Who is destashing in 2010?

OMG! I tripped over another toy about 2 this morning & decided that it was time to purge them again. I love this forum you guys offer more than just WDW info but therapy as well. :lmao: I so need a support group for this. Now, once i've purged any cost effective organization and/or storage solution advice?

I started another bag of clothes to leave the house this weekend - it kills me how much clothing I have that i don't wear, but seem to keep anyway! I wore a pair of jeans on Friday that were SO uncomfortable i had to go home & change. Those got washed & went right into the "de-stash" bag!!
Lets hope I can keep going!

Wow, thats alot - for how many items? Would you mind telling us what you're selling?
Are they bigger ticket items, like appliances? I've been donating all my kitchen stuff, not thinking it would sell but now I'm thinking twice! :)

I had 2 crockpots (big) $10 each and 2 of the large "original" george foreman grills and a big stewpot. I'm down to one small red crockpot and one small stewpot. No more grills but I do have one of those sandwich maker thingys I am looking to get rid of. I've also sold mini fridge, baking pans and a couple of frying pans. :rotfl:

I donated a bag of shirts I haven't worn. Nice shirts, but I just by pass them to get to other stuff. I'm taking a look around with a keener eye. If it hasn't been used, it's gone.

Ok this has NOT been a productive week at home...But I did discover that for some reason we had several almost-empty laundry soap bottles. That was actually kind of a cool discovery because volunteers for the food pantry at our church make home made laundry soap and always need containers, so I dropped those off today. It's a small victory but I just always need to know that progress is being made!

I've been completely unproductive. But today I got all the paper clutter out of my office, the paper clutter from the kitchen and I sorted through the pantry and the spice cabinet and threw away some expired items and pulled out everything that is near it's date so we can make it or use it.

Next week is spring break for me so I'll be doing some work on the house while the kids are at school. Monday should be a good day since DH is home until the afternoon.

My goals for next week:
YDD's room ~ clean it up, sort the toys back into their proper bins, get the table that belongs in the front room out of her room (has been in there since Dec to make room for the tree  )

my office ~ remove the excessive shelving and get the random items from the shelves into their proper homes

mail out 2 AG girls for new heads ~ this has been on my to do list for about 2yrs now

filing, filing, filing ~ blech!

our bedroom ~ finish up decluttering and rehoming items.

find the TV remote (it's in a couch but not sure where in the couch)

declutter the bookcase in the front room

sort through the bins under the stairs

box up too small boys clothes and mail out to friend for her DS

I'll leave it at that for now. Hopefully I can add some things and cross them off too but we'll see.

I have 2 bags of stuff sitting on my front porch waiting for charity pickup this afternoon. Everone else's success inspired me to go through my closets again. I picked out several sweaters I have not worn in years. Also went through the kids' toys and purged a bunch of those. And I hit their bookcase and pulled a few books that they have never even glanced at and put them in the bag, too. Tidied up the kitchen paper pile that seems to appear overnight, and then was inspired to wipe down the front of my cupboards with almond oil. My kitchen definitely looks better - all shiny and clean! Thanks for the inspiration, guys!

Well, my son came a couple of weeks early so the last month hasn't been productive for me as far as decluttering. But the last couple of days I've been on a roll. My husband just took a big box to Goodwill for me this morning of random things we didn't want or need. I've got a huge pile of maternity clothes to take to the consignment shop the next time I go to town (sometimes I hate being in the country). A girl is coming over sometime in the next week to look at my daughter's clothes and buy some. The rest are going to the consignment shop as well.

For today, my daughter is playing at my sister's house so I plan on going through some toys. I know she has some puzzles missing pieces and some coloring books that don't have any pages left of color. Hopefully I can find some more toys to take to the consignment shop as well.

It feels good to be back purging our stuff again. Hopefully I find a good amount of stuff to sell to get some cash for our Disney trip. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the birth of your son! That is wonderful news! Hope all is well and everyone is adjusting well. :)

Thanks. I think we're finally getting into a routine now. I had forgotten how rough the first couple of weeks are.

