I think I would allow the gay friend sleepover if it was for a good reason, going to be out late, have to be somewhere early, etc but not just for a 'sleepover'. But that's just me, I hate sleepovers. Come over, visit, play, hang out, then GO HOME!! I use to allow them all the time and I hated it, I finally thought this is silly, stop trying to be the 'cool mom' and I started to say no. The funny thing is my kids were secretly relieved a lot of the time. They wanted their down time from their friends but didn't know how to say NO when they asked if they could sleep over.

Does anyone else have secret signals with their kids?? Mine will ask me a question, like can so-and-so come over to play. If they pull on their ear when they ask then I know I'm supposed to come up with a reason to say NO. I have always told them that I am willing to be the bad guy if they are ever uncomfortable about something. That's what moms are for :rolleyes1

2x2 here's some pixiedust: for your doctor's call.

DznyFan Great job with getting the land by the lake :thumbsup2 How big is your property?

Linda, you'd asked about the x... we were getting ready to file a report on him, and apparently she saw his sister and filled her in on what was going on. That got back to his parents, and we heard that he was "spoken to". I would like to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation. We were told that he wouldn't be bothering her again. To my knowledge he hasn't called her been at the school or our house.

 :cheer2:  YAY!!! The creep is gone :woohoo: That would have been great to be a fly on the wall that day! :cool1: Hope he stays away from her!!!

Michele...that is awesome... you guys are such cool moms!! :smooth: I won't have a problem being the bad guy either!! pirate:

Thanks...I think he's adorable too.... :cloud9: but of coarse I would think so :teeth: ... you'll see in FEB :woohoo: I CAN'T WAIT :Pinkbounc

What do the HS's around you do for homecoming? Matt just came home from a Student Senate meeting where most of the planning is happening. Years ago each grade would make a float following some theme. They stopped that a long time ago because the different grades would try to find out where the floats were being built and the vandalism got out of control. Now each grade has a particular hallway at school to decorate. It is fun for them, it is in a protected area, plus if the other kids tried something the video cameras would catch them, but it takes some of the fun out of it. The parade is just the band, cheerleaders, JV players and some other teams, oh plus the homecoming court. Most parents don't come over to see the halls. I do but I only work next door. I have always come over for the pep rally too. I always got to see Bree cheer.

The theme this year is CARTOONS. Matt's class picked the Flintstones. They are ordering shirts to wear. He was telling me how they are going to decorate their hall and what their banner will look like. [during the pep rally each grade sits on a different set of bleachers with their banner above them. they are judged on everything to find the winning class.] Freshmen always loose, but they all have fun. The funniest part is hearing the freshmen sing the fight song, most of them don't have clue :lmao:

The school I went to has a parade, a pep rally, and other things. I didn't really pay attention to anything else, I wasn't really involved.

Michele - sleepover is just for hangin' out. I agree with not wanting to have them all the time, and we don't. She has a small handful of really close friends that she'll have over to stay the night (one at a time, of course) usually around one a month. They're mostly theatre or music kids - they hang out and watch old movies, sing, or sometimes just be goofy. She's so busy she doesn't have a whole lot of hang out time. She's never one to be gone on Friday and Saturday nights unless there's something going on - tonight is a football game and the jazz choir kids have to work a fundraiser for a little while. She's just not one to go hangin' with the crowd or to parties or at the mall.

I don't know what our kids do for homecoming..... but I know we've got spirit week next week, and she's supposed to be involved in that planning since she's an officer in one of the prominent clubs.

Thanks for the thumb on the lake property - it's a lot I think about 150'x200', beautifully wooded. I'm ready to go house hunting!

Hi everyone! yep thats me. I started to feel a little out of it last night so I went to bed right after class. When I woke up this morning my throat felt like it was on fire. It still hurts pretty bad. I just keep forcing fluids down. I usually dont stay sick long. I am hoping to feel beter tomorrow.

