Who is the most famous person you know?

Ralph Macchio was in my sister's graduating class at high school. my sister knew him because she was involved in the drama club. my sister and I were at different high schools, so technically I didn't go to school with Ralph. but he came to my sister's birthday party, so I guess you could say I know him.

Interesting thread! I have met many famous people, but can't say that I "know" too many.

I know a few former Congressmen quite well, as the work I do involves me with government officials to a degree. Former NJ Governor Jim Florio sits on the Board of Directors of a group I consult with, so I know him fairly well in a work sense.

Mark Tatulli, the cartoonist who draws "Heart of the City," is a longtime family friend (he and my brother were childhood best buddies who still keep in touch).

I was friendly with Olympian Carl Lewis in Junior High and High School.

Most of the cast and crew of the television show Third Watch -- but most notably Executive Producer Ed Bernero, Actors Tia Texada, Jason Wiles, Skipp Sudduth and Anthony Ruivivar.

I would have to say Walter and Connie Payton. They were neighbors in the late 70's/early 80's before he started making serious money with the Bears. :teeth: He and Connie were the nicest, classiest people you would ever want to meet.

I also babysat for some of the Cubs back in the late 70's. I don't know if anyone remembers Rick Monday, Jack Aker and Bill Bonham or not, but they were pretty big back then.

You're so lucky! Walter was my all-time favorite football player.

I went to high school with Vivica Fox. We were in choir together and in several musicals (she mostly danced though). In high school she went by her middle name (Angie). I actually connected the dots when she was on the cover of TV guide wearing her hair pulled back (the way she wore it in school). I pulled out the yearbook and just then found out that her real name was Vivica.

She really was a sweet girl, and I was shocked to realize that she had gone on to be an actor. She really didn't have that ambition in school at all (wasn't in the drama club, never tried out for anything but musicals, etc.)

Former NFL player Mark Rypien - his family is involved in youth hockey here and his nephew is plays with my son.

Also several former junior hockey players that went on the NHL after their time in Spokane - Kurt Sauer, Trent Whitfield, Travis Green...

My husband was assigned as medical coverage for George Bush Sr several years ago, but I guess that doesn't count!!

My husband worked with Brent Keith just a few months ago. Brent Keith is the country singer that was just voted off of Nashville Star a week ago. We are sure his name will be very popular over the next coming year.

Derek Lowe of Boston Red Sox- went to elementary, junior high and high school together. Was my best friend's cousin. He is not worth knowing I will say that! He is the jerk they say he is.

Had classes in college with Danny Manning, Greg Ostertag, Scott Pollard, Jacques Vaughn. Basketball fans know which college I went to! I did'nt know them well, but I did get into an argument in English 101 with Ostertag.

Oh,

I talked for a long time with Adonis Jordan at a gas station once and he let me wear his 1988 NCAA championship ring for about a minute!!!

I don't really know any celebrities. The most well-known people that I am truly friends with are Alex and Towncrier :teeth:. I've met lots of DISers, and I'll take y'all as friends over celebrities any day.

Browneyes, one of my favorite Walter Payton stories was when shortly after they moved in, my mom was asked to get an autograph for an old friend of hers. We hadn't really gotten to know Walter yet, we'd pretty much only exchanged hellos. My mom was on the way to the store so she pulled her car up into his driveway and ran up to ring his doorbell. He answered the door and graciously gave her the autograph. When she returned to her car she realized that she locked the keys in her car with the car running! Walter invited her in since it was cold outside, and then he got a coat hanger and spent about 15 minutes trying to unlock her door. In the meantime, Connie offered my mom cake and coffee. I thought they were so sweet since they were virtually strangers at that time.

I still can't believe he is gone. It is so depressing to think about it.

I also knew Carlton Fisk (catcher for the White Sox as well as Red Sox) when I was younger. His son and I are the same age and I got to know him when he came to my school for his sons basketball and baseball games.

Carlton Fisk! OMG, I had a HUGE crush on him when he played for the Red Sox in Boston. One of my co-workers used to babysit for his kids when they lived in Lexington MA.

One of my HS classmates is a stuntwoman in Hollywood. Also, a classmate in grade school (in LA) was a child actor and was in the movie "The Over The Hill Gang".

My Dad was good friends with the father of Michael Jackson's Lawyer. An Uncle in LA knew several celebs, being a part-time entertainer himself. One night a local news anchor came to visit after work and I totally freaked when he walked in the door. I was probably around 4-5 years old and didn't know how he could have come out of the TV. :p

Wendy...for whom the restaurant chain was named.

I knew Hooty and the Blowfish when they were just a college bar band.

My dad sold a car to James Brown back in the 80's. (It was a Lincoln) My husband and I have a friend that played in his band. I'd have to say that is the closest I have ever been to a celebrity.
Oh, and Nicolas Cage was at a club in my city last Sat night. Man, I wish I had known that while he was there, I would have run down there!;)

There's a Giants football player and a Net's basketball coach that live on my street.

I know several NHL'ers from their Junior days.
Most of them I'm still friendly with when I see them. :)

FIL knows Gordon Lightfoot.

I knew Chad Hugo of the Producers The Neptunes with Pharell Williams. They also produced A lot of NSync, and Britney Spears and now are a group called NERD. He lived a few doors down. Sweet guy...great saxophonist. Kills me though when they act like they are from the hood... Chad was as middle class as middle class could be. But still the most talented person I know. Havent seen him since 91 though.
