you hit the 9 week mark, actually if possible it's better to check several times a day......sometimes Ding's are only good for a few hours.

FYI, The day they released their July dates there were NO specials. I have been checking SW and other airlines 5-6 X's a day for the past month or so and the fares have gone from $360 to $273 (Delta, best deal out there). I sure hope a better deal comes along, but I almost want to book now in case nothing better comes along!

There's a DING for you now !

I was not happy today having to the FF rate of $170 from CT to Tampa for the first week of April, but I booked in hopes of a possible Ding before then. Anyone think it's possible? Delta was actually cheaper at $109 for the return flight!

Going out of philly the 24th and coming back on the 3rd. Got the 24 down to $47 but no luck on the 3rd let. Had dings for the 2nd and the 4th, but none for the 3rd. It will be the first time paying above $59 one way for us with Southwest in the pass 4 years. Usually don't fly on saturday's, that may be the difference.