Dznyfan - I am so glad the ex has left her alone. I think I would have made the same choice as you about her friend sleeping over. She seems like a very trusworthy and responsible girl, plus hes gay.

2x - Hopefully your dr will call you while you are around on saturday so you can talk asap. I am glad that he is at least giving you the attention that a patient should get and that you deserve.

Ashley - We love the hardrock! Alot to do there, we enjoy going to the piano bar and of course will hit the slots. We arent big gamblers but we take a lucky spin. 2 more weeks!!

Pozey - All those pictures of Courtney remind me of me when I was little, unstoppable! How is your sons forehead healing?

Michele - I wish I would have had secret signals with my mom. Luckily I have always been one to say whats on my mind and would come up with my own reasons why I didnt want my friends over sometime. Actually come to think of it sometimes I just wen ahead and blamed it on my mom. :teeth: Our hs did exactly what Matts is doing for hc. I remember having so much fun. I was a cheerleader so pep ralleys were my favorite thing!

Hi Donna, Nicole, Amber, Linda, Lyzziesmom (I know she sint hear but maybe her ears are ringing and Im sure she knows its the cliqueless wishing her well)

I am going to bed, well actually I am going to relax wacth tv and probably fall asleep within the hour.

Oh yeah I almost forgot I was one of only two people to get a perfect score on my speech presentation :cool1:

Are you going to build on the property, put a trailer on it or get one of those manufactured homes? Some of the new manufactured homes look amazing.

I know what you mean about not being one of the 'hang out' kids. Briana is like that and let me tell you I was really glad of that last year. I kept hearing horror stories of the parties that the cool kids were having. A lot of underage drinking, probably some drugs and God knows what all else. I was happier having her and her friends hanging out here.

She works at a bowling alley and was so excited, this 'hot' guy that she sees up there all the time asked her to join a league with him and some friends on Tues nights. I'll bet they thought since she works there she knows what she's doing. Nope, their first night was this week...she bowled 2 games in the 70's and one in the 50's :rotfl2: When she bowls with her friends she tries to use the bumpers :lmao:

Pr Pixie... :cheer2: Great job on your presentation. You must have been thrilled. I hope you feel better. Blake is going out for a drink with his buddies to celebrate one of them retiring. :confused3 He's my age!! So I am going to bed early. Man, this working this stinks! :rolleyes1

Just got home a little while ago, we ate dinner out at a local place we have been going to for years. They have the best steaks in the world!!IMO
Tomorrow afternoon is DS's birthday party for the school crowd!!! We are having it at a place that teaches gymnastics. For the kids' parties they have a trampoline that is flush with the floor, a big foam cube pit(the kids love this one). Lots of other things to do and blow off steam!!! Did I mention my baby boy will be 8 on Sunday!! The time does fly by!!

DznyFan::Super news about the lake property!! Now to find the perfect club house to put there!! I don't have any advice about DD's guy friend. If they're sleeping in seperate rooms and you know him well, I don't see a problem with it.

2x2s::I hope the Doctor gets in touch with you soon!! You gotta Dis!!! I don't think Lyzziesmom is coming home until Sunday. Here are their plans for tomorrow:
Saturday: Epcot day #2, Segway tour in the am. Dinner at Alfredo's.

Precious Pixie::I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Get plenty of rest and drink your OJ!! Congrats on your speech!! What subject did you choose?

Everyone have a great evening!!!

LOL I know!! Before I even got it out of the packaging she was going crazy, sniffing it, she knew it was hers! She is so spoiled!!

I've got to say goodnight!! I have to get up early and run my errands so DH can be at a Scout leaders meeting at 10 am!! I probably wouldn't sleep too late anyway, but I am about wiped out tonight.
Ashley::Got any plans for tomorrow?

Fooey...I lost my post.

Precious pixie...sorrry you aren't feeling well. :goodvibes You've set a high standard for future grades.

