Linda your story about Kenny was too adorable. A tornado in the hot tub!

We've been to the Logans once, and what I recall it was pretty good. I like Lone Star, but I always have a problem with getting my steak cooked right. medium rare does not mean bring me medium well. I do like the rolls at the various Steak places - I think I'm a carb addict. As for Red Robin, I can't say that we've ever had a problem.
2x2s - you're absolutely right about being lucky that your little water heater disaster didn't happen while you were gone. Unfortunately, you probably got to use some of your Disney spending cash for that repair... I have to agree with YM - it did remind me of a Plum novel. Have you thought about writing?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MATT!! party:

Out of the mouths of babes - you know, the story about Kenny reminds me of a funny Disney related bit... We were at WDW about 4 years ago with some close friends/fellow DVC members of ours, who have a young daughter. She was probably about 6 at the time - we ALWAYS eat at O'hana - it's just a tradition, and of course, at O'hana you get meat on a stick. (meat on a stick being a WONDERFUL thing) - but, as we know thanks to Lilo & Stitch, O'hana means family. Soooo... we're at O'hana, and what does she say when asked what O'hana means? "Family on a stick!!!" :rotfl2: Funny as heck, but conjures up a really bad visual.

enough for now, but I'll check in later - hello :wave2: to all you cliqueless peeps!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!!!

Linda.... You need to write that one down. I've noticed that Kenny seems to have good sleeping habits. What is his bed time? My kids are rarely alseep before 9:30...even if we put them to bed at 8:30. Plus, they both gave up naps by the age of three I think you've mentioned a couple of times about Kenny taking his nap and I'm sitting here :rolleyes1 no way can this kid be so good (still takes naps for his mom) Oh Linda....you might consider the extra large bags of dark chocolate m&ms ....they were a hit at our house.

Yes, that will go in his scrapbook for sure!! As you know, Mike spent 26 yrs in the military so he's pretty strict. I always was too, but not as much as him. It has been a wonderful thing for Kenny. My mom was very strict w/us so it must have done some good ;). Kenny usually gets up @7:30 and to school an hour later. He has 30 minutes to eat. We set the timer and if he misses the first one we reset it for 20 and he loses something. Like the hot tub time that night, or a quarter from his allowance... just something so he gets the point. We have to do this b/c if we don't he'll still be sitting there at bedtime staring at his food. Nap time from 1:30-3:30 @7 he gets his bath and we have some tv time and at 8 we head to bed. I read to him for about 10 minutes and talk to him about his day etc...it works great. He's just learned this is the way it is and that's that. The only hard part is when he comes back from his dads where there are no rules, no schedule, no naps...he comes home exhausted and takes a day to get him back in the swing of things. I like watching Nanny 911..and those kind of shows so I did get some from there. When he is misbehaving we count to 5. If he gets to 5 he gets punished. He doesn't want to lose his favorite toy for a week or $ from his allowance so he stops. It's hardest in the beginning showing them you're serious and not going to back down...and being consistant...but you'll see...he is a total sweetheart and very well behaved :cool1: When he was 3 we went to Mikes buddy's house, and his buddys parents were there...Kenny walked up and shook their hand and introduced himself. They came straight to the house and asked who Kenny was with? He was w/the other kids on the swing set... they just couldn't believe that...it was so cute!! Mike gets annoyed some b/c like any child he ask a lot of questions. And I try to answer them. To me, that is the only way they learn! If you don't tell them and explain things ot them, how else are they supposed to know :confused3 ... sorry for the extremely long detailed post....but guess I got carried away :rolleyes1

I'll have to get a big bag.... those things are great!!!

2x...sorry about your hot water tank :guilty: :grouphug: better now than having to come home to that!!

Ashley...that's too funny...red robin came and you hid under the table... :grouphug: we've got to help you w/that :teeth:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT party: :cake: :bday: What...one more year..and you'll be driving right? :teeth:

Linda:: That's so cute about Kenny and the tornado!! Who would want a tornado in their hot tub!!! It seems that we confuse our young ones sometimes with the things that they learn, then to find out that there are exceptions!!! btw, I tried to get my jumping pumpkin to work. I didn't try Photobucket, will have to go downstairs and give it a try sometime!!

