Who is Not Buying VGF2 and Why?

West coast family who visit DL primarily. Waiting to see intro pricing for DLT. Own direct points at SS back when min buy in for perks was 100pts, so I have no need for more direct points.

We own 160 at VGF (bought in 2013) and added at Riviera during construction, so we aren't looking to add points, but even if we were, the addition of studios only (and "lacking" studios at that) would probably send me to another resort if we were looking to add on. Prior to buying at Riviera we really considered adding at Poly but we realized that we wanted 1 & 2 BR options in our home resort. I'm seriously concerned that the 1 & 2 BR's are going to become an issue; if the pools were better I'd consider selling our VGF and buying an equivalent BLT contract.

We have only 65 VGF points, and we’ll keep those, but won’t add on.

Just this week, we spent two nights at VGF. We used Mears Express and were very pleased with the service. These two nights were booked with other than VGF points, and the villas were beautiful, quiet, and it was a lovely stay, but the point chart is expensive. This was really a split stay one night in a one bedroom, one night in a two bedroom with friends.

Obviously, our few points will only get us studios, and we’ll use them to book 11 months out when we want to go. Other than December, it hasn’t been hard to book studios at 11 months, but even this past December we were able to get three nights in a PV studio. We have a 4 night stay in a PV studio this April.

I do not like the idea of no microwave, and a regular bathtub. I need a shower stall. The Resort studios are not for me. I was surprised at the “reasonable “ price of this offering.

Own at VGF1, love the resort and it's location but are very disappointed with DVD being able to change the association. The deal breaker for us is the omission of the kitchenette which we always use. We will likely now be walking reservations, if we can't get vgf1 rooms, plan B will likely be to sell.

Who knows about this building. Maybe?

Poly's soundproofing is also terrible from a cheap hotel flip. I've heard conversations next door. But I love Poly so much I just turn on my noise machine.
Installing additional thermal or acoustic insulation isn't cheap, and would be a significant cost even for an expensive renovation. The most efficient and cost-effective method for adding insulation is the application of blown cellulose fiber material, like a DendaMix product into the wall and ceiling cavities. Other than that, all of the wall and ceiling sheetrock would need to come out, batt insulation installed, then wall and ceiling drywall and finishes restored. The downside to blown insulation is you cut port holes into the wall/ceiling surface and inject the cellulose until the cavity is filled (usually when you see it exiting the next injection hole.). Because Poly is comprised of quick and inexpensive-to-build modular room units (like a cruise ship), and not a conventional single-stud partition wall between units, you could be blowing cellulose fiber into the wall or ceiling and it could run for days until it finally fills up. Blame Roy Disney for building a cheap hotel to begin with back in 1971.

We were planning on buying but the AUL fire sale at $133 a point won out. I did for a few minutes this morning kick around the idea of selling my AUL points and buying 300 VGF points. My AUL points would likely sell for $125pp and net $112 after commissions. The VGF points would be $179 plus closing. At 300 points it comes out to a 20k difference.
Now VGF is $1.66 cheaper per point in dues than AUL, so simple math says I break even in 40 years lol. But VGF will always have a higher resale price than AUL so there is that.
Ultimately what I decided on was I don’t really ever use the 11 month advantage anyway and it’s not worth the 20k and hassle to swap my AUL points for VGF points. If I was just adding on today and had to choose between AUL at $133 or VGF at $179 (14k difference), I would likely just do VGF.

GF is honestly one of my least favorite Disney resorts, so I never considered it. Plus I think my 610 all-resale points are more than enough, especially every year just before Xmas when the dues statement comes out!

I guess I should say it isn’t just that I have enough VGF points; I have enough total points…period. We have enough to go when we want and now treat family to trips too. We’re going this summer for 5 nights with extended family using our points. We now seem to always have extras and rent out to friends. Also, with some of the frustrations at WDW lately, we have already cut down on our number of annual trips. Instead of buying more, we’ll either stay the same or possibly sell some.

Just bought first contract on Poly Resale at 50 points. Definitely plan on buying more points so this was tempting. But Riv with incentives is a bit better price and we like it more. We already are next door. Looking for something more kid friendly and themed like AK or BCV or CC. But the price made us take a good hard look and talk to our guide.

I just bought another 50 at AKL direct and I am doing another BLT resale contract. While VGF is nice, I don't care for the new studios and with all the people buying at VGF2 the real studios and larger at the original VGF will be impossible to get.

Yeah this is the part I hate! We’ve been staying at the VGF on $108 a point Jambo points for the past three years. As 7 months wasn’t too hard when we travel. Bye bye to that!

I'd think more units generally makes it easier to book. The toughest places to get into are generally the smallest. (Current VGF, BCV, VGC...)
