I think I would allow the gay friend sleepover if it was for a good reason, going to be out late, have to be somewhere early, etc but not just for a 'sleepover'. But that's just me, I hate sleepovers. Come over, visit, play, hang out, then GO HOME!! I use to allow them all the time and I hated it, I finally thought this is silly, stop trying to be the 'cool mom' and I started to say no. The funny thing is my kids were secretly relieved a lot of the time. They wanted their down time from their friends but didn't know how to say NO when they asked if they could sleep over.
Does anyone else have secret signals with their kids?? Mine will ask me a question, like can so-and-so come over to play. If they pull on their ear when they ask then I know I'm supposed to come up with a reason to say NO. I have always told them that I am willing to be the bad guy if they are ever uncomfortable about something. That's what moms are for
