Who is your favorite Princess and why?

Belle has always been my favorite since the movie came out - I loved the movie and I really like Belle as she is smart and loves to read and not afraid to show it. She also finds the good in everyone. I have many items that were purchased when the movie first came out (Despite the fact that I was in HS then!) and still have my ceramic figures from the Disney Store - now located in DD's room. (DH laughs that Belle's his fave too and tells DD it's because Belle looks like mommy :thumbsup2)
Oh, and DH also includes Pocahontas because when we first met her at AK he was taken by how beautiful she was (and adds in it's because of the dark hair like mommy - nice save on his part:rotfl2:)

DD changes everyday but usually goes back to Snow White who was the first princess she really came to know. Currently her favorite is Belle, as she's asked for a Belle birthday party this month. (Just the other day it was Merida and before that Mulan, etc.) She has a "favorite of the moment" which is the way it should be for any almost 5 year old :)

Ariel is mine and my daughters favorite. I really don't have a specific reason for her to be my favorite but she is. When the movie first came out on VHS my parents got me that, the book and cassette tape for my birthday. My daughter and I are very excited to ride her new attraction and actually meet her in Fantasyland in October! :)

For me I'd say Ariel eding out Belle by close margin. I have yet to watch Merdia's movie but I can see her being my third fave. I have a bit of princess in me but I still like to climb trees too.

For some reason I really like Belle's dress, reminds me of my favorite prom dress.

That's so funny...my brother called me Belle when I wore a big, sparkly yellow dress to prom my junior year! I'm sure it's still in a closet somewhere, loved that dress!

Belle has always been my fave because of her independence, love of books, and wanting adventure in her life. I can relate to all 3!:)

But I've really taken a liking to Rapunzel lately. She reminds me of Belle a little bit in that she's adventurous and sees the good in people. Plus the music in that movie is so addicting!

Alice is my favourite, and I don't care who says she's not a "real" princess! She's smart and self-directed and she never hesitates to stand up and speak her mind.

Belle, I'm always conflicted about. I love her in the first part of the movie, but then I get annoyed at how she puts up with the Beast being so obnoxious and keeps forgiving him the moment he so much as grunts something even vaguely approaching an apology. The whole movie starts to feel like "My First Introduction to Stockholm Syndrome" for children.

(Heresy, I know.)

As for the others... Cinderella is entirely too passive, waiting around for mice and fairy godmothers to step in and fix things. I would have run away from home years ago if I'd been her. Ariel I find is too much of a self-absorbed brat (though I do love the movie, anyway). Most of my sympathies lie with her father, not her. Aurora needs a boot in the hiney and a lesson in patience - my goodness, she meets a boy, sings one song with him, and suddenly she'll just die if she doesn't get to have him as her true love, forever and ever, Right Now!

Jasmine's pretty okay, all things considered. At least she gets out there and hangs with street urchins. And I like Mulan for the same reason - she's proactive. Things don't just happen to her, she makes them happen.

Pocahontas... I had a hard time getting past the whole "we're all nature-loving, peaceful and Green while they're all techno-polluting war-mongerers who bring nothing but chaos to the New World!". I know a little too much history for that to fly with me.

Snow White is fine on film, but her tiny, intense, squeaky-voiced "friend" in the parks terrifies me. :lmao:

Rapunzel, I find hilarious. Attention-Deficit-with-Hyperactivity Girl is adorable and highly entertaining, and I like that she uses her time in captivity to master every skill she possibly can. She's unique!

I have a copy of Brave sitting by the TV, so I'm anxious to find time to see it and find out what Merida's like. I also need to pick up a copy of the Princess and the Frog sometime soon. I'm waaay behind on my Disney movies...

You should. As a return to pen and ink vs. computer generated animation, it's truly remarkable.

I just watched Tangled about a month ago and ive never seen Brave or The Princess and The Frog so your not the only one who's behind! Lol And I have a daughter who has seen Tangked and loved it & The Princess & The Frog and hated it and she hasn't seen Brave yet.