It's amazing what i can get done when a have a few minutes alone. I threw out 4 or 5 coloring books, a puzzle and purged all the broken crayons from the crayon basket and threw away a couple of books that were not readable anymore. All in about 15 minutes. :cheer2:

Congrats on the birth of your son!! :flower3::goodvibes

I was glad to see stores like the Gap having you bring in a pair of denim jeans and to be able to get 30% off (35% with their Gap card). I ended up going 2 times, the first alone, I took DS's jeans and got DD a pair of jeans for school next year. ;)And then with my sister I took another pair of jeans and got DD a jean jacket. I know it's not decluttering to the max, but I look at it as getting rid of stuff that is not being worn.

I also sold some more clothing on CL. :upsidedow

:rolleyes:Got rid of an electric cooler, i really liked it but the cord was fraying.
Hoping to get the spare room done this weekend, but my weekends are so busy I usually only plug away at it.
During the week I was able to get rid of 2 trash bags of stuff :thumbsup2

Congratulations acename! Newborns are so precious.:cloud9:

I had a decent week working around here. I injured my leg and so was hobbling around, which cut into my time gathering stuff up for the Kidney Fund. I did manage to get two good size boxes of donations out the door and that felt good.

This weekend I will be working like crazy. The drop off for the consignment sale that I do is Tuesday night, so I'll be pulling out the spring/summer stuff for my little one to try on. Next I'll move on to the toys and books. Then it's time to make sure they are spotless, hung, and tagged! :laundy: I usually make at a minimum a couple hundred, so it's totally worth the work for me. Much more than I would get if I put them out at a yard sale (but I'll have one of those too)! Disney money!!!!

I don't remember the last time I posted on this thread, I guess I'm not doing a very good job of decluttering, lol. I did finally sell our old laptop. I was dragging my feet about transferring all the photos off of it, but I finally got it done & sold it. I got $75, not too bad for a 5-year-old Dell laptop.

Next on the agenda is seeing if any of my old toys that my mom recently unloaded on me have any value on eBay, and if not finding somewhere to donate them. (Yes, my mom is decluttering her house by cluttering up mine. If I get a little extra cash out of the deal though I'm not complaining.)

Congratulations, Acename!

DH and I finally cleaned out the laundry room last night. Wasn't as much stuff in the cabinets to declutter as I thought, but nice to have it done.

Now that I've finally started to lose some weight, it's time to go through some of the 'i wish i was a size....' clothes in the basement. Trust me ladies, this is another reason to destash them. It would be SO much more fun to be out buying new stuff today!

Welcome back Ava! It's hard to keep going. I know I just want to go back to ignoring it, but I'm not letting myself. I want the peace of a noncluttered home, yet I have stuff everywhere. It's a little discouraging, because it seems like the more I get rid of, the more pops up! :confused3

I love the Budget Board. Everyone here is about saving money and that's how I view this destashing. I've stopped buying things unless necessary and I'm selling stuff for money if I can...Disney money! Lots of other people seem to be interested in this too, because check out the number of views we have! Posting on here is my way of holding myself responsible for something, no matter how big or small, and I know everyone here is supportive.

Congrats on the laptop...I can only imagine how long that took.

Yay! I took a break from preparing for the spring consignment sale and took care of some errands today. One of them was to stop off at the consignment store. After last winter's consignment sale I had some things left over that were from major labels, so I took them to the consignment store and left them for her to sell. So anyhow, I went in and she cut me a check for $43.16! My favorite incentive to destash!

Glad you all are keeping us going. I cleaned out my expired coupons last week, but unfortunately, that's about all I accomplished. Plan to work on it some now, and a bunch tomorrow, so we have a nice sized pile at the curb for garbage day on Monday morning and a whole lot added to my garage sale pile. I asked DH if he would take off a couple days on a weekend when the weather gets warm to help me with a garage sale, and to my surprise, he said, yes! :cool1: That in itself, is a major accomplishment! Oh, I did make a bunch of pillowcases for our Give A Day from only fabric that I had in my stash. So, I guess I did declutter the fabric stash, some.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and thanks for keeping me on track!
:thumbsup2

Awesome!

I don't have brand name stuff so I'd guess it's not worth consigning. But I did fill 2 bags for goodwill today!