The other night when I was on the computer and of course on the Cliqueless thread, Nathan told me that when I went on my trip to please get a picture of everybody because he wanted to see what they looked like!! How sweet is that!! :lovestruc I did show him Linda and Kenny, but I think he's looked over my shoulder so much when I'm dising that he already KNEW them!!!!
Not to mention that he's acquainted with Lyzzie and Ruby, too.
I took Nathan to the dentist yesterday and the Dr. recommended that we get him to an orthodontist ASAP. His top teeth fit slighty behind his bottom teeth. I feel so awful that I never really noticed this before. I feel like such a bad mom right now. Nathan is pretty upset and keeps telling DH and myself that he is sorry, like it's his fault. So, I guess we will be doing braces for him really soon.
He kills me sometimes... so cute :cloud9: That's too cute Nathan lurks so much he already knows us  Hi Nathan :wave2: good luck at the orthodontist :grouphug: Dont feel guilty Donna. Taking care of him once you know of the problem is what matters. Its not your fault Nathan... that's just life sometimes. Your insurance may even help w/the cost. I think ours pays up to 2k or something... good luck! :)

Thats too cute "Family on a stick". We love O'hana too  we went at night to watch Wishes from there. It was so incredible...watching the fireworks w/the view of the castle. They gave us a window seat w/a perfect view of the castle.... ahhh... wish I were there now :cloud9: Sounds like she's a real cutie :goodvibes

I love Logans too...we have so many restaurants here it's almost sad. I don't think many people know how to cook anymore:confused3 j/k but it sure seems like it! We have like 3 places you can eat the peanuts and throw the shells on the floor... Logans, Roadhouse, and Texas Roadhouse... all very good!! Now I'm hungry for steak!!

:bored: Kenny's put to bed for the evening so I had to sneak back to the dis... Can you handle yet another Kenny story???

Well, he and Mike were outside and I was eating my pizza at the kitchen table w/the french doors open. Mike was getting the hose to put some more water in the hot tub. Kenny asks if we can go in it tonight and Mike tells him no b/c it might be too cool... he asks him if he's putting cold water in the hot tub... yeah... the hose isn't warm :teeth: then Kenny jumps up so serious and says "NO...you can't mix hot and cold!!! You'll make a tornado" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: he remembers me explaining how a tornado is formed when the warm fronts and cold fronts collide... yada yada... from when we had a tornado warning a few weeks ago... omg...that was so funny... I told him it doesn't work that way w/water... then he just looks and says "OH" hehehe omg. he kills me! I just had to share that. No tornadoes;)
Funny! :rotfl: I always enjoy the Kenny stories!
I'll have to tell Courtney.

Oh man, I love throwing the shells on the floor! I've never heard of Logan's, but in FL we had Roadhouse Grill where you could do that. Don't have those here. The peanut bucket at Lone Star on Sunday had a label on it that said something to the effect of "Peanuts have been brought back by popular demand. Due to health code regulations, if you throw peanut shells on the floor, we will no longer be able to serve peanuts. Please dispose of peanut shells in the buckets provided." I found that to be a bit tacky. They could just as easily give you a bucket marked "Nuts" and another bucket marked "Shells."
You know that got me to thinking.......(usually spells trouble)

Lone Star USED to allow customers to throw the shells on the floor. Then they took the peanuts away altogether. Then, they brought them back along with another bucket for the shells (like lyzziesmom described). And they mention something about health code regulations.

However, I know that both Texas Roadhouse and Logan's both serve peanuts and allow customers to throw the shells on the floor.

So.......is it a "health code regualation"? Or is it some kind of legal issue in case someone falls? Or is it that they don't want to have to pay employees to have to sweep them all up after closing?

hmmmmm.......

glad you enjoy them :) I love hearing about your guys' kids too :cloud9: they're so adorable and they grow up so fast :sad2: when I take $ away from Kenny allowance when he misbehaves he gets so upset and tells me "you just don't want me to drive do you?" b/c he's saving that $ for a car :rotfl: ... he's 5 and worried about driving and buying a car!!!! Guess its good I've taught him to save and plan ahead...but geeze... he'll be 10 and saving for retirement :teeth: ..not that it's a bad thing :rolleyes1

I watched Fox and the Hound last night. I had never seen it. I cried and cried. Why do they have to make movies that sad?? :guilty: I am hoping that the 2nd one won't be as sad.

I was just going to check in, but then I saw this and I just had to tell you, this is the first movie that ever made me cry. I think I was about 3 or 4 years old. When they take that little fox out to the woods... oh forget it, it still makes me bawl like a baby. And then when Lyzzie was about 4, I rented it for her and when it got to that part, I looked over at her and there she was, lying face down on the couch and just sobbing her little heart out. So the tradition continues. It is still one of my favorites, but we don't own it. Hunh. I have not seen part 2, didn't even know there was one. I'm not a big fan of the recent spate of direct-to-video sequels, they seem like a ploy to make more money and are often not that good. However, I did enjoy the Jungle Book 2, that one was in the theaters a few years back. I'm rambling... I'm sorry.

Donna, I made sure to remember my meds today!

Hi lyzziesmom :wave2: glad you remembered your meds!!! :cheer2:

I can't even tell you about crying at movies...I cry at all of the sad ones. I remember leaving the theater at 17 yrs old watching the Lion King :rolleyes1 with my sister and her fiance' now dh.... her and I were both crying our eyes out :ssst: ... POOR SIMBA  you're right about the direct to video..usually not as good...but Jungle Book 2 is Kennys all time favorite movie.. I think I know it word for word :rolleyes1 ..I was never one to sit him in front of the tv...but he did love watching THAT movie over and over and over!!! Gotta love Baloo and Mowgli

Linda, it sounds like you've got a really good system worked out with Kenny! I'm a lot less structured in my discipline, but my kids are pretty good and rarely need much. I had a hard time with Lyzzie for a while, because I would give her money at the beginning of the day, usually a handful of dimes, and take one away whenever she misbehaved or didn't listen. I realized that wasn't working when she just handed me all her money and said, "Here. Now can I just do whatever I want to?" I find with her usually just talking to her works pretty well. Emma is a different story though! She's really still too young to understand too much talking, so we are still figuring out what works. Generally just finding a routine and sticking with it is the best, but since my mom watches her while I work and we have different ways of doing things, that isn't always easy.

Courtney is doing great. No negative effects from her broken arm. She has rarely even mentioned it since she had her cast removed.
Colton said that he talked to Kayla yesterday at school. He said that they talked about some of the rides they rode at the Fair.

Good that Kenny has a plan for the future!! :thumbsup2 He better be saving, because Courtney seems to have inherited her mother's taste for expensive things. :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

lyzziesmom, The Fox and the Hound (original) was just re-released yesterday (Mike bought it for me  ) The sequel is coming out 12/12. I think it's about Copper becoming a singer. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with the original though.
Some of the direct-to-video sequels are bad, but I like a couple of them. Mike gets me every one that is released. I have to own all the Disney movies (it's a sickness).

Oh, don't forget Cars is coming out on 11/07 and Pirates is released 12/05!!! pirate: Also, if anyone was a fan of the Gummi Bears, the first season is being released on 11/14.

I try!! I know what you mean w/mom's watching them though...I use to bang my head on the wall w/my mom watching Kenny!! When I left my ex...Kenny was 2 1/2 and pretty well potty trained. I moved into my duplex. I lived on one side and she lives on the other...she'd watch him while I worked. She'd just put a diaper on him and not make him use the potty :furious: Talk about causing problems :sad2: I was so glad when he started preschool!!!! It was better for all of us!! Mom liked living for free...but too bad! yes, you have to find what works...but we still change it around...He'll have to stand against the wall, he'll have to spend an hour on the couch w/us watching whatever we want quietly...he HATES that :rotfl2: take away toys...whatever...I've spanked him...but I try to use other things b/c I really hated that as a child. It's tough being a single mom :grouphug: I remember!!! You've got to be strong!! Plus I explain why he's being punished so he understands..and if I tell him no to something I explain why...

Good Morning!

Thanks for breakfast Donna!

Linda- that is a cute story about Kenny! It's good that he is saving money and not blowing it on stuff! He needs to save for his car! :car:

Ashley- Your Red Robin story is too funny!!! I like Disney characters, but I don't like non-Disney characters!!!

2X- 3 more days!!! :cool1: I'm sorry about your water heater. At least it happened now and not while you're at WDW.

Kim- It probably is too far for you to drive to, but there is a Logan's near Highway 6 and I-10. That is the only one I know of.

Happy Birthday Matt!!! party: :bday:

OMG, Linda - that little bit about Kenny 'guilting' you about not wanting him to drive!!! :rotfl2: From what you describe, he reminds me of that guy in the commercial about ___?___ - not spending money as a kid or adult because he's saving for his retirement...

Cars, Pirates, Fox & Hound, Little Mermaid - (sound of me whipping out my debit card) I guess I better warm up the card. OH! And Nightmare 3D 10th anniversary is out next week!! I'm a big Tim Burton fan, and LOVE Nightmare. DD and I will be there - I've got to find out if it's going to be at our IMAX.

I am so excited; I didn't think we'd be able to go to a game this year, but a guy at work had two extra tickets.

Now, for them to just win :wizard:

Good morning, afternoon for some of you!

Donna thanks for breakfast once again! It was quite yummy! :yay: Got to work off all that cake weight! :yay: :worship: I've been on a sugar high all week! :hyper: I have to take Madison to the ortho as her teeth don't fit in her mouth. Her adult ones are coming in behind each other. .

Dznyfan....400 posts :cheer2:

Ashley & Kim.....I missed your 1000 post :cheer2: :dance3: :woohoo:

2x....I'm glad you discovered your hot water problem before you left. That could have been a huge mess!

Lin....Prayers for your dh!

Yesterday I thought I would be ambitious and finish painting my hallway. I have had only one wall painted for over 6 months and I just couldn't get myself going to finish. Well I got 3/4 of the way done when dh informed me that I did not do the sponging the same as I did on the other wall. :sad2: Why I didn't pay attention I'll never know, but after 6 months I forgot how I did it. Now I have to repaint the wall that was already done so I can get it to match the freshly painted one. Maybe I'll get to it around April, no one will notice! :rolleyes1

It i so dreary outside today. It looks like one of those cold nasty winter days. I am not looking forward to the cold weather. They say we are suppose to get snowflakes tonight! :guilty:

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday! :wave2:
