Who is Not Buying VGF2 and Why?

The family has no real interest or desire to stay there, so doesn't seem logical to purchase points at the resort. It's just not our cup of tea. We also stay in either 1-bdrm or 2-bdrm units so not keen on the price chart or potential scarcity of those rooms.

The overwhelming majority of people want studios.

See I don't think there is actual data to prove this just guesses.

Studios filling up before 2BR and 1BR doesn't mean much and 1BR being last to book doesn't mean much either. All it means is that for the room balance in question the Studios have at least a couple more people wanting them but that does not mean overwhelmingly.

Also Disney building all studio based resorts doesn't mean much either as its cheaper for Disney (no kitchen), can fit in more rooms, and they can charge more (since people need less points).

We have the passes but don’t feel like going to WDW again unless the crowds dissipate. DVC still works for us regardless because the family gets together and most of us don’t hit the parks anyway.
VGF is nice. I like the spa. I’ve never stayed there but YouTube says the walls are paper thin. When I’ve done a park all day, though, I could sleep on the bus. Might be fine. Those prices are pretty good. 😍… once my student loans and taxes are paid, I’ll see what kind of play money I have left.

I have over 400 VGF points already. They're resale but can be used at RIV because they were purchased before those restrictions went into effect. I have a grandfathered membership.. I don't need more points.
I am in a similar situation as you are. We already own a good bit of VGF resale points without restrictions. I don’t need any more.
Same here. The only thing would be whether we want to continue staying at VGF over Christmas - we are taking a break from Christmas this year, we'll see how it goes later.

I'm planning on buying RIV. Thought for a moment about VGF. I just think RIV will be harder to get into at 7 months than VGF.

I’d rather buy more Riv or hold out for the “next” one. The 2BR standard view at RR is a hidden gem.

If we bought more, it would probably be RIV - we toured the GV during one of our pandemic stays and I would see doing a resort only family trip there. But that's a lot of points...

We have not used our RIV or VGF points for any other resort, and do not plan to. Standard view at RIV is such a hidden gem and you do need to own there to book it. 2019 we watched New Years Eve fireworks at MK and EP from our balcony. It was beyond amazing.

For people asking about noise at VGF, of course we have only stayed in the OG villas building, several times, and have not noticed any noise issues.

There isn’t a bad view from the 2BR standard!! That sounds awesome.

If I needed more points I would, but we just went on our first DCL cruise last fall and really enjoyed it. We have enough points for about 3 weeks in a 1 bedroom on average so buying more *and* trying to plan other vacations would probably be overkill.

And I'll piggyback on this by adding that the "resort studios" may not be preferred over the "deluxe studios" which require the same number of points now that VGF1 has the murphy sofa beds. Having a split bath and a kitchenette for the same number of points looks more attractive to me than what is essentially a hotel room.

Those "deluxe studios" are all part of a 2BR lockoff. Increase the demand for deluxe studios and you decrease the likelihood of being able to book even a dedicated 2BR as anyone wanting a 2BR will be even less likely to get one of the 47 lockoffs.

The only way that VGF2 eases, or at least doesn't increase, booking issues at VGF1 would be if the new "resort studios" are much more popular than the "deluxe studios". As in favored better than 4:1 over "deluxe studios" given that a small percentage of those "resort studios" are TPV studios with higher point requirements.

Bingo

Because its can't just be that its 50/50 it needs to be everyone is flocking towards the new rooms and not taking up a lockoff. Additionally you also have to account for any new VGF2 owner who is buying (at good prices) to stay in a 2BR.

Only time will tell how it works out and if you will need to be on at 11 months or if those 2BR/1BR will stick around longer.

Will not be adding on at VGF (although i was intrigued when I read that there was a military discount in addition to the incentive) because I learned that the new studios will not offer a refrigerator or a microwave. We use the microwave regularly when we stay in studios and we would definitely miss having one.

I’m concerned about the noise issue. Hope someone chimes in.
Yes. It's true, the Grand Floridian rooms has thin walls. It's still our longtime favorite resort, but that's my major beef with it. We own at VGF and love it, but hate that aspect. We go for 1BR and 2BR sometimes just to have the buffer. It's not just the villas either. Regular GF rooms are also the same -- even our beloved Royal Palm Club, Club Level rooms. If you have unduly noisy neighbours, it's brutal. Compared to BLT, for example, there's a significant difference.

Also, I hear reports that VGF rooms desperately need sound proofing... any truth to this? Thanks.

Who knows about this building. Maybe?

Poly's soundproofing is also terrible from a cheap hotel flip. I've heard conversations next door. But I love Poly so much I just turn on my noise machine.

I'm fine with a beverage cooler as a refrigerator but no microwave would be a disappointment. Also no toaster, unless they will have them and they're just not listed here. Certainly takes away from the villa experience without them...? I'm going to see what our DVC rep says. They do seem to be noticeably absent from the official description: "Coming in the Summer of 2022 are all-new Resort Studios*. These modern, sophisticated accommodations will sleep up to 5 Guests and offer luxe touches like quartz countertops, ornate crown molding and patterned tile. Resort Studios* also feature a flat-screen TV, a beverage center with a beverage cooler and coffee maker, and marble tile floors in the bathroom."

That is what I think with DLT. They only have 20ish 1-bedroom 2-bedrooms so they could possibly sell out faster than the studios which will be abundant

Currently own enough points, including at VGF.
May be interested in adding on a small amount at DLT later.

The cuts you mentioned don't really bother me. The only one I really care about is the continued lack of daily housekeeping for cash guests, which obviously doesn't apply here.

I'm not buying VGF because I don't like VGF or the VGF points chart.

I'm with you. Never used Magical express, never had an AP. VGF does nothing for me, especially with those point charts. Not my thing. Plus I think 1 BRs are going to be impossible to get, even for owners, similar to the Value and Club at AKL. I'm weighing options on where I want to add on next year some time, and VGF isn't even on the radar.

I'm happy for everyone that's excited about it though!