Donna thanks for the bed time beignets. Hope Nathan has a great bday party tomorrow. :Pinkbounc

MI mom...Sophie is a lab mix. She did a little better last night. Funny story about your DD and the bowling...maybe Mr hot can "coach" her! Thanks for telling me your kids names and age....Nick looks big...is that just the picture (not that he looks older than Matt...just like he might be taller).

Ashley...are you out there miss hoot owl...Queen of the hoot owls. :rotfl:

Where is Wilma...it's too late for the Dr to call....and what did you have for lunch. Hey...I did work today. We work on computers it's just that my boss makes me WORK....how dare. Hey Wilma...have you heard of DSL..."Charge It" :rotfl: (just trying some bedrock humor). :teeth:

Linda...another cute pic of Kenny. How's school going?

Hey Amber...where did you eat tonight...it seems like you and Ashley are always eating somewhere tasty. popcorn::

Hey girls since so many of us have frizzy hair  maybe we should come up with matching hats for our "convention" ;) Just a thought...might be a little corny...but I will probably have a hat nearby for damage control.

Hey Nicole, Dznyfan (hope you enjoyed your movie night...did owasso win?)...hey Pozey (did ds get his stiches out?).... to all the cliquers!

Donna,

I don't have any set plans for tomorrow...I have to go to PetsMart to get some pet food, and we have to go to Ritz Camera to get a USB cord..Atleast I think thats what its called. One of the animals (either Ruby, or one of the two cats) got ahold of the cord that you plug the camera to the computer to upload the pictures and chewed a whole in it (Yep, the month old one!!!!) Do you know if they re-sell those? We can still upload the pictures, but it has to be held a certain way and its really frusterating!!!

Hi YM :teeth: I went to Red Robin for dinner tonight. I know, I've been staying up WAY later recently..It needs to stop though, atleast the night before my trip! I don't want to be exhausted my first day in Disney!!! I think I'll take some Benadryl the night before at like 9 pm and crash!!!
ETA: YM, I was thinking the same idea about the hat, but I was thinking more like matching t-shirts! We could have one of the people on the DISigns board design it..Is that too dorky? We could all wear it one day and take pictures! :goodvibes

There's Ashley...it took me forever to post since I had to type it twice. Hey...nice bed. I have a nice extra large dog bed for Sophie and she won't use it. I've been putting a treat on it and her raw hide bone but she just takes them off. What's up with that? She usually starts the night outsdie and then ends up in after we hear her barking. I tired the purina one..."healthy weight" and she really likes it for food. I think corn meal is at least the 4th ingredient. :dog2:

Hey Donna...didn't see you there :teeth: I can help you with sleeping late...I'm the queen :teeth: :cloud9: Good night!

Hi and good night YM! :worship: Didn't want to sign off without saying hello!
Wilma does need DSL. We have only had our Broadband since about April. We live out here in the wilderness and we actually had to have a tower installed. When we lived in town we just connected with our cable company. I sure missed that high-speed when we didn't have it.
A hat for our girls meet? And add hat head to my problem? We'll see!! :teeth:

Ash::I just read your last post. I had thought the same thing too!!!!About the t-shirts) Gee what would it say? we might have to think on that one!!

YM, Thats weird that Sophie doesn't like the beds. Ruby loves hers. This is her third one. She has different ones all over her (ETA: This was a typo but it was pretty accurate!! ) house!! Maybe she has just never had one before.

Donna, We'll have to think of a saying! And have someone else design it, because I'm horrible at designing stuff!!

Goodnight girls! Catch up on some sleep!!

Hey a T-shirt would be fun. If we come up with a desgin we could all find a t-shirt that we like and do a transfer. It would make for a good pic...then if anyone was to  to wear it...they could change. Donna about the hat...it's only hat hair if you take it off. :joker:  :rotfl:

Ashley...you are so funnny...only one night of no hoot owl status.... :rotfl2: A girl after my own heart. I about killed my mom as a baby because I didn't go to sleep until 11pm. I did sleep late but my borther that is 19 months older got up at the crack of dawn. The moral to my story is that I've always been a hoot owl. Hey, I born 11 days late. :smokin:
