Who is your favorite Princess and why?

Well my favorite would have to be Leia. :rotfl: She's a Disney Princess now right?

I have to say Cinderella. I'm a guy so I didn't go through the princess phase as a child but I do vividly recall my first trip to MK in 1981 and seeing her castle as I walked down Main Street. That's always put her number 1 in my book.

Mulan is definitely my favorite, as she fights for herself and her family--the man comes later, and he chases after her. I have to say, however, that Rapunzel has come to a very close second--her main goal is her independence, and anyways, Tangled is such a sweet movie!

I agree! She should be recognized as a Disney princess...from far far away!! Lol

Belle for sure, I could always relate. Not understanding those around her and always wanting something more from life. She was kind to people even if they didn't intrigue her, and she was loyal to her crazy family. Also her love of books, I completely relate. I remember seeing it in theaters and when Beast opened the door and gave her the library as a gift I was so jealous.

Mine is either Ariel or Rapunzel. The Little Mermaid is and always has been my favorite Disney movie... I used to want to be a marine biologist and I've always been a water baby, so that probably has something to do with it.

I can relate to Rapunzel's sheltered life... not that I've been locked in a tower or anything LOL But just looking for answers and adventure. :)

Princess? Psh, when I was a little girl I was obsessed with the Beast.

Now I adore Aurora. Sleeping beauty is one of my newfound favorites. I love everything about it.

For me it has to be Princess Leia! She is such a strong female character who can hold her own. I did choose my Dis name before she joined the ranks of Disney. The force was strong! I need a Princess Leia Smilie.

When I was little it was Ariel. Now I like Aurora. I love the pretty forest and how she is always dancing and daydreaming. She also looks like my grandmother when she was younger. Maleficent is also my favorite villain.

Cinderella. It was the first princess movie I ever watched and the only one we owned for the longest time. I watched it so often that even now every sound of the whole movie is etched in my brain. My little sister and I always played Cinderella as kids, and those are some of my fondest memories with her. When I think of Disney Princesses, Cinderella is always first in my mind!

I'm really glad that Merida is getting a lot of support. I'm a father of 2 young girls and one baby boy and, honestly, I'm very reluctant to let my 4 year old watch many of the Disney movies. Frankly, a lot of their movies have pretty bad role models and little (if any) positive messages. Yes, they are entertaining... but so is Spiderman. I expect more from the Disney label than just entertainment.

I watched the Little Mermaid with my oldest for her first time (I hadn't seen it in 20 years) and was actually a little bit disgusted. I honestly can't remember one thing that Ariel did in the entire movie that was self-centered. She doesn't show up to her commitment in the very beginning, she lies to her father multiple times, she decides for leave her family to because she's infatuated with some guy after staring at him for 5 minutes, she talks her friends into lying for her, puts her whole family in danger, etc, etc, etc. To top it off... she's SIXTEEN!!

Tangled is slightly better, though not much (Rapunzel is better at least -- I'm pretty upset that they made Flynn Rider such a low life).

Merida, though, is GREAT. I have no problem letting my children watch Brave, because I think she's a great heroin and the movie delivers a positive message about the importance of families. While the Tinkerbell movies aren't nearly as entertaining as some of Disney's blockbusters, I like that they have good messages and would MUCH rather my children watch that than something like Aladdin or Little Mermaid. Snow White is also a solid choice. I like Cinderella as a character, but despise the whole "prince charming" coming to rescue her ending. Why does she even fall in love with him? Because he's rich and famous? In fact, I could do without the prince / princess being special just because of the title sort of thing. That's why I like Belle and Merida -- they're special because of what they accomplished, not because of anything superficial.

Sorry for ranting. I'm sure it's not a very popular opinion in this neck of the woods! I sort of addressed the topic of this thread!

Belle by a long shot. She prioritized her family, she reads, is polite and well mannered, is kind to everyone (she isn't even really mean to Geston, though obviously annoyed by him).

I also like that she didn't fall in love with a prince, really. She didn't fall in love with wealth, power, title, looks, prestige, etc. she fell in love with an ugly beast in a run down castle that others were terrified of. She wasn't a princess because of her father or because she "won the heart" of some man who everybody wanted. She became a princess because she wanted to protect her father, and she looked beyond everything that is superficial. She earned it....

I can't say it better, so I will steal yours! Belle all the way!

Princess Aurora!!! When I was little Sleeping Beauty was my FAVORITE movie hands-down (still is) I actually wore out Blockbuster's VHS. I love EVERYTHING about that movie, the 3 good fairies are my favorite Disney characters. Maleficent & Diablo are my favorite Villains, Prince Phillip is my favorite Prince (love Samson too) and King Stefan and King Hubert are hilarious. I love the animation, the color, the music, everything! I know she doesn't really do a whole lot besides sing with her animal friends, fall in love, cry, prick her finger and sleep, but I think the whole movie is why she is my favorite. I also have had awesome interactions with her at the park! I don't have kids, so sometimes with characters its quick take a picture & move so we can play with kids, but Aurora always talks to me and is so kind. Last year my husband and I went for our anniversary and she and Prince Phillip actually called down from a parade float "You two are adorable! Happy Anniversary! So happy for you!" :goodvibes

Have you read Kingdom Keepers! Malefiscent is the main villain in the series.

Ariel because she lives under water and can spend tons of time wig dolphins!! Plus she's the most beautiful and has the hottest prince.

Cinderella has always been my favourite. I love her kind heart, love of animals and strength. The movie has always been my favourite because there are no real violent fighting scenes like some of the other movies. It's the first full length movie I watched with my little girl.

I have to admit, though, Merida is a strong contender with me these days. It's so refreshing to see a strong princess and a positive mother-daughter relationship. And I love the accent!

Jasmine has always been one of my favorites. She was determined to have her own life and explore the world, plus the courage to actually try attacking Jafar. She fidn't run and hide when things got bad or scary, Jasmine faced them head on. Plus, she wore pants. (I hated dresses as a kid.)

I really Merida for many of those reasons. She is a strong female character who wants to live her life outside of what society demands is "right". Girls should have the same freedom to live their lives as boys are allowed.

Yes, "Brave" talks a lot about supporting your family, but the way Merida treated her mother isn't exactly something to celebrate and even she defied her parents too. Let's be honest: most of these princesses are teenage girls. What do teenage girls do? They argue with their parents, they think they are smarter and better than everyone else, etc.

All that being considered, I love Rapunzel. Mother Gothel based their relationship on a lie, so why did she expect Rapunzel to be truthful to her? I mean she STOLE a baby! That whole kharma thing and all...

My favorite is Belle for many reasons already listed by other Belle fans. :). My DD's is Cinderella. Although today after meeting Ariel in her grotto, she said that's who she is being for Halloween this year.
