Who knows how to take a sleigh ride?

OK, I home with bronchitis, and I just found something new to do for our Dec trip, if I can fit it in! Apparently there's a sleigh ride that you can pick up at WL. In the back of my mind I wanted our friends to see WL decorated for the holidays (this is their first - and maybe ONLY - WDW trip ever), but with everything else there is to do on the PERFECT trip, I couldn't justify the time. Now, perhaps with the sleigh ride, I can.

Does anyone know how soon you can book it? I read 60 days out somewhere, but I wasn't sure.

If you've done this, would you take the time, to scoot over to WL, tour the resort, take the sleigh ride, and then have dinner at Whispering Canyon (Artist Pointe is not my favorite)?

That is exactly what we did last year. There were 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 6 yr olds. It was $30.00 for a 1/2 hr ride. It was very relaxing, we went at dusk, so at least we could see some things. There was still a lot of hurricane damage in the woods, but that was all you could see. I think if I were going to do it again, I would do the carriage ride at FW so I could see all the Xmas decorations that the campers have up. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again, probably not. The kids loved the attention we got when we walked out and the carriage was waiting for us. I think we went about 5PM and our reservations for Whispering Canyon was for 5:50.

Is the carriage/sleigh ride available year-round or only at the holidays? Anyone know?

I think only at the holidays for WL sleigh ride. We did it because we were staying at WL. I don't think I would do it again either, especially if we weren't staying there.

They used to have a hayride at night that left from Ft. Wilderness. It was a rough ride (very bumpy) but neat.

Thanks guys, I do think we would like the carriage ride at FW better and as it turns out, after I took a real, close look at the schedule, there just isn't anyway to fit it in this visit. We'll just have to stay at WL again sometime soon! Thanks all.
