Who is Not Buying VGF2 and Why?

We do want more points, just not at Vgf, We own at Poly, which we prefer over Vgf. I don't see a point in owning at both since I can walk to Vgf and enjoy the dining and shopping there. One resort on the monorail line is good for us.

This is exactly why I didn’t purchase as well. The FW I was interested in, wasn’t even offered. I‘m not convinced the price is going to increase that much in the next year, so I‘m going to wait a bit to see where resale prices settle and if any information is released on DLT. Really disappointing that 21UY points aren’t available.

The changes made to the FW charts, has really made them way to expensive. I had even considered Riviera until I saw the new chart. Just makes me feel like I will stick with resale.
The fixed week changes are surprising. You can’t buy a FW anywhere they sold them for under 150 points, assuming you can still get them. DVC not selling any VGF1 FW. Just wow.

If you were going to buy another resort, what would it be?

We love our points BWV. Walking to 2 parks and W&F is our favorite event. Also love AKL. It has a savannah, nuf said. If we were to buy more points, which we are trying not to, would be Copper Creek. We love Wilderness. Scared as we are staying there in April. Riviera is temping (love the restaurants and the grounds are beautiful), but too many points needed for what we like.

I think GF is a beautiful resort, but it's not my style, so wouldn't want to stay there for more than a night or two, so no need to buy home resort points there.

Even though my resale points are from 2014 and grandfathered into most”blue card” perks, I need 85 more direct points to get to 150 direct (I feel like I want to go on a member cruise one day, so that’s the only real perk I’m missing that I want). My concern is 85 points won’t go far enough at VGF, so leaning towards OKW as that’s where my current 65 direct are. It pains me a little given the direct OKW price went up since I bought and isn’t that far below VGF, but it would give me the advantage to book their great value 3 bedrooms! The only other option I’m considering is upping to 100 Riviera points as they do have incentives there at the 100 point level. I’m probably seriously over analyzing this 😀

I did some more spreadsheets, and really the correct answer for me mathematically is to sell my existing resale and buy VGF2, if I think I'll hold a few years to at least break even.

But I don't think I'm going to be in on Disney that long. There are too many issues pushing me from going to Disney at all, and they seem to keep coming.

This is my hold up on vgf2. I want to buy a small contract as the price seems right but I haven’t enjoyed my last two trips to Disney and that was prior to losing magical express and the addition of the lightning lanes. I think I’ll be really sour after experiencing what the paid lightning lanes offer compared to the free fast pass.

The DVC max is 4,000 points.
If you have less than 4,000 points, there is no reason to not buy!!!!

Yes and no, it is 4,000 per resort, per person. Max of 8,000. So a couple could own 4,000 at one resort and 4,000 at a second resort. I think if you are single they hold you to 4,000. Most don’t have to worry about that, unfortunately.

I was potentially interested in VGF2 but decided against once the “resort studios” were announced. They are just hotel rooms for which we are charged DVC rates, and the fact that they didn’t even try to offer amenities like a microwave - when the shelves for the coffee nook could easily hold it - or a real mini-fridge to hold milk/cream turned me off from it, just rubs me the wrong way in the "offer less" strategy that seems to be where Disney is going these days. If they had embraced the rooms but offered guaranteed connecting rooms or - better yet! - king bed options with an option to connect to 2 queens, that would’ve been a different matter. I’d have been more interested in owning points to do 2-3 nights in that case. I did debate VGF2 for some SAP points, but then decided much as I DO want more direct points, I’d probably rather buy more CCV or PVB resale instead.

That said, we also own a lot of points at BRV/CCV (our favorite up with AKV), and we also now have 100 points at PVB, whose theming we like so much better, so if I’m looking for a 1-3 night Studio stay near MK, I’d rather stay at PVB anyway.

LORANA, you are exactly right and I agree. You do know that a lot of DVCers think that's okay and are fine with the price. If this is okay as studios I'm sure DVC will take something else away in the next resort they build.

Judging from your banner, you do seem to have quite the resort collection already! 😅

Why we didn't buy VGF2 [and instead bought a 100 pt add-on at BWV last Oct at $200/pt.]
> VGF is just not our vibe. Our 2014 3 nt 1BR Std while fun, was a one and done for us.
> We already own a monorail resort we love to stay at (BLT 160 pts).
> VGF high point charts. We love our BLT and BWV point charts.
> IMHO, the new VGF Resort Studios are a step down in features (no microwave, no sofa, no table).
> We can usually get a few nights at VGF at 7 months so no need to make it a home resort.

For those that are buying in, Congratulations and Welcome Home!

Yeah, that is my fear. Chapek is really embracing the "offer less" mentality, and one of the reasons I loved Disney was that, while expensive, I always felt I got more than my money's worth and incredible experiences. I am holding out hope that once the post-Covid travel frenzy ends, Chapek and Disney will return to being the company that strove to offer magic, when not making customers happy starts to impact their bottom line.

I do get that some people are happy with prepaid hotel rooms, and I get the idea of two queen beds serves a need. I'd be happy for that, if they were ACTUAL STUDIOS that are DVC timeshare. Even the split bathroom isn't a real split bathroom. This feels like such a money grab, and that didn't used to be what Disney stood for.
