Who makes the "Brown & Serve" rolls?

OP here.

From what I remember, they didn't have aluminum tray. It was a cardboard tray inside of a bag. Just can't remember the brand name.

And it was always found in the bread aisle, not the frozen section.

And I never thought of them being under Hostess. Hmph!!!

Man, I haven't seen those in years! We used to have them every Thanksgiving.

We have Sunbeam and Merita here. DH and DS love them! DH's doctor tested him for celiac disease and all I could think was how will he live without his rolls. Lucky for him, it was negative!

:thumbsup2

"Brown n Serve" isn't a trademarked brand (well, in bread, anyway -- it is trademarked when it comes to sausages) -- what it is is a cooking method. These types of off-the-shelf breads are partially-baked so that when you get them home you only need to finish cooking them. Brands tend to be local with these.

The type of roll you are speaking of is almost surely the "Parker House" variety: they are very soft when fresh, slightly sweet, and contain lots of butter, so the tops end up a very glossy golden brown when baked. Most of the time you can recognize commercial PH rolls because they have a "3-hump" profile on the top of the roll, the way that they are rolled by machine creates two indentations on the top surface.

I grew up eating the Sunbeam brand. The bag is yellow and has the Sunbeam girl on it. They are set up rolls that you put onto a cookie sheet and just bake.

If you type in the google box " brown and serve rolls" you can get all kinds of images of brands.

We have them for sale in the bread aisle except the tray is NOT aluminum it is a "paper" tray. I can't remember the brand here though off hand.

Like every else said they are in a bag usually on an end cap during the holidays.

Yep, ours were Colonial or Sunbeam brand, we always had them at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. I have some in my fridge right now, going home to bake them tonight.

The ones in the aluminum pan are really good too, buy mom didn't by those, she said they were expensive. I don't even think about buying them now, I don't eat that much bread.