Being Scottish I love the fact that Merida will officially become a Disney Princess and I think she is the best yet in that her story revolves around her bond with her mother and in the end she doesn't end up with a prince which is a nice change. I also think little Sofia is shaping up to be a huge success among the princesses and she is totally adorable. All this said I have to say my favourite princess is Snow White, she is the original princess and she is just so sweet and feminine (I love that she runs about on tip-toes, flicking her hair even when the soup is boiling over lol!) I agree that she doesn't get enough recognition in the parks. We met her last year in EPCOT and she was absolutely beautiful, so sweet and spent a lot of time with my DD, a lot longer than the other princesses spent with her anyway.

I used to like Belle because she is a reader. But then I thought about it some more and don't like that she consistently BORROWED books from the guy in the book shop. It's NOT a library, it's a SHOP. He needs to make a living, too! And she borrowed that one book so much that he just gave it to her? Hello, why did she not buy it, since she loved it so much? RUDE!

So my favorite is Rapunzel. At least she owns the three books she reads.

Ariel is my favorite, with Rapunzel at a close second. The Little Mermaid was my first princess movie that I saw in a theater. When I was given the VHS, I watched it over and over and over till there were lines in the tape, but that didn't stop me from continuing to watch it over and over and over. ;) I know she may not be the best role model in comparison to some others, but I love her anyway.

My daughter also loves Ariel and Tiana comes in as her close second. Actually, I think she likes The Princess and the Frog better than The Little Mermaid, but the fact that Ariel was a mermaid trumps Tiana being a frog. She's only 6, so it makes sense for her. As a parent, I love that she enjoys The Princess and the Frog so much. Tiana is an excellent role model.

I never thought of that.... I like Belle alright, but "Little town full of little people"...maybe the people who aren't as smart as her might still be nice people?... Just because someone doesn't understand what you do doesn't make them less significant. I've always wondered if Gaston would have had a change of heart the way that the Beast did, if he had been put under a similar curse.

All that said, I love Belles Reprise;
"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere.."

Merida, who officially becomes a Disney Princess in July 2013! She made a mistake but fixed it all on her own and didn't need a "man" to rescue her! One of my favourite aspects of her story is that there is no Prince that needed to rescue her.

::yes:: Yup, the feminist in me finally is happy my daughters have a princess movie that doesn't revolve a man rescuing them.

Pocahontas is my favorite. She's so beautiful and to me has sort of a mysterious, mystic quality about her. I have a lot of Cherokee in my blood as well, via my mother, though you would never know it by looking at me. I suppose my father's Scottish genes were dominant. So I do have a soft spot for Merida, too, but Pocahontas wins.

I do love them all, though. They are all special in their own way, and I don't think there are any of the princesses that I dislike.

My daughters have their favorites, but they are for very superficial reasons, lol. They're too young to really like them for their personality. DD5 loves Aurora because she wears a pink dress, and DD3 loves Snow White because for her 2nd birthday she received a baby Snow White doll that she still carries everywhere to this day. She's never even seen the movie! But she'll tell you SW is her favorite in a heartbeat. :)

Just had this conversation with my DD the other day. Mine is Rapunzel just because her story is so romantic and I enjoy her movie the most out of any of them. Not to mention "I have a dream" too :)

I wonder that, too! Gaston and the Beast are really very similar people at heart, who have just had different experiences.

And yes, I always thought Belle kind of turned her nose up too easily at the villagers. What did she think made her so special? Just because she reads? I doubt that bookstore would be able to exist if SHE were the only person in town who read-- because obviously, SHE'S not the one buying anything there.

I have loved Cinderella since I was a young girl, and now, at 46 years old, I still love her. I admire her perseverance and her ability to make the most of her unsavory situation. Every time I have met her at M&G she has been more than delightful. Plus I identify with her as I am also blonde and blue eyed and somewhat petite. Snow White is a close second, tied with Tiana, who I absolutely love for her strength and spunk. Also, as far as Meet and Greets go, Tiana is a hands-down favorite - she has always been pleasant, and everytime I have met her at M&G she has immediately picked up on my southern drawl; once she wanted to know how far south I live, once she stuck up a conversation on how one from Mississippi would make gumbo and once to ask me how far from New Orleans was my home town. The girl knows her stuff!

I am Belle. Brown hair, brown eyed book lover, beastly hubby. "With a dreamy far off look, and her nose stuck in a book" fits me to a tee.

I have to agree, saw the movie this past weekend, cried the entire time! Plus my first born is a red head, blue eyed beauty who is also strong willed like Merida!
